PS 94 offers classes in theater, dance, visual arts, and music. These programs consist of high levels of engagement through enjoyable and challenging learning experiences that are constructed around students' interests, learning styles and preferred modes of expression. All students receive instruction that is developmentally appropriate and aligned to the NYS Learning Standards in the Arts. The curriculum allows for instruction to develop a student's ability to express themselves, build skills and knowledge in a variety of forms and provide a sense of belonging in the school community. In addition, our afterschool programs are driven by three goals: developing talents, providing a broad range of enrichment experiences, and providing follow- up opportunities for all students based on their strengths and interests. We have partnerships with the Brooklyn Arts Council where students in grade 2-3 participate in music and theater. The TheatreMoves program for our kindergarten, first grade, and second grade students addressed literacy and language development through theater and movement using social emotional learning.

In the 2020-2021 school year, PS 124's visual arts program will continue to offer sequential, skills-based learning with rich experiences in the arts, and opportunities for performance and exhibition of students' achievements, aligning with NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Instruction in the visual arts will address the Common Core Standards, build content knowledge, comprehend and critique artwork and, value evidence, use technology capably, and provide diversity in perspectives and cultures. Visual arts learning focuses on creating art with varied use of media and materials while discussing and comparing different art forms and artists. This includes 2- and 3-dimensional work. Students participate in trips to museums, local theater and music events. With all the students back in the building, there will be student art exhibits, celebrations of their art achievements and parent involvement in the arts program. Our goal is to receive some grants to bring more diverse arts program to the students at PS124 that would include music or dance or theater.

PS 130 offers visual arts, music and theater to all students in grades PreK-5. Our partnership with ArtsConnection provides visual art and theater instruction within a puppetry curriculum, as well as music instruction in the Young Talent program. Teachers incorporate dance and yoga into daily classroom activities. Our PTA provides support through volunteers and fundraising.
We also provide music instruction in grades K-2 using Music and the Brain and Carnegie Hall Musical Explorers resources including a virtual Musical Explorers concert from Carnegie Hall.
Grades 3-5 receive recorder instruction and selected band instruction through a VH1 Save the Music grant.
Q43 1
Last year we designated a classroom as a FabLab, in which students can explore STEAM learning, which we were unable to use this year,
and intend to use next year.
We also have two rooms dedicated to music that we were unable to use, because of CDC social distancing guidelines and intend to use next year, one of which is a keyboard lab. The same is true for our two dedicated art rooms, which we also intend to use next year.

PS 131 believes that looking, making, and responding to art is very important, particularly for our English Langauge Learners (ELL), our Students With Disabilities (SWD) and our general education population. We have a high percentage of ELL students (approximately 50%) and about 18% of our students have disabilities, and we see the arts as a safe place of expression outside of perceived limits allowing them to engage fully in the experience without being hindered by any inability they might feel. Often, the students most successful in the visual arts may not be able to communicate in English, but their creation gives them the tools for self-expression they may not find elsewhere. This feeling of success and self-expression can open a door to learning and allow them to grow in all subject areas. We have a close and long-standing relationship with our arts partners who all share our school’s philosophy. Studio in a School and The Brooklyn Conservatory of Music have been working with our students for 20 + years. This year we added Dancing Classrooms for ballroom dancing for our fourth graders and began an early childhood (PreK) pilot program with Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Our goal is to provide a diverse menu of arts across disciplines and grades. The benefits that staff and students receive from these programs are immeasurable.
Q43 1
We were very excited to expand the scope of the ELL + SWD grant work with Studio in a School this year - in addition to working with our third grade students, Studio was able to bring their DOE/ELL pilot program to the 2nd grade. The teachers worked closely with the Studio teacher to collaborate and plan lessons to foster greater written expression, particularly among our MLL and SWD population. Although this year was difficult in many ways, and we were not able to schedule as many residencies as we would have liked to, we were also able to take part in an early childhood pilot program with MoMA, which was a great success. We hope that funding will allow us to continue to offer these, and many other programs, in the future.

