At Pelham Lab High School, we value equity, communication, collaboration and character. We encourage students to ask the right questions so they can begin thinking critically about the world around them. Asking the right questions is equally as important as knowing the right answers. We believe that by encouraging you to ask deep questions, by engaging you in creative experiences outside of the classroom, and by ensuring that your social, academic, and emotional needs are met, you will set and achieve challenging but worthwhile goals in your future life.

Students take Crew class all four years of High School. Advisory focuses on team-building, academic skills and college and career preparation.

Pelham Lab is a member of the AP for All program on the Lehman Educational Campus. AP English Language and AP Environmental Science are currently offered.

Students are able to take other AP courses, including Computer Science, Chemistry, US History, Calculus, and World History at other schools on campus.

Through Pelham Lab's partnership with SUNY-Albany and Syracuse University students participate in Science Research classes for college credit.

Electives include Coding/Robotics, Vocal Music, Spanish 1-6, Weightlifting, Statistics, Science Inquiry and Financial Literacy.

The High School for Violin and Dance (HSVD) is one of four schools on the Morris Educational Campus. HSVD offers every student classes in string orchestra and dance (ballet, jazz, modern, tap, hip hop). No prior experience is necessary, but students are expected to have a serious interest in the two performing arts and be ready to participate in intensive training in daily classes. With consistent practice, our students achieve competence, confidence, good citizenship, and maturity-qualities that are the foundation for success in high school. There are culminating string orchestra and dance performances at the end of the school year.

Our students are required to take four years of string orchestra and/or dance. We also offer Graphic/Visual Arts.

Formerly the Academy for Environmental Leadership, we are a nurturing learning community that drives our students to excellence and teaches them how to be responsible leaders. Every student is a leader that is held to the highest standard and has constant opportunities for intellectual engagement. As we prepare our leaders for the world beyond high school, our students are empowered to take on leadership roles via partnerships with programs that focus on the arts, socio-emotional growth, career development and college readiness. Our instruction is student-centered, and students work with one another on relevant, real-world topics, using technology.

We conduct student-driven classrooms, where students collaborate with one another on authentic, real-world tasks using technology.

We offer AVID (Advancement via Individual Determination), a college readiness program that helps students develop skills to be successful in college.

As part of AVID, all of our classes focus on building skills in writing, inquiry, collaboration, organization and reading.

In their junior or senior year, students can earn credit teaching a class to ninth graders as Peer Leaders via Peer Group Connections (PGC) training.

Students can earn up to 18 college credits through Advanced Placement AND up to 12 college credits via College Now classes - a full year of credits.

All students study programming languages including HTML, JavaScript, JQuery, UNITY and Scratch to develop mobile applications and website hosting. During the senior year, students prepare for the AP Computer Science Principles exam. Industry professionals, in collaboration with industry partners, work with students to develop their skills and prepare them for internships. Students are expected to participate in work-based learning activities including job shadowing, school trips and internships.

Students learn all aspects of the culinary industry, including various food preparation techniques, safety, and sanitation. All students must take the NYC Department of Health Food Handler's course/exam and the NOCTI performance and written assessment. Careers through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) partners with our school and provides various career and scholarship opportunities. Students are expected to participate in work-based learning activities including job shadowing and internships.

Students learn of the electrical industry, including residential and commercial wiring, motor controls and sustainable technology such as solar. All students must earn certification by NCCER upon graduation. They are also required to take a ten-hour certification exam by OSHA. We partner with MTA, the Building Trades Council (Local 3), and TWU Local 100. Students are expected to participate in work-based learning activities including job shadowing and internships.

Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM) provides a CTE focus on a range of courses including: culinary, information technology, graphics, engineering, and architecture. The program includes innovative technical training leading to certification and opportunities to earn college credit. Students are expected to participate in our ninth grade summer program as well as Saturday classes for program acceleration

The Marine Corps JROTC program is co-sponsored by the Department of Education and the US Marine Corps. The curriculum is divided into three areas: academic, military, and physical fitness, and is designed to provide students with a sense of leadership and self-discipline.

This four-year program is designed to challenge those students who are not only strong in the humanities and language areas, but also interested in pursuing careers in these or related professions. This is a four-year rigorous program, that requires a serious commitment adhering to the guidelines of the four-year curriculum. In addition to fulfilling all high school requirements, students in this program are required to study languages other than English, including Latin and Spanish or Italian.

This four-year program is designed to challenge students who are strong in math and science and are interested in pursuing careers in these or related professions. This is a four-year rigorous program, that requires a serious commitment adhering to the guidelines of the 4 year curriculum. In addition to fulfilling all high school requirements, students take a minimum of two college-level science classes and one year of college-level math.

In September 1994, the New York City Department of Education, the Center for Collaborative Education, and the Coalition of Essential Schools sponsored the first systemic effort to redesign a large high school in the Bronx.
