During this year, Urban Action Academy offered students art history and art appreciation classes through ILearn, an independent study platform. For next year, we hope to open our art studio again. Art is a form of expression and also an application of creative skill and imagination. The art studio will be used as a safe space where students with varied experiences will practice fundamental principles and techniques while simultaneously developing self-awareness, discipline, and independence by making artistic choices that tap into personal interests. The visual arts curriculum provides diverse pathways of learning in visual form such as drawing and painting, mixed media and photography. Students will observe and learn to comprehend, envision and interpret, reflect, invent and discover, create and make connections.

At P.S. 7 The Abraham Lincoln School, we strive to give our students the opportunity to exercise their creativity and develop arts literacy through making and discussing art, music, dance, and theater. Our students develop their communication and problem-solving skills through the arts in a creative supportive community that fosters confidence and self esteem. Because Common Core promotes the importance of all students studying the arts, we incorporate and enhance English language arts, math and content area instruction by connecting a genre or particular text, or a theme of a unit, to works of visual arts, music, dance, and theater. This allows us to utilize the arts as a powerful tool to develop and retrain skills of observation and interpretation that are the cornerstone of the Common Core.

At P.S. 13 Roberto Clemente, we support arts education and strive to provide all students with meaningful and exciting learning experiences that reflect all disciplines. We are firm believers that the arts can positively influence all academic areas. Our current arts curriculum is directly aligned to the Common Core State Standards. Visual Arts remains our primary arts program for Pre-Kindergarten through grade five, and is highlighted within our Wit & Wisdom literacy program, technology program and our science program. We continue to expose our students to a multitude of arts based learning experiences through residency programs, virtual field-trips and extra-curricular school-based programs. The students also participate in monthly gradewide assemblies, as well as special programs, which include: Winter Arts Festival, Black History, Spring Arts Festival, and Dance America. In addition, the students participate in a variety of events held by District 19 which includes Hispanic Heritage, Black History, and Annual Arts Festivals. We also incorporate a wide array of virtual field trips and arts based experiences through a variety of platforms including Discovery Education, the Museum of Natural History, the Brooklyn Public Library, PBS Media and the New York International Film Festival.
Q43 1
Every year we work to intensify the Arts education provided to our students here at PS 13. We work collaboratively to plan relevant arts based learning experiences, strengthen our current relationships with cultural organizations and focus on creating interdisciplinary connections that can augment our curriculum and tap into our student's artistic talents and abilities.
Our goal remains to provide Arts education for all learners, and integrate Arts disciplines through field trips, virtual platforms, residency programs, and grants. Student expression and creativity remain tremendously influential to us and inform our rationale when planning arts based learning experiences.

Cypress Hills Community School (P.S./I.S. 89) is proud to offer a range of arts experiences to all students Pre-K-8th grade. Our two in-house teachers (one visual arts and one music) provide students with a well-rounded education in the visual arts and music, including looking at art work, preparing art portfolios, art making, keyboard, choral, and instrumental music. After 19 years of partnerships with Young Audiences New York (YANY), and through this pandemic, students from grades 3-5 grade engaged in a six week, twice a week artist residency. In these residencies, teachers and artists partner with each other to provide students with opportunities in photography and film. In addition, we continue to be part of a band program through the Brooklyn-Queens Conservatory of Music. Our advanced and beginner band students continued to work virtually with their music teacher and delivered a band concert virtually to the school community and their families.

The P.S. 108K’s school community has always supported a comprehensive, enriching the arts program that encompasses all disciplines of the arts: visual, music, dance, and theater, whether in the classroom or remotely. It is our philosophy that through the arts, children develop a variety of channels to express themselves. The arts program is equitable in that the students can relate to the different dance and art genres. In order to reach our academic goals, we integrate the arts into all curriculum areas to provide an education that stimulates our students and provides equity for all. We offer all students opportunities to experience a rich arts environment with instruction in dance, visual arts, music, and theater. Through the arts, our students learn how to be creative, work cooperatively, stay focused, and believe in their talents, strengthening their self-esteem. Students’ artwork is showcased outside of the school community through state and local art exhibits. Also, our P.S. 108 students engage in afterschool enrichment visual arts classes. Our students' portfolios are accessible to parents online through the Artsonia App, Google Classroom, P.S. 108's website, Instagram and Class DoJo.