At Charles O. Dewey, students have their normal Common Core curriculum infused with technology, career readiness, social justice, racial equity curriculum, and the Seven Habits from the "Leader in Me" program. We are very successful with several shows throughout the year where we showcase multimedia artwork and performances created from our student body, and through our partnerships that were formed with Aperture, Theatre Moves, Working Assumptions, The Arts Committee of the US Second Circuit Court of Appeals, DiverCity Lens, Park Avenue Armory, Diversity Lens, and our in-house CBO Center for Family Life. Through these collaborations, students have participated in art internships around mural execution and curating, art seminars, dance, music performances, and workshops that connect them to artists in their community. Opportunities for creativity are limitless through a wide range of extracurricular activities, trips, and project-based learning in all content areas using STREAM (science, tech, reading, engineering, art, and math).

Guitar class consists of a mix of direct instruction, independent practice, small group work and complete ensemble rehearsal. Students learn to read standard notation, tablature and chord charts in a variety of styles starting with folk, folk rock, and blues. All advanced students will be introduced to basic improvisation, extended harmonies, and introductory classical right hand technique. However, advanced players usually pick a classical or jazz focus. In Glee, students learn how to execute the fundamentals of singing, including posture, breathing, pitch, tone production, and basic ensemble skills. Students will also develop their opinions of how music affects our society. The students approach music from various angles to build their repertoire, vocal skills, and knowledge of vocal techniques and genres. Their repertoire includes music that speaks of social justice, holiday tunes, and current appropriate pop culture songs. Art students work with many different media, including print making, charcoal, oil pastels, india ink, tempera paint, collage, clay, paper sculpture, fabric, wire sculpture, plaster, photography, animation, colored pencils, water-colors, acrylic paint, and drawing pencil. Students begin with learning to draw from observation which is the basis for all the other art media used in the class. Students are required to write about art but the emphasis is on engaging students through projects that are relevant to teen culture and the community.

During the 2020/21 school year, our arts programming was significantly impacted. We are looking forward to continuing our comprehensive arts structure when it is safe to do so. Our cluster teachers include one visual arts teacher and one theater arts teacher. Every class in grades K-5 receives one period of instruction in each discipline. We also have a music program that is funded by the PTA. Students in every class receive instruction one period a week from our music teacher. Students in every grade visit arts organizations throughout the year. These community based organizations include the Brooklyn Museum, Chen Dance Center, CSI Center for the Arts, The Queens Museum and the Whitney Museum of American Art. We also have a ballroom dance residency program for our 5th grade students.

PS 169, Sunset Park School is a Title I elementary school with a diverse population of 1214 students. This year we were challenged by the pandemic and forced to restructure our educational programs and shift into remote learning. The arts in particular became a driving force to calm and heal the social-emotional toll that this pandemic took on our students. Through remote dialogue, exposure to art history, encouragement and creativity, we were able to connect and support our students’ emotional and intellectual needs. Our unique arts curriculum offered our students daily exposure to a sequential Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts based visual art, music and drama programs aligned with Common Core State Standards (CCSS). Despite the shutdown of schools and the challenges with Covid-19, students mastered new techniques, engaged in intellectual art conversations and regularly submitted unique artwork to art contests. Some of their many accomplishments are: five exemplary artworks included in the Brooklyn Borough Arts 2021 Virtual Festival; a semi-finalist to the PSART exhibit; eight exemplary artworks included in NYCATA’s “Inside/Outside” exhibit; and five more exemplary artworks in the NYSUT Covid-19 art exhibit. Our own grades 3-5 visual arts exhibit is going to highlight our students’ artistic voices during this unprecedented year. This coming year, through a continued social-emotional approach and hands-on art-making in the classroom, we are eager to continue to support our emerging artists and foster their appreciation for the arts.

