I am on the Building elevation and subgrade (BES) map page, I have found the house I am looking for on the map, however, the information for this location (112 Dare Ct, Brooklyn, NY) Block 8914, lot 418, the text below the map is in some sort of order, I can't navigate to this location's information other than toggling through all 5 boroughs until I see it would be impossible, I am 8600 into a list of 816,000 and I'm still in staten island, it must be there but can you navigate me directly to it, please help! I need the grade elevation of this property, 112 Dare Ct, Brooklyn, NY Block 8914, Lot 418

Viewing the data on the NYC Open Data page is not the most effective way to access the data, especially for large datasets with hundreds of thousands of records. You can download data from the export tab on the NYC Open Data portal. The Building Elevation & Subgrade data is a point shapefile, so if you have access to GIS software you can download as a shapefile. However, if you do not have access to GIS you can download as a table using the CSV option, this would allow you to open the file in excel. 

In either case above, once the file is downloaded you could search or filter the BBL (Borough, Block, Lot) field for your 10 digit BBL. Based on the info you provided Brooklyn, Block 8914, Lot 418 the BBL you are interested in is 3089140418. The grade elevation is 7.443 feet, the first floor elevation is 11.549 feet, and this property does contain subgrade space.

I recently inquired with open data about the best way to obtain specific real estate datasets, like the total sq ft of buildings, zoning, violations, building codes, # of floors, size, dimensions, block and lot, & taxes. We appreciated the response sending us to Pluto. We are actually looking for some type of API that can connect us to the fields I have included above. Do you know where we can find that?

The Department of City Planning (DCP) creates two datasets, PLUTO™ which contains extensive land use and geographic data at the tax lot level in NYC, and MapPLUTO™, which is the spatial version of the data using tax lot features from the Department of Finance's (DOF) Digital Tax Map (DTM), both with and without Water Area (shoreline clipped). This includes fields for building codes, number of floors, building and lot size, dimensions, block and lot numbers. You can download the version you prefer on City Planning's open data website, BYTES of the BIG APPLE™. You should also refer to the PLUTO data dictionary and Read Me file for any questions related to the data.

I am looking for data that shows the levels of PM 2.5 concentrations throughout New York City. The thesis for my major is on how PM 2.5 concentrations correlate with mortality and incidence of asthma. I am looking to see if there are any differences between various neighborhoods in the city. I already have asthma data but cannot seem to find any data on monthly PM 2.5 concentrations for specific neighborhoods in New York City between the years of 2016-2021. My mentor for the thesis is George Thurston, who I have been previously instructed by and will consult with when analyzing data for this project. I am not looking to publish this paper in any journals, as it is strictly for a school assignment. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

We are trying to assess COVID perceptions, specifically how "seriously" the population is taking COVID. One metric we are interested in is the frequency of the population getting tested, but we noticed that the github file "tests.csv" (https://github.com/nychealth/coronavirus-data/blob/master/trends/tests.csv) has not been updated for 9 months.

Is there any way to pull updated overall testing counts like reported in the "tests.csv"? If yes, are there ways to pull this data in the future (our study is still ongoing).

I hope this email finds you well, and apologies for the delayed response to your public inquiry. Your inquiry includes public data maintained by DOHMH. DOHMH has the following datasets on Open Data that include COVID testing data:

- COVID-19 Outcomes by Testing Cohorts: Cases, Hospitalizations, and Deaths - The dataset shows outcomes (confirmed cases, hospitalizations, and deaths) for cohorts defined by each date of specimen collection.
- DOHMH Covid-19 Milestone Data: Percent of NYC residents tested who tested positive - This dataset shows daily citywide counts of persons tested by nucleic acid amplification tests (NAAT, also known as a molecular test; e.g. a PCR test) for SARS-CoV-2, counts of persons with positive tests, and the percent positivity.

Further information on these datasets can be found in the user guides. COVID-19 testing data is no longer collected by DOHMH as of May 2023. On May 11, 2023, the federal public health emergency for COVID-19 ended and labs are no longer required to report negative SARS-CoV-2 test results. Multiple labs have stopped reporting these results, so we are no longer able to present information on SARS-COV-2 testing in NYC.

Any attempt to recreate the entire data set would lead to data integrity issues and the potential compromise of sensitive information, such as undercover officer information. OPA has no way of properly identifying what information was or should have been subject to redactions during previous years.

The Department of City Planning (DCP) does not maintain a spatial version of this data but we do publish the ZAP BBL table. This table contains the Borough, Block and Lot (BBL) info for each project. It you are looking to map the projects you can join this table to MapPLUTO using the BBL field. It can also be joined back to the ZAP Project Data table using the Project Id field to include more ZAP project data. You may want to dissolve the mapped join table before joining back to the ZAP Project Data table.

I'm hoping to get this data set (specifically, columns X, Y, Z, AA, AB) for 1990-2015: https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Social-Services/DHS-Data-Dashboard/5e9h-x6ak. (I see the current data set only goes back to 2015).


I read in this* report that the DHS population ages 65+ tripled from 2004-2017. The graphs in the report use data from the 90s, 00s, and 10s (notably, the ones on pages 3 and 4), which is almost 15 years old. I’m hoping to make an up-to-date graph that can go back far enough to capture the increase that these researchers noted and that goes up to 2023.