P.S. 149 Danny Kaye continues to provide students with high quality arts programs aligned to NYC Blueprints and a Common Core Standards-based curriculum. Students are offered extended activities such as visual arts, art club, Dance with Hope, Educational Alchemy Theatre, steel band, chorus, guitar club, The Little Kids Rock modern band, and Keyboard Club. Several of these clubs are led by professionals in the field, while others are facilitated by passionate and talented staff members. Many of these programs are offered as part of our existing day residency programs, while others are afterschool or Saturday programs. Our annual assemblies, concerts and arts festival connect school, families, and community in sharing the appreciation of the arts. We have maintained our long standing relationship with key cultural arts organizations such as Neighborhood Music and Arts and Yaffa Cultural Arts annually, as well as forming new bonds. Our Out of School Time (OST) community-based organization hosts an annual arts extravaganza for aspiring artists for our P.S. 149 school community members.
Q43 1
PS 149 is a 3k-5 elementary school located in the East New York section of Brooklyn. We have approximately 500 students with a hope to regain 100 more students as our numbers have decreased due to covid-19 and a transient population. We service predominately families that are economically disadvantaged and face challenges like temporary housing, limited health care and foster families. PS 149 has been a staple in the community and many of our staff members are former students and our families have been with us through generations. Our goal is to continue to serve the community and bring families joy showcasing our children in the arts.

P.S. 159 Isaac Pitkin continues to be dedicated to arts instruction, as well as the explorations and immersion in order to support social emotional development and learning. Through participation and our reading program Wit and Wisdom, our students' artistic talents continue to grow. Our scholars have the opportunity to plan, direct, preform and create works of art in all disciplines (in person and remotely). P.S. 159 encourages cultural understanding through nonstandard presentations of music and dance from their countries of origin. Teachers participate in their area of talent throughout the year. We use the arts to explore and understand the variety of cultures that create our unique school community. Through these experiences, our scholars gain an outlet of expression and understanding forging pathways for lifelong learners. It is our objective for the upcoming school year to embrace, empower and provide opportunities for our scholars to learn and express themselves through different art forms.

At I.S. 171 Abraham Lincoln, the arts program this school year consisted of visual arts classes taught by a certified visual arts teacher. Additionally, the community-based organization provided afterschool theatrical and dance activities for students. The technology teacher has infused visual arts through coding in the classroom. Arts has also been infused into social and emotional strategies and support for all students.
Q43 1
Our school was mainly hybrid, with a lot of students remote this year. In the past, we supplement our arts with our after school programs run by Cypress Hills Local Development Corp., theatre production, music classes, and paint nights/movie nights run through our PTA but because of Covid, we have had to suspend most.

For the 2020-2021 school year, P.S. 214 Michael Friedsam continued our chorus for 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students virtually. Piano instruction was also provided to all in-person 2nd to 5th graders, with an extended Piano Club. Piano students engaged in activities that encourage communication, observation, replication and creation of music, dance, and movement within their classes. This year we were awarded the Midori & Friends dance residency grant from Councilwoman Diaz for grades Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten for music residencies. We partnered with Funikijam and I Have a Song in My Heart virtually, and celebrated with a virtual culminating online performance. As a school we have participated in the annual District 19 Arts Fair. Contingent upon funding for the 2021-2022 school year, we plan to provide more arts related programs, residencies, and experiences next year for all of our students.

The J.H.S. 218 James P. Sinnott arts program for 2020-2021 focused on students obtaining mastery of the various skills necessary to succeed in the arts. Facilitators designed projects and performances that showcased student mastery of complex arts skills on a remote platform. Visual arts classes produced artwork that was visually stunning and masterfully executed. The focus was to continue to integrate art and technology in an innovative graphic design curriculum on a remote platform. Through Dance classes, students practiced and performed a variety of high-level performances that showcased their technical abilities, including stunning performances and artwork that was presented at the 3rd Annual Remote District 19 Arts Showcase and Black History Month Showcase. Dance is offered to our 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in a vibrant and approachable curriculum. We continued in our fifth year of Broadway Jr. to focus on adapting well-known Broadway performances via Broadway Bound Kids to inspire and empower our students through the performing arts. Remotely, we created a gallery of student work, open mic in Town-hall and arts clubs to provide student voice through distance learning.