P.S. 172 offers a comprehensive foundation in the arts. Arts teachers work together to bring a multidisciplinary and culturally responsive arts education to our students. In dance class, students learn creative movement, cultural, and traditional dance technique. Students learn to improvise, choreograph, perform, and critique. We explore historic and current dances from around the world and hone our skills in creating choreography and being discerning audience members. In visual arts class, students partake in a wide range of art-making processes and experiment with various media and techniques as they learn about art and artists from an historical and contemporary perspectives. In music class, students experience a wide variety of musical genres, songs, composers and instruments, including recorder and keyboard. They develop musical skills and concepts needed to succeed in any general music setting. Instruction draws on musical learning methods, including the Orff Shulwork, Kodaly, and Dalcroze methods in order to allow students to explore their voices, strengthen ear training, practice instruments and develop confidence. Through their studies in all our arts disciplines, students learn team work, problem-solving, expression, vocabulary, social skills, self-confidence, creativity, and respect for the many people and cultures that create our diverse environment. Social studies and classroom vocabulary curricula are integrated into arts lessons to further support student learning.
Q43 1
This year's art programming was very difficult because of the pandemic. Our visual art teacher taught in classrooms and struggles to adapt without all materials at the ready. Music and dance were also space variable. In person, arts teachers worked with classes compactly for two week sessions and then often didn't work with the same class again until months later. Remotely, students consistently had dance class on zoom each week, art via residency with outside provider, and music only when the school was closed. All arts teachers have tried to have a wonderful and rich teaching year with our students but we have been unable to create all of the performances our students generally love.

During this challenging year, the arts and classroom teachers worked diligently to provide P.S. 230 students with a strong arts program.

Staffing and programming changed multiple times this year. Some students participated in fully remote instruction. Other students were blended remote, and later in the year many students were able to return in person full time.

Students learning remotely participated in visual arts weekly, and some grades had music. Many in person classes received music education with our music teacher. Classroom teachers often did music activities with their students too. Dance was provided both remotely and in person by our music, physical education, and classroom teachers. Visual arts was not provided in person this year, but students engaged in art with their classroom teachers. Some grades participated in outside remote arts residencies.

Our younger students participated in Community Through Music with Suzi Shelton. These virtual sessions were enjoyed by both remote and in person students.

Fifth grade continued their tradition of an end of the year talent show. This year it was virtual.

Our school came together to prioritize the arts to empower our students through the arts.

These are the types of arts experiences that should be available for all PS 261 students in each grade, every year: 1. Core arts discipline instruction in visual arts, music, dance and theater every year for every student with a full-time certified teacher providing a year-long curriculum; 2. Arts integration experiences that bring in interdisciplinary arts across the curriculum in connection with learning in all subject areas; 3. Arts enrichment classes, performances, or residencies that add to or supplement instruction in the arts and arts integration; and 4. City, community, and/or neighborhood-based arts experiences like field trips and other real world experiences outside of school.

This year was a challenging year given the circumstances of remote learning and hybrid learning bought on by a pandemic. Yet PS295 continued to embrace its strong commitment to the arts. Our students continued to receive visual arts, music and drama with a ten week dance cycle provided virtually by the Brooklyn Arts Council and their Art Residency Program. This year our arts education teachers collaborated with our classroom teachers to create opportunities to mesh our DEI work with arts education. This work allowed for the students to make creative, meaningful connections which culminated with some amazing projects.

Students admitted to Digital Arts and Cinema Technology High School choose between the two arts tracks: Digital Arts or Cinema Production. They will then embark on a four-year intensive study and production course sequence. In each track, students will learn fundamental and complex concepts and skills necessary in the respective fields while simultaneously being provided the time, support, and reflection to develop their artistic body of work. The respective programs have developed partnerships enabling seniors to participate in internships before graduation. All students will graduate with a minimum of eight credits in the arts.

Dance students study jazz, contemporary choreography, and world dance. Students learn and demonstrate choreography as well as choreograph in groups with their peers. Music students learn to play an orchestral instrument and work together in small and large ensembles. Students study music notation, music theory, music history, composition, improvisation, and a wide variety of musical genres from around the world. Theater students engage in improvisation, scene study, monologue study, playwriting, and playmaking, design, and will read and perform the works of contemporary and classic playwrights. Visual arts students use art elements, skills, techniques, and processes to structure visual artworks in the media of drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, photography, illustration, and design with an emphasis on developing well-rounded visual arts portfolios. Students use processes of critical analysis to support personal judgments of visual artworks to better understand the range of artistic traditions of different cultures, time periods, and art movements.

