Overview
We understand the responsibility to prepare our students to meet and exceed the challenges and opportunities of a globally connected technological society. We are committed to providing a rigorous academic program within an environment that offers each student learning experiences that will enable them to meet or exceed state performance standards and grow into independent critical thinkers. To further our technological goals and develop a stronger student-centered approach, our school is now a member of the iLearn NYC community and we will offer blended learning and online courses to our middle school students. Parents also appreciate the social work we do with students, including providing rich student activity/service club experiences. A student stated, "I like P.S. 147, they don't give up on you." We want all students and parents to feel that we will not give up on them.

Overview
Pathways College Preparatory School (PCPS) is a community that educates the mind, body, and soul of each of our students in preparation for entrance into and success in college. We view college opportunity and success as a pathway to excellence and equity in life. Through our partnerships with families, community organizations, and universities, we seek out real-world learning experiences for students to enhance their skills and knowledge. As a result, graduates from PCPS will be able to use their experiences to think critically about personal, political, and professional responsibility and the impact of their choices on their lives, community, and the world at large.

Overview
P.S./I.S. 268 exemplifies a respectful, cooperative, and nurturing environment. Our mission is to create self-motivated, caring, and successful citizens by fostering independence and resourcefulness. Learners achieve academic success by collaborating, sharing values, displaying a zest for increasing their knowledge, and showing integrity and respect. Our school is a NYC Blueprint for the Arts model school. We offer comprehensive programs in art, dance, and music in all grades. Students in grade six are exposed to each art form. We are partnered with Urban Advantage and engage student in STEAM activities in our state of the art science lab. We collaborate with several cultural institutions which support our teachers, students, and families in preparing for future careers. The school also boasts a state-of-the-art library as well as SMART Boards in every classroom. We offer support for students who are aspiring to gain high school credits and/or attend specialized high schools. Over 90% of our students pass the New York State Common Core Algebra Regents.

Overview
Queens United Middle School supports our students in all aspects of their lives. Our students build and develop skills to be successful in high school, college, careers, and life through innovative teaching of challenging curricula. Our school consists of a four-house system where students will create and develop a student government, compete in scholastic and school spirit competitions, and have fun learning and interacting with each other. Queens United Middle School is a learning community consisting of three core pillars: critical thinking, civic responsibility, and academic-readiness. Our school values involvement and partnership with families throughout our students' middle school experience. All students build and develop the skills to succeed in high school, college, careers, and life by way of thinking critically about community issues and taking responsible action to effect positive change. Partnerships with organizations such as Turn Around for Children, College Connections, and Counseling in Schools also help to promote and build a positive school community.

Eagle Academy for Young Men III
Overview
Our scholars complete a challenging curriculum and are required to work hard, but they are not expected to do it alone. From the moment they enter Eagle Academy, scholars are provided with advisers, supportive mentors, and a devoted faculty committed to providing a strong support system for all of our young men. Eagle Scholars discover the importance of critical thinking, in-depth questioning skills, and the benefits of voluntarily seeking guidance in order to achieve success. With support from dedicated parents and teachers, we instill in our Eagle Scholars the effectiveness of strong work habits that they continue to develop throughout their upper school experience at Eagle Academy. We firmly believe that the more you apply yourself, the more you accomplish. A combination of high parental involvement, structured classroom experiences, strategic after-school programming, and an informed academic support team are the keys to our Eagle Scholars' success.

Collaborative Arts Middle School
Overview
The Collaborative Arts Middle School (CAMS) cultivates scholars, lifelong artists, and community activists within an environment designed specifically to meet the needs of the middle school child. Our school seeks to present our students with rigorous standards-based instruction while at the same time providing our youth with a technically-sound arts education, all with the goal of making our students college and career ready. Here, students take courses in humanities (an ELA and social studies combined course), math, science, financial literacy, writing, foreign language, physical education, and a series of performing arts courses. Our students audition for one artistic studio experience, which they commit to for three years. Through our advisory program, students work on life and study skills, as well as community service projects to build character and a sense of generosity.

Community Voices Middle School
Overview
Our students feel that teachers make learning fun. Students enjoy using their voices to create change in the school. Students participate in clubs and activities. At our school, the voice of the student is valued by the staff. Our parents appreciate the way we include them in their children's education, including updates from their child's educators and monthly PTA meetings. Parents enjoy volunteering and participating in the many celebrations that happen at the school. We believe it takes a village to raise a child. In grade six, scholars are welcomed into the CoVo community and learn of the values that bind our school. Students learn to appreciate the many components of community. In grade seven, CoVo scholars examine how their individual voices can be used as a vehicle for change. In grade eight, CoVo scholars use prior knowledge and skills to examine how global issues connect to their world and community. This focus is the final area of knowledge needed for students to effect change.