P.S. 224 Hale A. Woodruff provides a robust, culturally responsive arts program. Prior to the pandemic, we strengthened our dance and music programs through our partnerships with Alvin Ailey and Asase Yaa. Currently, we have monthly art showcases. We also have monthly performances at our assemblies which honor the accomplishments of scholars. We have also infused the arts and computer-technology throughout our curriculum. Through our restorative practice program, scholars participate in theater role-play which supports their social and emotional growth.

At P.S. 273 Wortman, despite the pandemic and the many restrictions in place, we were able to offer our students 10 weeks of dance instruction for both our in-person and remote learners. The students thoroughly enjoyed this departure from the normal classroom routine and our hope is to provide a more varied arts program in the future.

At P.S. 306 Ethan Allen, our music program provided by our certified music teacher serves students in all grades. Each grade receives instruction aligned with the BluePrint for the Arts ensuring each child meets the benchmark for their grade. Music Play Online,Little Kids Rock and Rainbow Ukulele are the curricula used to provide our students with a well-rounded music education. Our pre-school students dived into music and movement, they explored high middle and low voice, and they also identified different tempos, and dynamics. Kindergarten through 2nd grade worked on developing voice, melodic direction, listening and responding to music and exploring long and short sounds. Third through 5th Grade learned how to read music notation, composed original songs, learned bucket drumming and engaged in computer music programs. We also had partnerships with BRIC arts foundation and Dance Wave providing our students with visual arts and dance instruction. We gathered via zoom and shared culminating digital performances consisting of both in-person and remote students. Our goal is to have students exposed to as many instruments , styles of music, and genres of art as possible, so they can graduate with a well-rounded arts education.
Q43 1
We serve in a school that provides 100 percent Free lunch to students. A very large percentage of our students live in shelters and/or NYCHA housing. We strive to expose our students to a variety of arts instruction that they would not have otherwise had access to.

At the Fresh Creek School we believe in educating the whole child. At the heart of this philosophy is a commitment to providing all of our students with opportunities to develop their many intelligences. To that end, we provided instruction in music and visual arts to every child. This year, using the Orf Method, we focused on developing a percussion and winds program, including training in the use of the recorder, African drums, and xylophone. Students also engaged in vocal training and choral singing. Our students received instruction in digital art making, video production, and digital music production. For our early childhood learners, we offered puppetry to develop their theater and music skills.

Brooklyn Gardens Elementary School has an interdisciplinary approach to the arts, building arts into the literacy, science, math, and social studies program. The program includes a blend of in-class and remote instruction and opportunities from the classroom teacher in addition to visual arts instruction from our visual arts, dance and music teachers. Our goal is to provide exposure and opportunities for all students across the arts including dance, theater, visual, music and performing arts to build their knowledge and passion for the discipline.

At PS 345 we fully support Arts education and strive to provide all our students with meaningful, and exciting learning experiences that reflect instruction in Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Theater.
The Visual Arts remain our primary Arts program for all students in Pre-K to Grade Five. This program reflects the BluePrints for the Arts and supports interdisciplinary instruction through its seamless alignment to our Wit & Wisdom literacy program.
This year we've incorporated numerous assembly programs highlighting culture through Music, Dance, and Theater. Hispanic Heritage, Black History and Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage were among the those showcased.
In addition, all of our classrooms became multi-purpose rooms as our teachers immersed their students in Visual Art, Music, Dance and Theater regularly, making connections to our literacy curriculum - Wit & Wisdom, as well as Social Emotional learning.
In addition, we also incorporated a plethora of virtual field trips and Arts based learning experiences through a variety of cultural organizations including Discovery Education, The Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, The Brooklyn Public Library, PBS Media and The New York International Film Festival.
Our first graders participated in an exciting Visual Arts residency program through Studio in a School as they learned about collaging, and all of our scholars in grades K-5 were provided with opportunities to enjoy musical storytelling through the Orchestra of St. Luke
Q43 1
As a school our goal remains to enhance the Arts education provided to our students through Visual Art, Music, Dance, and Theater. We work collaboratively to plan meaningful arts based learning experiences, strengthen our current relationships with cultural organizations and focus on creating interdisciplinary connections that can enhance our curriculum and tap into our student's artistic talents and abilities.
Our goal remains to promote Arts education in all modalities for all learners through clever programming and our continued work with various cultural organizations. Student expression and creativity remain incredibly important to us and inform our decision making process when planning all Arts based learning experiences.