Brooklyn Collaborative is an NYC Outward Bound School. We use the EL Education model which has its roots in Outward Bound. We are a diverse and respectful community committed to developing students and staff who are kind, open-minded, persistent, responsible, collaborative and courageous. We offer various arts classes for grades 6-12 that include case studies on current events, world cultures, and social justice issues. Grades 6, 7, and 8 have a strong foundation in general music, beginning instrumental studies, theater and movement, and visual arts. As students continue their studies in the arts in our upper grades, the classes become more specific. Some courses that are offered include Modern Rock Band, Evolution of Music, ASL Theater, Art History, Studio Art, and Art and Self. As a department, we align our curriculum to state standards as well as the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. With a focus on mastery based grading, we implement many formative assessments as students create high quality work. Our past partnerships have included New Victory Theater, Little Kids Rock, The Rock and Roll Forever Foundation, Acme Hall Studios, Groundswell, Reel Works, Brooklyn Academy of Music, and Brooklyn Arts Exchange.

The John Jay School for Law offers robust opportunities in the arts, including dedicated dance and fitness programs and visual art studio and electives. Students are also provided with the opportunity to participate in a year long afterschool dance program with culminating student performances. All students are given the opportunity to attend artist spotlights, spoken word performances and Broadway shows. In recent years, our students have attended performances such as Hamilton, Mean Girls, Aladdin, and dance performances at the Victory Theater. This year students attended virtual performances through the Roundabout Theater Company and had the opportunity to see their own screenplays come to life by the actors at the Manhattan Theater Company. Additionally, our school has been awarded a school partnership program for four years and additional arts funding starting in the fall of 2021 with the Exploring the Arts Foundation.

The arts are vehicles for expression of ideas that serve to enhance educational, academic, and social experiences of children at the school. The arts develop intelligence, competencies, and skills that have a direct link to academic performance and social emotional health. Our goal is to allow students to experience a rich and diverse arts program. Currently, we have a full-time visual arts teacher and a full-time dance teacher providing lessons across all grades. Pre-pandemic, we developed a partnership with Creative Music Programs to ensure our students received music instruction. We hope to continue this partnership next school year. For three years, we have partnered with New Victory Theater, and our students have gone on several field trips and received in school theater workshops. This year students had access to New Victory's virtual curriculum. During this blended school year, we wanted to offer an equitable arts experience for both remote and in-person students. Our STEAM and visual arts programs collaborated to celebrate Lunar New Year. In person students engineered a robotic dragon, and remote students designed its head. Students also designed and printed "dragon dancers" on a 3D printer. Dance and art creations were shared virtually throughout the year making connections to technology and exploring video and sound editing for dance. Two of our core values at PS516 include creativity and resilience. The arts have and will continue to foster these in our students!

Brooklyn High School of the Arts is Brooklyn's official arts school. A District 15 school located in downtown Brooklyn, it is the only fully screened arts school in the borough. The intensive arts curriculum prepares students for conservatory and higher education programs as well as careers in the arts. It boasts one of the most accomplished performing and visual arts programs in the City of New York. The vocal/instrumental music program ranks among the finest in New York and achieves top scores while performing at the highest level at state and city-wide competitions annually. The visual arts program routinely wins major distinctions and has been featured in galleries across the country. It is a pipeline to major art universities here in New York and nationally. The dance program features the finest instructors in NYC and supports dance students in receiving scholarships to college. The spring dance concerts are highlights to the entire community. The drama department features three main-stage productions and several smaller performances every year. They are regularly featured in the Schubert Theater Festival on Broadway. Students may also pursue musical or technical theater. As one of ten "Exploring the Arts/Tony Bennett" partner schools, Exploring the Arts (ETA) provides students with many opportunities for real world internships and professional residencies in the arts. Students graduate with a New York City Arts Endorsed Diploma along with their Regents and Advanced Regents Diploma

