I see that NYC Open Data has a spreadsheet with Regents exam results from 2015-2018. I'm wondering if you have similar spreadsheets for regents data prior to 2015. Ideally, we would love to be able to get data on Regents exam results going back to 2010 or even earlier. Please let me know if this is possible, and if so, where I might be able to find this.


We are helping an organization that works with NYC public schools evaluate their impact on students' test scores, and we are looking for historical data to assist with this evaluation.

I'm looking to study the longevity of ethnic restaurants and was looking for the original open dates for them. I tried referencing the DOB certificate of occupancy but it only goes far back as 2013.

Good Afternoon,

Due to limitations of existing data systems, information on original permit issue date is not available. We can provide an estimate of when restaurants started operating based on their first inspection, but this is an estimate only. Some establishments have started the permit process but have not had an inspection yet (indicated by a date of 1/1/1900). Existing data set only has data back to 1993, and we don’t have information on restaurants which started operating prior to that year. We suggest analysts carefully evaluate the available data and its limitations before drawing conclusions.Please read the data dictionary for Open Data and evaluate missing data since not all fields are reliably filled out.

I am looking for trends to try and understand what kinds of factors lead to the recent uptick in fatal accidents for cyclists. With the introduction of Vision Zero I am interested in understanding the effectiveness of the mission, but also understand which other factors may be correlated.

Department of Buildings issues code and zoning determinations known as ccd1s. They are collected in an Access Database and also in BIS legacy database. It would be helpful to industry to have a searchable data source to determine when variances have been granted. Applicants can then use this as precedent for their requests.

We do not have the resources to publish the data from our legacy systems to the Open Data portal at this time. We are modernizing the way that we handle this data, and it will be considered for addition to the portal when it is added to DOB NOW.

I'd like to know what proportion of NYC is made up of commercial, residential, mixed use, hotels/hospitals etc.

Your question was forwarded to me at Department of Buildings (DOB). We have some of this information where it makes sense for us to carry out our mission. Here's where you can find a Residential/Commercial distinction in DOB data:
DOB Job Application Filings - Certain types of application will have an Existing and Proposed Occupancy Classification, which is self reported by the applicant and is based on the occupancy classification they have registered with Department of Finance
DOB Permit Issuance - There is a Residential Yes/No field. This is based on the occupancy classification they listed on the job application, which as mentioned above is based on what they have registered with Department of Finance
These datasets are only applicable to the subset of buildings under DOB jurisdiction, which includes most buildings in the City. Your best bet is to look at some data from Department of Finance or Department of City Planning to get a clearer picture.

Research questions: Does a 9-variable diabetes prediction equation and its individual risk criteria correctly identify more than 80% of patients of African descent who develop diabetes over a 10-year period.
Does the prediction equation perform differently in African American, Afro-Caribbean and African patients?
Can any single risk variable predict diabetes risk as well as a complex prediction equation?
For single risk variables, what are the appropriate cut-off values?

This list has traditionally been updated monthly, but recent changes to the TLC's data reporting standards have interrupted that schedule. Because new TLC rules have split the for-hire vehicle license into two separate license types, High Volume FHV and Traditional FHV, our IT team has required additional development time to accommodate for the new data, which has delayed updates to our lists on Open Data. We are hoping to have the FHV Base Aggregate Report updated through July in the next couple of days, and to return to a monthly update schedule over the next month or so. Specifically, I'd like to know the name of those programs and their burn rate of FEMA Public Assistance funding. If a vehicle does not show up for their scheduled inspection or if they fail that inspection, that vehicle's license is suspended and removed from our active vehicle lists, which are on Open Data. If you would like to see the inspection history for a specific vehicle or vehicles, you can submit a FOIL request by following the instructions on this page: https://www1.nyc.gov/site/tlc/about/request-data.page

In your request, please specify which vehicle licenses you would like records on, and for which time period. Note that the TLC does not record who brought the vehicle to be inspected.

We are looking for data for pedestrian struck accidents that occurred both before and after implementation of the Vision Zero program in NYC. We would also like to get data on areas near our institution where there are high rates of people getting hit. Lastly, we would also like data on pedestrian struck accidents that occurred before and after in areas where the government engineered the roads to make it safer for pedestrians and drivers.


We want to know how effective Vision Zero program is, as well as road engineering for safer outcomes. Through this data collection we can figure out what areas in the community we can go out to and help educate people on injury prevention.

However, I realize that this dataset is pretty sparse. It only contains the volume of some roads for several days.

Thank you for your request. Every year the New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) selects count locations for traffic studies and street improvement projects. NYCDOT does not collect daily traffic volume counts on every road segment; each traffic volume count location collects for nine days (two weekends) of data. The 2019 Traffic Volume Counts data is projected to release June 2020.

In addition New York State Department of Transportation conducts traffic counts in every county including New York City (5 boroughs.)

New York City Council fully operates the participatory budgeting project. They have (or previously had) a map of proposed (ideas submitted) for participatory budgeting at https://shareabouts-pbnyc-2018.herokuapp.com. This map is currently offline, but it was online earlier today. I am looking for the underlying geocoded dataset.
Any personal identifiers in this dataset were previously published online by the participatory budgeting project. I am not interested in the personal identifiers, but do not want to be denied access to already public data.
What question are you trying to answer with this data?
I am trying to associate each idea submitted (ideas submitted are not synonymous with proposed projects) on the participatory budgeting website with the relevant council district so that I can see which ones reached the council district ballot.

The Youth Development in ***, has run a *** funded study examining the sleep, behavior, and experiences of high school students to understand developmental outcomes and differences across racial/ethnic groups.