Overview
Students value the safe, nurturing, and responsive support that our staff offers. Students are proud to be a part of a dynamic academic community. Parents appreciate our caring school community where staff members identify students' needs and provide them with opportunities to improve academic achievement and social development. Students are provided with an extended school day, benefiting from an additional five hours of instruction per week. Technology is a centerpiece of the school including interactive flat panels in every class room, a 3-D printer lab, and an after-school robotics club. The school uses the Skedula system to provide a platform for parents to communicate with teachers and track their child's academic progress. Additionally, as a Community School with our partner, the Center for Supportive Schools, the school provides additional social-emotional supports for students and families through the Peer Group Connection program, where incoming sixth graders are mentored by eighth graders. Sixth graders also enjoy our annual retreat to Camp Ramapo, where they can build strong bonds with their classmates and teachers to support them throughout middle school.

Boerum Hill School for International Studies
Overview
The Boerum Hill School for International Studies is an International Baccalaureate French Language Public School that serves 600 students in grades 6-12. With the implementation of the International Baccalaureate philosophy and mission, we aim to support learning for all students that is both challenging and relevant to real life. We offer a rigorous and engaging curriculum that enables students to understand and manage the complexities of the world and provide them with the skills for taking responsible action for the future. Students are enrolled in French Immersion courses and are encouraged to participate in our early bird and/or after-school program (which includes: theater, soccer, debate, chess, basketball, table-tennis, coding, and dance). Students receive a comprehensive liberal arts education grounded in inquiry and project-based learning, while participating in numerous educational trips and excursions. Middle school students will take the Algebra, Living Environment, and US History regents in the eighth grade. With parent consent, students have the option of going off campus for lunch. Parental involvement through our Leadership Team, the PTA, volunteer work, and fundraising efforts foster a successful school community.

The Evergreen Middle School for Urban Exploration
Overview
At Evergreen Middle School, we believe that children learn best by doing. Students love the urban exploration and hands-on learning opportunities at Evergreen. Classes feature fieldwork, experiments, and group projects. After-school and lunch time clubs allow children to pursue their passions. Parents like our school's focus on developing independent, responsible thinkers. Our advisory program allows students to get to know their peers, develop their leadership skills, and solve problems with their classmates. Advisory also allows students to develop a close relationship with an adult member of our staff as well as participate in a student-selected community service project.

Overview
At Samuel Stern (P.S. 7), we provide a well-rounded education that supports the growth of all children. In addition to rigorous Common Core-aligned academics, we offer unique learning opportunities through partnerships with outside organizations. Edible Schoolyard NYC enables our students to participate in cooking and gardening courses. Through the use of our garden, students and families even have the opportunity to harvest their own vegetables. We have a top-notch music program, consisting of a concert and jazz band, a dance program created in conjunction with the National Dance Institute, and championship winning sports teams. Our incentives for academic achievement include monthly award ceremonies and special opportunities for study at some of New York City's elite cultural institutions, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Through initiatives like these, we hope to empower students to be agents of change within our school, their East Harlem community, and the entire world.

Renaissance School of The Arts
Overview
We aim to provide a place where education has no limits and no boundaries. Our programs focus on performing arts, science exploration, and math enrichment. We combine core content instruction with exposure to the arts, including a visiting artist program, providing students with many opportunities for success. During their three years at Renaissance School of the Arts (RSA), students receive intensive training in their chosen arts field. Upon graduation, students are ready to audition for performing arts high schools, and will have a strong foundation in all of the arts. Through our partnerships, the arts are integrated into all academic curricula and culminate in students participating in a professional performance. At RSA, we are passionate about the arts and have designed a program that supports that passion.

Global Technology Preparatory
Overview
Global Technology Preparatory Middle School offers students unique technology opportunities, internships, extracurricular activities, and expert instructors that teach and value students as individuals. Parents appreciate the continual updates on student progress, the numerous community events, and the online access to school/classroom activities. Incoming sixth graders' school day at Global Tech Prep will begin at 8:45am and will conclude at 5:45pm after Citizen School programming. We are partnering with Citizen Schools, an Expanded Learning Time program, that will work with all sixth-grade students on extra homework and academic help, provide apprenticeship opportunities, and go on field trips with the students. Global Tech Prep uses MacBook Pro computers in every classroom, which means that learning is blended between fun online activities/lessons and traditional instruction. All students store their work using Google Classroom and eighth graders present their portfolios to a panel of staff, students, and family members.

Isaac Newton Middle School for Math and Science
Overview
Isaac Newton Middle School is dedicated to developing mathematically and scientifically knowledgeable students. At INMS, students participate in a sequence of high level, challenging academic coursework and work collaboratively and independently to develop their problem-solving skills. As an Apple ConnectED school, we provide all of our students with access to iPads, AppleTVs, and a variety of applications that promote student thinking and achievement. City Year Corps Members and Citizen Schools Teaching Fellows push into classrooms to assist with small group instruction, tutoring and enrichment opportunities. While we value mathematics and science, we also provide students with access to the arts (theater & art) and enrichment opportunities (photography, gardening, financial literacy, robotics, etc.) during our after-school program. All of our eighth graders are required to take Regents examinations.