Students take a three year, six credit sequence in the arts that includes visual arts, dance, instrumental music and multi-media art. Students switch teachers at the end of the each semester to have a greater appreciation for the multidisciplinary array of the arts that our teachers are capable of offering. Ninth graders spend one semester taking 2D art which includes drawing, painting, and print-making, and one semester taking 3D design which includes clay and mixed materials. Tenth graders take one semester of dance and one semester of music. Eleventh graders take one semester of digital arts which includes animation and photo-editing and one semester of craft arts where they create usable objects out of textiles and learn how to sew. We offer a variety of elective art classes that students take 3x/week, including advanced music, advanced painting, ceramics (complete with a kiln and wheels), graphic design, comic book arts, ballet, and more. Students in the afterschool program can audition for visual arts, dance, choral and theater troupes. Students can also join one of the many arts clubs we offer such as Makers Club (woodworking, 3D printing), filmmaking with local professionals, and photography club led by our librarian. We also offer many STEAM related activities that involve arts in an interdisciplinary context.

At Academy of Innovative Technology, students participate in a variety of diverse projects through a wide range of professional art methods and materials. Students in visual arts focus on drawing and painting through a lens of contemporary art practices. Students in graphic arts develop a range of projects including photo editing and digital illustration using Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. Work culminates into student-designed exhibitions throughout the year for our school community to enjoy.

Our arts program was adapted this year to fit the needs of remote and hybrid students. Ninth, 10th, and 12th grade students were offered adapted courses that offered instruction and support in creating performing, visual, and photography arts as specific electives were not available this year due to teaching constraints. Students created passion and skill projects within a specific art purpose and an original art series across several mediums. Students explored mixed-media drawing/painting/collage, digital photography, costume and fashion design, and photo editing to create visually and conceptually compelling works of art that fulfill aesthetic, expressive, narrative, and/or political art purposes. Students had the opportunity to engage in supplementary arts experiences through Student Learning Labs and clubs such as art, film, music, and drama. Our drama club wrote and produced several successful community-building events, including remote performances that were selected to be a part of the Shubert High School Theatre Festival. The Art Department hosted two virtual art shows and more than a dozen students were selected to be a part of the Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival. We hope to be able to continue offering rigorous and meaningful arts experiences moving forward in a greater range of media, including graphic design, music production, and film editing.

At PS 896, students engage in learning that is authentic, significant, fun, and incorporates 21st-century skills. As we are currently a Pre-K to grade 2 school, we utilize a student-centered inquiry approach to learning, in a relationship-driven environment. We prepare children to be responsible, resilient, compassionate, and collaborative learners able to engage at the highest levels of discourse. At PS 896, we integrate the content areas with the arts in order to provide our students with an enduring understanding and a purposeful application of knowledge. Students will demonstrate future readiness for global cultural competency and perspective. This year we launched the school's art program which centers experiential learning and teaches art-making skills through a curriculum that privileges the process of making over the product. During the 2020 - 2021 school year, PS 896 has partnered with Sunset Spark in order to provide our students with opportunities to explore STEM through artistic projects and investigations. This year we also partnered with BiLingual Birdies and Third Street Music School Settlement in order to provide our students with opportunities to learn through music and movement. Our students are provided with one period a week in STEM-Art instruction with an educator from Sunset Spark. In addition, we have incorporated arts into our social emotional learning curriculum in the classroom.

The Crispus Attucks Young, Gifted and Talented Arts Studio is dedicated to developing observation skills, technical ability, and creating finished artwork to encourage self-confidence, knowledge, and enthusiasm. Our program is designed to enrich students through the visual and performance arts. The arts curriculum is directly aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards for visual and performance arts. Our goal for this year was to spark students’ thinking, creativity, and leadership skills by providing a comprehensive and engaging program. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, students were introduced to the arts through remote learning. Students were inspired by this new way of learning which enabled exposure to virtual field trips, including museums, zoo's and cultural arts centers around the country and the world. This use of innovative teaching practices in virtual classrooms included art tutorials, games, and interactive visuals. It allowed the students to enhance creativity using a variety of mediums and differentiated learning styles. Students were encouraged to use technology as well as everyday items found around the house creating a variety of artworks that express a new form of artistry.