At Frederick Douglass Academy VIII Middle School, most of our scholars were remote through the whole year with few coming back into the building during the last leg. The dance and visual arts teachers were remote at home and the music teacher was able to return to school when the scholars did. The arts department teamed up together to remotely teach the scholars units on arts history once a week and the second day a week scholars split into their specific disciplines to work on those individually. For example, 8th graders learned about the arts of India including, visual, dance, music, theater and food of that culture one day a week. The second day for example the visual artists worked on India based art projects, a mandala and dance were learning about and choreographing Indian dances. Music focused on audio engineering this year by creating sound foleys, a sound effect technique that involves creating everyday sounds for movies and television shows, and conducting and producing their own interviews. Scholars’ works, dances and sound productions were featured in the monthly assembly, multiple district cultural events including Black and Hispanic History month and a District 19 Arts Showcase.
Q43 1
Due to COVID19 a few things did not happen this year that would usually happen. Due to teachers and the kids being at home and limitations this caused we were unable to have our artists in residence that we usually do. The visual art classes usually have Studio in a School come in with an artist in residence. For dance, usually an African Dance teacher and/or Hip Hop dance teachers come in as artists in residence. Again, also because of COVID we were unable to have physical art shows, dance shows and music shows so our scholars were featured at our monthly assemblies and multiple district showcases. We usually go on multiple field trips to museums, activities and Broadway shows but again because of the limitations we were unable to do this. Hopefully with the September announcement of 100% full time we will be able to do all these regular activities we at FDAVIII love and make us special.

Performing Arts and Technology High School offers a varied experience in performing arts. Freshman year students take Introduction to the Performing Arts, where they receive a formal introduction to one of our arts disciplines (dance, drama, vocal music, and instrumental music), after an initial audition and placement process. Students then select a major in one of these four areas at the end of the freshman year. Sophomore year students study intermediate dance, drama, vocal or instrumental music. Students will begin their sequence of study in the major they selected at the end of 9th grade. Junior year students delve into advanced dance, drama, vocal music or instrumental music. Students will continue their studies in their chosen major. Senior year students attend an advanced studio in advanced dance, advanced drama, advanced vocal music, or advanced instrumental music. Students in the advanced studio will be engaged in development of professional portfolios and the creation of original pieces.
Q43 1
Our school is a performing arts school. We try to make sure we offer artistic options to our students. We have a full time band and dance teacher. Yet, we are still lacking funds because we would like to add additional staff to meet the artistic interests of our students.

This year at Cypress Hills Collegiate Preparatory School, art was done both remotely and in-person. The art program was based on a video game design using Minecraft Education with a focus on combining visual arts skills and computer programming skills. Units from the School of Interactive Arts that focused on using computer programming in art class were also integrated into the curriculum. Minecraft: Education Edition is an open-world game that promotes creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving in an immersive environment where the only limit is your imagination. Minecraft: Education Edition helps prepare students for the future workplace, building skills like collaboration, communication, critical thinking and systems thinking. The open learning environment gives students the freedom to experiment, encouraging creative self-expression and problem solving.

Our music program at East New York Elementary School of Excellence teaches our students the elements of a song, and music composition. Students have the opportunity to learn to play musical instruments (keyboards and drums) in a band setting, sing, and rap. This program enables our students to conduct a full performance, including instruments and vocals with a focus on contemporary music. The visual arts program here introduces new forms of art from art elements and vocabulary, to an artist or art movement, to integrating science, math or English language arts into a lesson, along with bringing in connections from their community into their artwork. Art is a vital part of any school’s make up. It allows students to have an outlet for expression in a safe space. Art is a way to boost confidence and to give a voice to those who may not have found it yet. Second and third grade students engage in visual arts to develop character-building skills and build cultural awareness. Students in grades 3-5 also have an opportunity to develop their coding skills.

