In its raw form, the Parks data within the Yardi Voyager database has a convoluted structure, the majority of which is not being used by Parks to store any data. In an effort to make the data more user friendly, the multitude of tables used by the source database have been distilled into two that contain the essential information for a concessions database. One table (Parks Concessions) represents the concession asset – the place and thing which is being operated – and who holds the contract. The other (Parks Concession Transactions) represents transactions between those contract holders and NYC Parks. This dataset includes structures within NYC Parks properties. Structures are broadly defined as "an assembly of materials forming construction for occupancy or use."

One line of data is a structure. The dataset contains fields that are maintained by multiple agencies including NYC Parks, NYC DoITT, and NYC Planning. Where possible, updated values are pulled from authoritative sources and updated weekly - for more details about specific fields and where they come from please see https://github.com/NYCParks-data/Structures/wiki.

The System ID and BIN (Building Identification Number) are both required fields.

The Geosupport table is a related table that has information about addresses for these structures. A separate table was necessary because there is a one-to-many relationship between structures and addresses (i.e., one structure can have more than one address).

A known limitation to this dataset is that functions other than 'comfort station' can and should be attributed to many of the structures. This information will eventually live and be maintained in a related table where all the functions of individual structures can be seen.

A list of all closed allegations made against uniformed members of the New York Police Department since the year 2000. A single complaint may include multiple allegations between multiple victims / alleged victims and multiple officers. A single allegation is between one complainant and one officer. The term "Victim / Alleged Victim" refers to the person claiming harm by at least one or more allegation(s) of police misconduct.

The dataset is part of a <a href="https://data.cityofnewyork.us/browse?q=&sortBy=newest&utf8=%E2%9C%93&pageSize=20&Data-Collection_Data-Collection=CCRB+Complaints+Database">database of all public police misconduct records the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) maintains</a> on complaints against New York Police Department uniformed members of service received in CCRB's jurisdiction since the year 2000, when CCRB's database was first built. This data is published as four tables:

This database is inclusive of prior datasets held on Open Data (previously maintained as "Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) - Complaints Received," "Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) - Complaints Closed," and "Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB) - Allegations Closed") but includes information and records made public by the June 2020 repeal of New York Civil Rights law 50-a, which precipitated a full revision of what CCRB data could be considered public.

A Certificate of Occupancy (CO) states a building’s legal use and/or type of permitted occupancy. New buildings must have a CO, and existing buildings must have a current or amended CO when there is a change in use, egress or type of occupancy. No one may legally occupy a building until the Department has issued a Certificate of Occupancy or Temporary Certificate of Occupancy. The Department issues a final Certificate of Occupancy when the completed work matches the submitted plans for new buildings or major alterations. It issues a Letter of Completion for minor alterations to properties. These documents confirm the work complies with all applicable laws, all paperwork has been completed, all fees owed to the Department have been paid, all relevant violations have been resolved and all necessary approvals have been received from other City Agencies.

This dataset contains all Certificates of Occupancy issued from 7/12/2012 to March 2021. PDFs of the actual COs are viewable in www.nyc.gov/bis.

While commonly known as playgrounds, the term "playground" is avoided because some properties or subproperties labeled as "playgrounds" may include features like adult fitness equipment or handball and basketball courts and may not contain play equipment for children.

Walk to a Park Service Area for CEQR Open Space Assessment

This dataset builds on the Walk to A Park Service Area (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Recreation/Walk-to-a-Park-Service-area/5vb5-y6cv) to provide a dataset that can be viewed as an on-line map or downloaded to support the preparation of an Open Space assessment pursuant to City Environment Quality Review Technical Manual. The data has been modified to ensure that if 50% or more of a tax lot is within a Walk to a Park Service area, then the entire lot is shown as served.

New York City, as part of the OneNYC 2050 Building a Strong and Fair City plan, has put forth a goal of 85 percent of New York City residents living within a walking distance of a park by 2030. The Walk to a Park initiative focuses on increasing access to parks and open spaces, concentrating on areas of the city that are under-resourced and where residents are living further than a walk to a park. NYC Parks calculates the number of New Yorkers within walking distance of a park and reports on this as part of the Mayor’s Management Report. “Walking distance” is defined as a 1/4-mile or less for sites such as small playgrounds and sitting areas; or a 1/2-mile or less for larger parks that serve a wider region, typically over 6 acres or with access to recreation center. Certain properties in NYC Parks' portfolio, such as cemeteries, community gardens, or sites with no recreational equipment were not included in this analysis. Similarly, some publicly accessible parks and open-space amenities not under the jurisdiction of NYC Parks were included in this analysis, as they provide recreational value.

A 6-in resolution tree canopy change (2010 - 2017) dataset derived from the 2017 Light Detection and Ranging (LiDAR) data capture. This dataset represents a "top-down" mapping perspective and all tree polygons are classed as: (1) No Change, (2) Gain, (3) Loss. No change indicates that this portion of the canopy has undergone no modifications during the time period. Gain indicates that new tree canopy has appeared during the time period. Loss indicates that this portion of the tree canopy was removed during the time period.
