Request
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am currently writing my PhD thesis at ***** in *****. In my PhD thesis, I am working on stochastic cell transmission models (SCTM) on graphs that simulate traffic networks mescopically. I would like to ask you if you can grant me access to a part of the Manhattan Traffic model and data, for example for one hour of the morning rush hour (8-9am) for one part of Manhattan. (similar to the article "Reducing gridlock probabilities via simulation-based signal control" by Osorio, C., Chen, X., Marsico, M., Talas, M., Gao, J., & Zhang, S. (2015, Transportation Research Procedia, 6, 101-110)). I would like to clarify the exact area in a chat with a contact person at NYCDOT.
In order to calibrate and validate the properties of the individual cells of the SCTM, I intend to use microscopic traffic models such as AIMSUN as a basis. Subsequently, model extensions such as the interaction of different road users or robust traffic optimisation problems will be considered. Furthermore, I want to apply the obtained knowledge on existing networks - especially on a part of the Manhattan area. The results of the research will be published firstly in my dissertation and secondly in joint research articles.
I am looking forward to your feedback.