At East New York Middle School of Excellence, our goal is to expose our students to the arts to build awareness of themselves and their culture. We offer students the opportunity to learn performance sign language with an infusion of dance and music to encourage them to speak "their truth." Most of our field trips are arts-based giving our students the opportunity to attend a variety of arts performances and events. Students are afforded the opportunity to attend operas at the Metropolitan Opera at Lincoln Center, performances at BAM and Broadway performances just to name a few. Additionally, our full-time music teacher engages our students with all forms of music throughout the year from African drumming to pop music. Additionally, our school is the proud recipient of a significant grant through the Matisse Foundation. This grant has afforded us the opportunity to partner with organizations such as BRIC to expand the range of arts programs we are able to bring to our scholars. Scholars now engage in offerings which include hip-hop , Afro-Caribbean dance, spoken word, urban street art, and African drumming. Our band plays at all of our school-based performances and activities as well as at venues around the city. In addition to a dedicated music room, our school has a dedicated dance studio. Lastly, East New York Middle School of Excellence has also partnered with VIP Online Academy to offer distance arts learning including tap-dance, graphic arts, and poetry/hip-hop development.

All new incoming students participate in a Introduction to Theater course, where they learn the craft of all three of our art major options. In their Sophomore year students at School for Classics have the opportunity to choose one of three art majors at our school. These include stage craft, which includes building the sets for our school performances and learning the craft of theater behind the scenes, actin,; where students learn the skills of performance in small acts and larger theater productions, or visual arts, where students learn the skills and techniques needed to build their art portfolio

The P.S. 48 Mapleton School is committed to educational growth in the arts. We will continue to develop in the arts discipline through professional development and increasing the use of technology. P.S. 48 provides students with the opportunity to showcase their learning of the arts disciplines through the winter and spring performances. Students also create and perform original music, small skits, and dances at community and school events. The Columbus Day Parade, Have a Heart, Musical Memories and Dancing Classrooms are other activities that enhance the students' creativity.

Ditmas I.S. 62 is comprised of three academies -a 6th, 7th, and 8th grade academy. This year, we were fortunate to offer arts instruction for all of our classes and grades. I.S. 62 offers visual arts, band, chorus, keyboard, dance, and theater programs in arts-specific rooms, including a state-of-the-art dance studio, a fully stocked visual arts room, a band room with brass and woodwind instruments, and a keyboard room with thirty hi-tech keyboards, and technology labs. Our school auditorium has new audio-visual technology access and a baby grand piano. Students in 6th grade participate in a rotation of the arts. Students in the 7th grade are screened and matched with a major arts class for the year. Students in the 8th grade continue with that major arts class for a second year and, in addition, pick up a second arts class as a minor. Each program adheres to the corresponding NYC Blueprint for the Arts and the New York State Common Core Learning Standards. It is and has always been our hope that our students have exposure to a variety of cultural activities, experiences and events that provide enrichment and assist in the development and growth of that student holistically. Due to COVID-19, some arts were offered solely remotely this year. We are thrilled that even in these circumstances, all students were exposed to arts classes as part of their programs.

In addition to a rigorous academic education, P.S. 69 Vincent D. Grippo School provides a highly rigorous arts environment. All students experience deep and challenging curricula in visual arts, music, dance, and theater programming which is provided by skilled professionals. All curricula are developed in alignment with the Blueprints for the Arts, Common Core Standards and Danielson's Framework. Our arts programs have always been the heart and soul of our school. We continued to have chorus, violin, and a mindful drumming group. We focused on supporting our students academically through the core subjects, as well as Social Emotional Learning. We incorporated many forms of arts into daily English language arts, Math, and Social Emotional Learning lessons. Students were immersed in the arts all year long, both remotely and in-person. Student artwork and performances were recognized at the District 20 Arts Showcase, Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival, and PsArt. Our visual artists submitted artwork to contests offered by New York City and New York State. Our school has also formed lasting relationships with several arts organizations such as the ArtsConnection, TADA Youth Theater, Carnegie Hall, and the Noel Pointer Foundation to provide students and families an opportunity to engage in the arts in and out of school.