Even through an unprecedented year of teaching and learning, our students developed their artistic skills and found new vehicles for creative expression during remote and blended learning. Every student in our school received high-quality visual arts instruction on a weekly basis provided by our NY State certified K-12 visual arts teacher. During remote and in-person learning, our students explored and expressed themselves in 2D and 3D media. Lessons were aligned with the NYC Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and were designed to provide ample opportunities for student choice, self-assessment, reflection, and the development of higher-order thinking skills. Our students practiced important SEL (social emotional learning) skills through the arts and our interdisciplinary curriculum reinforced the connections between content areas. Our classroom teachers incorporated the arts into project-based learning activities such as map-making, poetry slams, and illustrated informational reports. In addition to the visual arts, students benefited from high-quality multi-disciplinary arts instruction from The Urban Arts Partnership. Through the use of music, visual arts, and theater exercises, the Urban Arts Partnership EASE Program allowed students to stay engaged, express their ideas and emotions and to learn leadership skills in a virtual learning environment. Exemplary artworks made by our students were finalists in this year's PS Art, Brooklyn Borough Art Festival, and the DEP Art & Poetry competitions.

Stephen Decatur Middle School 35 arts program for the 2020-2021 school year continues to advance with committed educators in the disciplines of visual arts and dance who have worked diligently in collaboration with our school's instructional focus and various disciplines. Since the beginning of 2020, several of our students have lost immediate and extended family members to COVID-19. Our school community has and continues to be disproportionately affected by the pandemic. Many of our students face personal health barriers that prevent them from joining in-person learning. Many students tend to responsibilities beyond their schoolwork such as caring for siblings, cousins, or even elder family members. While our students continue to overcome hardships in their daily life, they express themselves through art and develop building blocks for expansive, bright futures. We draw, paint, and dance together through live classes in Zoom sharing both contemplative and joyful moments. We look closely at works by artists and strive to become young artist as well. Students share their own work with one another learning to show confidence in creativity. Students design posters, t-shirts, and choreograph dance routines for Black Lives Matter, respond to other ongoing movements and social justice, and collaborate with local mutual aid and non-profit groups to strengthen our communities. As a community of artists, we find comfort and joy during times of stress and anxiety through making art.

We provide music instruction through the Noel Pointer Strings Program. We have an F- Status music teacher who provides instruction to students weekly. Students view and participate in monthly assembly programs written and produced by the teachers. Students in music programs participate in concerts as well. Our students have the opportunity to sing/compete at the Music Memory Program yearly.
We also have Keys 4 Success Piano instruction. Students are learning how to play the piano during weekly instructional lessons.

The Brooklyn Brownstone School offers both music and visual arts to all of its students two to three times a week. The goals of our arts program promote serious artistic study while also making inter-disciplinary connections to core subjects. We have aligned our instructional goals with the Common Core Standards and the Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. The visual arts program includes working with various kinds of materials, art history, and an afterschool art club for qualified students. The music program includes choral music, music history, music theory and instrumental music. We participate in Little Kids Rock creating student bands, giving meaningful experience to careers in music, and team building. This program includes learning how to play keyboard, music theory for beginners, experiencing a variety of musical styles, composing, and improvising. Opportunities to see students' artistic talents are available throughout the year. Community meetings with student performances are held twice a month. Student art is continually posted on the walls of our school. We also partner with Jazz at Lincoln Center's "Jazz for Young People", three interactive concerts that are well attended and two in-school student lead talent showcases as well as monthly musical performances aligned with our character building curriculum, "Heartwood". Musicians and artists visit from the community to provide instruction and information about careers in music. Activities reinforce commitment to lifelong learners.

Foundation classes in visual art and theater are offered to grades Pre-K through 5. Our visual arts curriculum is aligned to the NYC Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Through exploration of painting, drawing, printmaking, collage, sculpture, and 2D design, students develop an understanding of the elements of art and the principles of design as well as the five strands of arts learning. In addition, our music program has a focus on multiple instruments, song studies, beat recognition, and drum sequencing. We also offer learning through theater arts programing connecting historical and cultural concepts covered in the classroom and expressed through performance. We offer afterschool enrichment programs in visual arts, music, theater, and dance. Further investigations of dance, theater arts performances, and art and design exploration are incorporated throughout the PS 6 arts philosophy. Our goal is to continue to grow the PS 6 arts program each year by adding another discipline in order to deepen the imaginative and creative capacities of our students. Our goal is to educate the whole child. The arts are a large contributor to this philosophy.

