Request
"Motor Vehicle Collisions - Crashes" data prior to July, 2012
The research question is what are the most common vehicle, roadway, land use characteristics, demographic and other factors associated with U.S. pedestrian fatalities? By place types we mean street design (type of facility, number of lane), street network patterns, walkability, mode choices, VMT, rich/poor, race. We would like to do a pilot study in New York city. The turning point of pedestrian fatality is around 2009, so we want to access the crash data before 2009 to make comparison of pre-2009 and post-2009.
Response
Unfortunately, reliable historic data that is also consistent with current data does not exist.