Overview
Central Park East II (CPE II) is a collaborative community where staff, parents, and students work together to create a safe, caring, academically rigorous, and joyful school environment. Our small size allows us to know each child and family well. CPE II provides an enriched education to all students. Students at CPE II receive instruction in the arts, including visual arts, music, movement, and dance. We will continue to give students the foundational skills, understandings, and habits of mind that will help them in becoming thoughtful readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists, and keen observers of the world, as well as ethical agents for change.

Overview
Our purpose is to make sure our students are college and career ready. We work with every member of our community to engage each child intellectually, socially, and emotionally. Students value the fact that we provide enriching experiences that extend beyond the classroom, giving them a well-rounded educational experience. Our teachers and administration are dedicated to our students' academic success. We offer accelerated courses, a collaborative team teaching model, and an academic intervention program for at-risk students. We also work closely with our after-school partnership, where together we focus on academics, the arts, sports, and real-life skills. We have a school website (is131.org) and an academic reporting system (pupilpath.com) established to increase communication among parents, students, staff, and administration. Our website includes the school calendar, class pages, grade newsletters focusing on celebrations, and upcoming events as well as links to educational materials.

Overview
Serving students and their families from the Bronx, J.H.S. 123–The Bronx Urban Community School school of science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) is the place for middle school students who are looking to be effective problem-solvers and powerful communicators in a rapidly changing 21st century world. We believe students learn best when they are provided with real-world opportunities to learn by engaging in inquiry, research, and reflection through science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics that are relevant to their lives. Students appreciate teachers immersing them in rigorous and engaging project-based curricula, while nurturing them to be empathetic, independent individuals capable of shaping their own futures. Students have the opportunity to build leadership through participation in sports teams, student government, and community service. We partner with outside organizations to provide extracurricular and academic support services.

Overview
The goal for all students who attend Dunbar Middle School is to "GET BETTER EVERY DAY!" Our approach to education is identified by creativity, collaboration, and community. Students engage in problem-based learning in math, hands-on activities in our state-of-the-art science lab, presenting and justifying claims in social studies, and using the Teacher's College Writers' Workshop in ELA. Our partnership with Lincoln Center exposes our students to the arts and gives our community access to Lincoln Center, as well as to free shows at our school by world renowned performers. We partner with Children's Aid Society to offer a comprehensive approach to education for the benefit of our students and their families. We will identify the strengths and needs of each student, extend school hours to expand learning time, work with our students to become more college and career ready, and engage families in the educational experience.

Overview
Students are excited about how we integrate technology and instruction, providing hand-held remotes, interactive whiteboards, laptops, software, and web-based technology in order to prepare them to excel in today's digital world. Parents appreciate our individualized approach to instruction which addresses students' many learning styles. We are a community that serves grades 6-12. Our students are divided into four houses at each grade level and each house is divided into two gender-based living groups, each headed by an advisor. Advisors follow students from grades 6-8 and have an average 12:1 student teacher ratio. Living groups compete to earn points to win the annual House Cup. Students can currently earn up to six high school credits while in middle school (Living Environment, US History, and Algebra I) and up to 24 college credits through our SUPA program partnership with Syracuse University if they stay with us through the twelfth grade (College Biology, Forensic Science, Psychology, Statistics and Probabilities, and College Writing).

Overview
The Urban Institute of Mathematics (UIM) stands by our mission statement: "I'm going to college... It's never too early to start planning for the rest of my life." UIM is a place where teamwork translates into STEAM work as we focus on science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics. Over the course of a scholar's three years at UIM they will have multiple entry points into a STEAM curriculum. Whether it be through web-design, our Makeosity Makers program, digital arts, or our math club, all scholars will be exposed to the world of STEAM. All classes are rooted in the Common Core and aim to prepare scholars for college and beyond. All scholars are enrolled in a strategic reading period as we believe sound literacy skills are the key to success in the future. A robust arts and foreign language program make for a well-rounded scholar and complement our rigorous core courses.

The Bronx Mathematics Preparatory School
Overview
The Mission of the Bronx Mathematics Preparatory School is to prepare students for success in college, leadership, and life. We achieve this mission by creating a student-centered environment that unifies the efforts of family, community and school to foster life-long learning, cross-cultural relationships, social responsibility, and academic excellence. The underlying belief at the Bronx Mathematics Preparatory School is that all students can go to college and that their preparation is our professional responsibility and moral obligation. We boast and are very proud of our students who have gained admission into Bronx High School of Science, High School of Environmental Studies, the Cinema School, and Theatre Arts Production School. We believe that with appropriate academic supports, students of all abilities learn more in courses with highly challenging content than in those with low academic rigor. It is the goal of the Bronx Mathematics Preparatory School to equip students with the necessary skills, strategies, and knowledge that will prepare them for success in middle school and high school resulting in them being college and career ready.

APPA's academic focus is on research writing and technology. Our campus houses a new state-of-the-art media center and library, as well as fully equipped science labs. All students must present an ELA portfolio at the end of the year featuring different examples of their best writing projects. Students also work closely with our after-school partner, the YMCA, which provides a successfully blended program that combines homework help, art, dance, and athletics into every day. All students are provided with differentiated academic interventions and our Restorative Justice Program and Peace Room empowers and teaches students how to mediate and solve differences as young adults.