P.S. 102 The Bayview is committed to an exemplary program in the arts and credits its success to the support it receives from all stakeholders-administration, staff, parents and our rich population of up-and-coming student artists! Despite this year’s challenges, art instruction at P.S. 102 encompassed visual arts, instrumental & choral music complemented by technology arts lessons. Rich in cultural diversity our arts lessons are sensitive to the needs of all of our learners providing students with creative outlet and voice. Curriculums are aligned with NYCDOE Blue Prints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Though unavailable in person, these P.S. 102 highlights are alive and well in our memories and we hope for the return next year of Art Gala, opera production, chorus performances, violin recital, STEAM Showcase, band concerts, talent show and international celebration. These events are a testimony to the rich array of arts experiences provided to students. P.S. 102 believes that the arts are an integral part of a successful school environment and support social emotional and academic achievement. A thriving collaborative arts environment aimed at the highest level of creative achievement is a cornerstone of the P.S. 102 philosophy. Remote instruction in the arts has shifted in format, but not in content, meaning or impact. This forged new platforms for teaching and learning, enriched exposure to technology and promoted awareness that cultural arts venues from around the world are just a "click" away.

P.S./I.S. 104, The School for Civic Leadership and Responsibility, provides an education which includes integration of the arts into students' daily instructional program. Additionally, arts education is provided by two full-time arts teachers, one in visual arts and one in vocal music. We were chosen through a grant for selected students to receive clarinet instruction for the 2020-2021 school year. We were also the recipient of a residency providing two grades instruction through dance, music, and theater leading to a culminating performance.

The Art program at P.S./I.S. 155 Nicholas Herkimer helps to broaden the students understanding of various cultures, past and present. This is achieved through the study of art history and the exploration and use of various techniques and materials, which help students to become well-rounded individuals, who are better equipped to tackle high school and be more prepared for college and career readiness.

P.S. 105 The Blythebourne has a strong commitment to arts education and recognizes it’s potential to enrich every aspect of teaching and learning. Our goals, strategies, and major initiatives center on supplying all of the student population with instruction in visual arts, music, dance, and theater, using the New York City Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, which are aligned to the Common Core State Standards. All students actively engage in the processes that constitute creation, performance, and participation in the arts. They respond to and analyze the arts with an understanding of the cultural dimensions and contributions of all arts disciplines. The arts instruction is implemented using a comprehensive and sequential standards-based approach, targeting the benchmarks in the blueprints. This allows students to be art makers, have literacy in the arts, make connections, be aware of community and cultural resources and develop into lifelong learners of the arts.

We believe art promotes rigorous content learning and academic achievement in all disciplines. The arts at P.S. 112 Lefferts Park benefit and meet the needs of all diverse learners. Students in our school receive weekly instruction in both art and music. We strive to provide a sequential learning experience that builds a strong foundation. Prior to the onset of the pandemic, students engaged in learning across all strands of the Blueprints for the Arts. P.S. 112 supported the arts through strong visual arts, music, and dance programs. We had many collaborations with arts organizations that provided students with additional exposure and experiences in the all the arts, including theater. We look forward to resuming our arts education programs and collaborations in the 2021-2022 school year.
Q43 1
Due to the current covid pandemic, many changes needed to occur in order to continue providing the arts safely and professionally. Our school carefully followed the New York City DOE, CDC and State mandated guidelines. Art spaces, and most classrooms during the 2021-2022 school year were used as multiuse classrooms. P.S. 112 made certain all remote students were provided art and music weekly. Next year we plan to resume all our arts education programs and collaborations.

P.S. 127 Mckinley Park offers a sequencial visual arts and dance program throughout the year. The students participate in hands-on activities in visual arts and learn about different artists and the history of art. The dance program teaches our students choregraphic movement based on various styles of dance for various performances. Our school offered a music enrichment afterschool program. The afterschool music enrichment program gave the students the opportunity to learn about vocal performance. Dance and theater are integrated in assembly programs and other content areas

In this unprecedented school year, P.S. 160 William T. Sampson was successful in keeping the arts alive! All students received art or music virtually. As the year evolved, in-school students were able to receive in-person instruction in these disciplines. In-person students in grades 3, 4 and 5 also enjoyed a dance residency this spring! We are looking forward to resuming our arts programs and residencies next year. In the past, that included full-time teachers in visual arts, music and drama, and part-time teachers in violin, cello and dance. We are also looking forward to resuming arts residencies in music and dance. Our fifth-grade students typically learn ballroom dancing, and compete with other schools in the district and city. Our school offers several rich after school programs that provide instruction and enrichment in the arts. They include, Art Club, Chinese Dance Club, Chorus and Orchestra. Our goal is to provide quality arts education to all students in our school. We have many daytime, evening, and Saturday workshops, festivals and assemblies to expose and engage our students and their families in all art forms.

