Request
We are looking for georeferenced elevation data for the five boroughs New York City as well as Suffolk and Nassau County. Specifically we are looking for a LiDAR scan of that area with a resolution of at least 10 points/m2 (although if better resolution is available we would be interested). As a note: we want to detect in-roof obstacles like chimneys and skylights.
Ideally this data would map 1:1 to existing orthoimagery data at 6" resolution (6" per pixel) that we have been able to find.
We are trying to provide instant and accurate residential solar quotes for installing new systems in terms of savings and power generated.
Response
Hi,
The 2017 LiDAR capture only includes New York City and was captured at 8 points/m2 (QL1). All derived DEM/DSMs have a 1 foot resolution. This data is not yet available for download, but will be available on the New York State DEM Clearing house app in the coming weeks. https://orthos.dhses.ny.gov/?Extent=-9603624.133747088,4774299.7366908705,-7659066.134172721,5795498.434580554&Layers=07_meter_dem_index_usgs,1_meter_dem_index_fema,1_meter_dem_index_usgs,1_meter_dem_index_tidal_water,1_meter_dem_index_hydro_flattened,1_meter_dem_index_usda_utm18n,1_meter_dem_index_usda_utm17n,1_meter_dem_index_nys,2_meter_dem_index_ne_lidar,2_meter_dem_index_nys,2_meter_dem_index_fema,2_meter_dem_index_monroe_county,2_meter_dem_index_tompkins_county,2_meter_dem_index_erie_county&layerGroups=DEMIndexes,Orthoimagery&rightMenu=0
