Hello,
I'm looking for more details behind all 311 Noise complaints from 2017 - present. Specifically, where beyond Complaint Type and Descriptor.
I'd like to see exactly what the complaint stems from (the root of the noise).


How often street performers, especially musicians, are subject to 311 complaints for playing music.

Unfortunately, 311 does not have that level of data. For Noise on Street/Sidewalk – we only capture if it is “Loud Music/Party” or “Loud Talking” not the source of the music or talking. Also, 311 does not have data for street performer complaints.

A sewer pipe burst @ my storage facility (543 W 43 St NYC 10036 on May 30, 2022. My unit was involved, however I was not notified until I discovered the mess on Nov 7. 2022. I am concerned about my potential exposures as the facility delayed informing me of what occurred.

How are New York City services distributed to families in Community Districts? We have a list of addresses that we would like to analyze by Community District.

The Office of Technology & Innovation (OTI) releases the Address Point dataset (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/City-Government/NYC-Address-Points/g6pj-hd8k) as part of the Citywide Street Centerline (CSCL) dataset on the NYC Open Data portal. This is the most comprehensive dataset for NYC addresses. Unfortunately it does not contain Community District.

You could take that list of addresses and run it through the Department of City Planning's (DCP) desktop Geosupport system - GBAT, which is the official geocoder of NYC. Once you have GBAT downloaded (https://www.nyc.gov/site/planning/data-maps/open-data/dwn-gde-home.page), you should run the address point list through GBAT using function 1E to get the Community District values. If you have trouble using GBAT please consult the User Guide (https://nycplanning.github.io/Geosupport-UPG/) and check the FAQ document (https://www.nyc.gov/assets/planning/download/pdf/data-maps/open-data/gdeguide.pdf).

Hello... is there a publicly available database yet for LL84/133's 2022 submissions (for 2021 usage) on Open Data? I would assume that the data is there since Energy Grades have been published, but I don't see any 2022 data yet. Thanks in advance.

I am looking for a data set with demographic data (by # or %) by CTA or MODZCTA areas (total population by age, sex, race).


I am working on my PHD and already have the data from the health department. I know need the baseline demographic data for each MODZCTA

We do not have any data by zip code or MODZCTA. We do have 2020 census and ACS 2016-2020 data available at different geography levels.

The available 2020 census data can be downloaded here. This has demographics on total pop, households, race & ethnicity but not gender and compares 2010-2020 and change. Make sure to filter the data on Geography Type (GeoType) before doing any analysis.

We also make the American Community Survey (ACS) data available by NTA or Community District Tabulation Area (CDTA). There are four profiles; demographic, social, economic and housing.

You can also download both Census and ACS data at many geography levels by using the NYC Population FactFinder application. For more details on using this application view the About page.

I am looking for a yearly count of homeless people in NYC starting as far as possible (2000?) and until 2021.


I would like to see the percentage increase of homeless people and the percentage increase of budget for homelessness.

Information on the number of individuals in shelter administered by the Department of Homeless Services is available on open data going back to 8/21/2013 through the DHS Daily Report data set available at DHS Daily Report (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Social-Services/DHS-Daily-Report/k46n-sa2m).

Data on the DHS census has also been reported in the Mayor’s Management Report (MMR), and those archives are available at: https://www.nyc.gov/site/operations/performance/mmr.page. Note that the MMR has the number of households but does not include the number of individuals. In addition, for MMRs published prior to FY07 the report combined the number of families with children and adult family households.

Is there a way to parse out the legally operating businesses and license applications dataset out by individual year? i.e. 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022?


I'm looking to do some research for my advanced analytics cohort to understand the type of businesses opening pre and post pandemic and where

We appreciate your interest in Open Data! We suggest using filters to break this data up. For example, if you wanted the Legally Operating Businesses dataset to only show the licenses created in 2016, you can filter on the License Creation Date column for the dates between Jan 1, 2016 and Dec 31, 2016. From there, you can save this view (if you have an account with us) or you can export it to work with this subset of the data offline. Repeat that process for how many years you'd like to see.

I am looking for a breakdown of car ownership by NTA, preferably Excel or any other ArcGIS Pro-compatible file.


I am a sophomore at the University of Pittsburgh and I am using this for my Intro to GIS class. I am trying to figure out if there is a correlation between car ownership in New York neighborhoods and the proximity to a subway station.

Car Ownership is a question on the American Community Survey (ACS) questionnaire. You can access that data in the 2016-2020 ACS - Housing Profile at the NTA level on The Department of City Planning (DCP) website here: https://www1.nyc.gov/assets/planning/download/office/planning-level/nyc-population/acs/hous_20162020_acs5yr_nta.xlsx. See the Vehicles available fields. That data and other census data is also available in our Population FactFinder application: https://popfactfinder.planning.nyc.gov/.

The DCP Transportation division also has a dashboard (https://public.tableau.com/app/profile/dcptransportation/viz/DMVCDTAProfiles_All/DMVCORbyCDTA) that pulls from DMV registrations and aggregates to the Community District Tabulation Area (CDTA), but also includes information on Car Ownership Rates (COR) by NTA.
The NYS DMV Motor Vehicle, Snowmobile, & Boat registration data is available on the NYS Open Data Portal (https://data.ny.gov/Transportation/Vehicle-Snowmobile-and-Boat-Registrations/w4pv-hbkt/data) and contains City and Zip code attributes. Make sure to filter the data on Record Type field to only vehicles (VEH).