The Bay Academy is a gifted and talent-based school. Students must choose two talents to audition for the school. Once admitted under that talent area you remain in that talent for 3 years. All talent areas this year met six times per week with a culminated virtual performance project at the end of the year. Students set goals and engage in peer assessment to become on-going creative learners, aligning their thinking to the Blueprints for The Arts. Teachers incorporate literacy in all areas to ensure continuity throughout the discipline areas. Students have been continuing producing their work through Google Classroom and Zoom experiences.

At PS/IS 163, fostering our students’ creativity and talent is a major part of our educational mission and is a major component of our students' education. Our rich arts program includes classes in visual arts, dance, music, and theater.

Our visual arts program provides students in grades K-8 a well-rounded visual arts experience that covers both art history and hands-on art projects. Our dance program exposes students to various types of dance, classical and contemporary, and presents them with the opportunity to express themselves through movement. In addition to regularly scheduled music classes, our school has a chorus, a guitar club, and an orchestra. The students who are members of these groups, as well as many others, perform in our winter concert and our spring arts festival. Our theater program educates students on classical theater, as well as modern. Students work on projects, plays, review writing, and technical theater.

At PS/IS 163, the arts are an integral part of student learning, as they help students to make cross-curricular connections and give them a sense of pride and accomplishment by recognizing their creative talents and potential.

The arts program at P.S. 164 Caesar Rodney is aligned with the NYC Blueprints for the Arts. The music program serves grades Pre-K through 5 with a combination of general music, vocal, recorder, and instrument instruction. The afterschool program serves a group of band students three to four times a week, depending on whether they are in the beginning or advanced district band. All band members are provided with instrument lessons at least once a week during the school day and all advanced band members attend practice each day during their recess. The band performs at school events, concerts, and graduation, as well as outside events like the Prudential Center, Barclay's, Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival and the District 20 Arts Fair. The visual arts program serves students in Pre-K through 5th grade. Classroom teachers also integrate art instruction into their classroom curriculum. Typically, we partner with several cultural organizations like Wingspan, Marquis Studios, and Ballet Tech to offer additional arts residencies to students. This year we only worked with Marquis Studios. We have two afterschool programs that bring in the arts, too. Both programs partner together to offer a drama program, as well as one program that partners with Marquis Studios.

P.S. 170 The Ralph A. Fabrizio School has a diversified group of American students and a large immigrant population from Asian, Middle Eastern and South American countries. The arts offer equity and bridge the cultural, religious, gender and racial diversity of our 877 student population. Our arts department has three certified teachers for visual arts, vocal and music programs. Our arts program provides a variety of visual arts residencies, dance, music theater, student workshops, trips and art competitions to our K-5 students. During the pandemic, our teachers have provided many virtual art experiences for our students. We look forward to the 2021-2022 school year, where we will once again provide in-person the following art programs: violin, Music and the Brain keyboard, recorders, chorus, band, visual arts classes and an English-as-a-new-language theater arts program whose students write, produce and perform an original school play. Band and Chorus students perform at our annual winter and spring concerts. At our annual Cultural Festival, students perform dances, music and songs from American, Arabic, Chinese and Latino cultures. Visual Arts, band and chorus students participate in local city-wide contests such as: Fall Window Painting, Poster, Sustainability Art Calendar, District 20 Visual Arts Showcase, Brooklyn Arts Festival, Music Memory Competition and the Respect for All Contest. We are committed to fostering a lifelong love and appreciation for the arts in our students.

Q42 1 Rev
During this challenging year, P.S. 179 Kensington has continued to provide arts programming for students, including visual arts instruction, along with virtual and in-person art programs through NIA Community Service Network and 21st Century Grant. Our school looks forward to school year 2021-2022, as we resume full arts programming.
Q43 1
The pandemic left PS179 Kensington unable to offer omplete arts programming as in past years. Visual Art instruction was limited to those students who attended school in-person. We were unable to provide music instruction.
PS 179 was closed on short notice several times this school year. Art instruction was asynchronous during those occasions. In addition, program schedules were often changed to meet school needs.
Beginning in February, NIA and 21st Century grant have hosted virtual and in-person arts programs.