PS 12 continues to try to provide every student with a variety of arts experiences whether they take place on or off-site during the school day, afterschool, on the weekend, or school holiday. Our goal is to provide every PS 12 student with a broad sense of the arts. Many of our students do not leave the community. Therefore, it is imperative to us that every student attends concerts, goes to museums, and experiences live theater. It is also important to us that our students be able to create their own art through hands-on experiential sessions and working with actual artists so that they can share their experiences with our students. PS 12's administration and teachers believe that the more enrichment we can bring to our students, the more we follow our vision of educating the whole child. We want our students to experience the world beyond their community, yet realize the possibilities the arts can bring to their world within their homes and their lives.

Our scholars in grades 6-8 take elective courses in dance, culinary, drama and vocal. Upon entering the 8th grade, scholars are enrolled in a 9th grade visual arts class where they can earn one credit for high school.
Scholars are provided opportunities to participate in our afterschool programs such as band, dance ensemble or Broadway Junior.
Performances are held in the Winter and Spring to showcase the scholars talents across the ARTS.
Students' voice is a key element in our ARTS department that allows for student choice and opportunities to lead events.

PS 91 School promotes the development skills of our students in many forms of visual and performance arts. Students progress through the element of art and principles of design such as line, color, shape, form, shape, value, texture, pattern emphasis, contrast, balance, unity, variety, movement, and proportion. The programs offered in our school includes drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, and other crafts along with movement and dance performance. This year PS 91 engaged in a cultural organization for Puppetry in Practice as well as music with National Chorale. Remote instruction was provided via Google classroom to both in person and remote students. As a result, all classes from PreK to grade five received arts instruction. It was a great way for the students to master and apply their talent towards preparing for the holiday and Black History Month shows and our PreK, kindergarten, and fifth grade graduations. Our goal is to improve the basic artistic skills of our students and to aid them in their development. Students will experiment using different media and gain better understanding of how art reflects and impacts the life of each individual.

Public School 92 offers direct instruction in the genres of visual arts by an experienced teacher and music/dance by a cultural organization who integrate attendance at off-site cultural institutions and in-house student performances. Because of the Covid-19 Pandemic, most activities were conducted virtually. The cultural grant from our district elected official strengthened our efforts to work with an external partner to enhance the students' passion for African dance and music. Our goal is to increase opportunities for students to be participants in and observers of various visual art forms and musical performances. We also strive to incorporate the arts in our regular core content areas, particularly literacy and social studies. For the lower grades, Pre-K and K, the activities are infused in their daily routines and used to enhance their learning experiences. Our teachers provide opportunities for arts-related projects as we maintain gallery exhibits throughout the school building. This is accentuated during certain time of the year with special events such as Black History or Women's History Month. There is an emphasis on experiencing the arts at community museums and integrating it into the various units of study. At PS 92, we believe that the arts are an extension and essential component of a child's educational experience which enhance their learning and overall development. As a result, we make every attempt to expose them to various aspects of the art form.

The visual arts program at PS 138 helps students develop confidence, creativity, and literacy through creative projects. The curriculum is aligned with the standards and benchmarks set forth by NYCDOE Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts. PS 138's art program goal is to make art the starting point with art making. By connecting art to every subject in the school's curriculum, and by interconnecting a multidisciplinary program, students not only benefit from the structure of each class, but also from their diversity. The art program is integrating every subject in order to give students a rich, well varied, and all-encompassing art education. Through the exploration of a variety of media, drawings, collage, painting, and now theater, PS 138 is helping students develop an understanding of the principal of art and the elements of design. Students are able to use academic art language to discuss artworks and always cite "visual evidence" to support inferences, claims, and arguments made about a work of art. Goal 1: To increase student's awareness of visual arts and to introduce different artists, art elements, principles of design, and art forms to students. Goal 2: To demonstrate and develop arts methods that support students' achievement. Goal 3: To educate students about art as well as celebrate student's creativity. This year PS 138 partnered with The New Victory Theater to enhance art instruction in the middle school. Our visual arts program strives to give all students a well-rounded experience to create art.
