Overview Paragraph
Astor Collegiate Academy (ACA) is a college preparatory high school. Our focus on college begins in the summer STEM program prior to 9th grade and builds each year as students are given the opportunity to earn college credits through our Advanced Placement (AP) and CUNY College Now programs. Students are required to take a minimum of two advanced math courses, four years of science and earn a diploma with college readiness recognition. In the four years at Astor, students will develop and refine skills in critical thinking, inquiry, and collaborative approaches as they learn to self-advocate and take responsibility for their own learning. Socio-emotional habits are developed and sustained through advisory and college & career seminar courses each year.

Overview Paragraph
We offer a challenging, sequential, four-year pre-professional art program and an interdisciplinary academic curriculum within a close-knit school community. We offer two visual arts programs: one focuses on developing general knowledge, while the other prepares students to become professional graphic designers. Both programs emphasize skill-building, student creativity, interests, and community contributions. Our cultural partners provide learning experiences and additional resources for students and their families. Our small class size and project-based, student-centered curriculum provide individualized attention and prepare students for college and careers in the arts.

Overview Paragraph
Our school is writing a new chapter in our history as the best-kept secret in the Bronx. We have taken the small school feeling and combined it with the variety of courses, diverse student body, and world-class facilities that you can only get in a large high school environment. Our students take core academic courses and commit to one of six career academies. Our 12th graders earn millions of dollars in scholarships every year to attend universities like Fordham, NYU, St. John's, DePauw University, and Penn State. Students ask: "Why would I go anywhere else?" It is a class-leading education close to home. If it sounds too good to be true, come and visit for yourself.

Overview Paragraph
Our school fosters a realistic, relevant, and hands-on educational experience for students. We use collaborative approaches that benefit students by teaching them skills they will need beyond high school, such as the ability to work in teams, solve multi-faceted problems, and apply what they learn in various settings. Our class sizes are approximately 26 students per academic course, and advisory sections have an average of 15 students each. We offer an extended school day to provide structured time, individual attention, and other supports students may need to succeed, and have folded tutoring into the school day. Bronxdale helps each child develop the critical-thinking skills and habits of work necessary for success beyond high school.

We are a collaborative learning community that combines a challenging curriculum consisting of humanities, science, and math with an intensive arts program. The Arts studios bring together study in the traditional arts (dance, theater, fine arts, and music) with contemporary arts (film, multimedia graphic design, and animation). Through our partnerships our students gain special residencies both within and outside the school. Our students have the opportunity to participate in special programs, performances, exhibitions, mentorships, and internships. The entire school is actively involved in the process of building a democratic, self-governing community.

Overview Paragraph
Our motto is: "Children First-No Excuses-High Standards." The English as a New Language, Dual Language, and CTE Culinary Arts instructional programs enrich students' life skills. We build on students' rich identities and cultural beliefs to prepare them to be successful and fluent in English. The Dual Language strand offers monolingual-English, multilingual-English, and Spanish-proficient students the opportunity to become bilingual and biliterate in English and Spanish. The CTE program allows students the chance to gain skills-based experience and knowledge in the realm of culinary arts. The English as a New Language, Dual Language, and CTE programs can be taken independently or together.

Overview Paragraph
Since 1994, our graduates have gone on to succeed in city, state, and private colleges and pursue careers in business, media, social work, education, and technical fields. Through college classes, internships, and digital courses, we provide a broad range of learning opportunities and we leverage technology to maximize individualization, independence, and depth of learning. Our four-year Advisory curriculum focuses on the academic development, knowledge, as well as the critical thinking, research, and analytical skills necessary for college. At the Children's Aid Society Student Success Center, students work with a team of full-time counselors to explore college and career goals and complete college and scholarship applications.

Overview Paragraph
In September 1994, the New York City Department of Education, the Center for Collaborative Education, and the Coalition of Essential Schools sponsored the first systemic effort to redesign a large high school in the Bronx. Wings Academy was one of five pioneering small schools resulting from that effort, founded on the premise of helping young people use their minds well. Our primary goal is to develop students' habits of mind, which will encourage respect for lifelong learning, purposefulness, and success.

Our motto is: "Academic, artistic, and professional preparation for the 21st Century." Students achieve best when learning is applied to research, experimentation, creativity, and projects. Students participate in a four-year college preparatory curriculum, AP courses, college partnerships/trips, and present a college prep portfolio at the end of each school year. Students study visual art, design/photography, and film-making and complete four years of special arts topics seminars. Many enroll in accelerated visual, performing, and media arts academies. Our Advisory-Family program provides support and a strong peer community. Through student-centered learning and strong relationships, we nurture students' development and their potential.

Overview Paragraph
Brooklyn Academy High School is dedicated to educating students who are over-aged and under-credited in a nurturing environment. With small class sizes we aim to give students the individual attention they need to be successful. Our academic program is designed to be challenging, and allows students to engage in critical thinking and the action of self-representation. We expose students to college and career readiness, broadening their horizons on opportunities after high school.

Overview Paragraph
We are a small Consortium high school that values community activism and change agency. We help students find their voice through a non-traditional integrated arts curriculum. Project/Problem-based learning helps our students develop independence. They write and defend five thesis papers (PBATs) instead of Regents exams to earn a Regents diploma. ICT classrooms with two teachers ensure students with IEPs receive personalized support to meet their academic and social-emotional goals. We partner with arts institutions and artists across the city. We are also United Community Schools site, which brings resources to our school like PGC mentoring program, cooking, music studio, dance, and drama clubs and more. Come change your world with us.

Overview Paragraph
Modeled after the prestigious Boston Latin school and founded in 2006, The Brooklyn Latin School provides a liberal arts curriculum with an emphasis on the Classics and Latin language instruction. Early instruction emphasizes the acquisition of core knowledge of the key academic disciplines which students use as a foundation for deeper exploration in the upper grades. Widely regarded around the world as the most rigorous and comprehensive course of study at the high school level, the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme is integral to our curriculum. In all classes, students experience a strong and consistent emphasis on analytical thinking, structured writing, and public speaking, preparing them for the challenges of college work.

Students engage in coursework that promotes creative thought and technical proficiency. Students learn principles of design to articulate and defend their creative decisions. They learn industry methodologies to draft, communicate, and render physical prototypes of their designs. This ability to both create and build makes our students highly desirable for paid internships with industry partners.

Overview Paragraph
Williamsburg Preparatory High School is a small school with a big mission. We take ordinary kids and get extraordinary results. We provide a college preparatory education that focuses on supporting the whole child. Our school is built on four SHIPS: relationship, citizenship, leadership, and scholarship, and students are given individual attention to meet the expectations of these SHIPs. During 9th and 10th grade, students learn the skills necessary to be successful in high school, and take a majority of their Regents exams while being regularly exposed to a Common Core-aligned curriculum. In 11th and 12th grade, students concentrate on college preparatory courses to prepare them for the next stage of their life.

Overview Paragraph
Lyons prepares students for college, healthy adulthood, and lifelong learning. As a NYS Performance Standards Consortium school, for graduation, students are exempt from Regents exams except ELA. Instead, students present final Performance-Based Assessment Tasks (PBATs). Ninth and tenth grade students participate in roundtables where they present a final piece of work to staff, families, and visitors in small groups. Eleventh and twelfth grade students complete semester-long projects in a given content area. All students have an advisor and are offered elective classes to pursue their individual academic and career interests. We are a Restorative Justice school, offering support and structure, not punishment, for disciplinary matters.
