PS 9 Naples Street Elementary school was excited to be able to provide arts instruction to the in-person students this school year. Students had the opportunity to participate in musical theater and dance in a socially distant and safe way. Students learned about the principles of movement, danced across the dance genres and choreographed their own dances for recorded performances. In musical theater, students performed shows on Flipgrid and learned about rhythm, tempo and harmonies to get ready for their end of year performances. This year we celebrated student talents with a virtual talent show which highlighted students' talents through many different art forms.

The arts soar at Public School 13! Adhering to the NYS Art Standards in Visual Arts, our students participate in grade appropriate activities such as: chalk drawings, working with pastels, and sketching with charcoal. Student work is displayed throughout the lobby for all to enjoy. Funding from grants, the DOE, and our City Council Member afforded us opportunities to offer four enrichment programs: (1)The Environmental Art Project, facilitated by Universal Temple of the Arts, guided students through the process of transforming recyclables into art; (2) in a partnership with the Alice Austen House, two ten-week after school Cultural Adventures (CASA) in Photography were offered to interested third and fourth grade students; (3) family dance workshops were provided by a DOE grant; (4) a brass and theatre residency through a grant received by Calliope Brass and offered to our students. Arts education was provided by our staff both in-person and remotely. The enrichment programs were facilitated by the organizations through remote learning.

During the 2020-2021 school year, Public School 16 was able to keep a love of the arts at the forefront and implemented arts instruction to meet the arts standards, These wonderful opportunities were offered to both blended and remote students. Students are participating in Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Theater. Grades K-2 have participated in a twelve week, one hour per week, Theater program provided by IlluminArt. Grades Pre-K and K have music and art instruction embedded throughout their curriculum from their classroom teachers. Our Violence and Prevention grant allowed us to proudly partner with Arts Connection. Arts Connection has provided residencies in Drums, Stop Motion/ Technology and Hip-Hop dance. We also partnered with Sundog Theater through our CASA grant. This grant allowed us to provide Arts instruction to all fully remote classes. Our students participated in dance, music, yoga and theater. Despite the road blocks COVID 19 inflicted upon us, Arts Instruction was still alive and thriving at PS 16. We are looking forward to partnering with Arts Connection and Sundog in the years to come.

We have one full time Music teacher this year. In addition to the one teacher, we have a residency with a cultural organization, Universal Temple of the Arts, to integrate the arts into the curriculum. Public School 18 teachers align their lessons with the Blueprint for the Arts. Teachers are also responsible for participating in school-wide and grade assemblies. School-wide assemblies covered themes such as Hispanic Heritage, Holidays around the World, and Black History. Grade assemblies vary according to the curriculum in each grade. The arts are an integral part of Public School 18 curriculum.

Despite the challenges presented to us as a result of the COVID pandemic PS 19 continues to look for innovative ways to engage our students in the ARTS. Through our community partners, we have used the virtual space to extend learning opportunities in the arts to students in all grades both in person and remote. Next year as we all return to building, we expect to increase our Arts offerings through the addition of a permanent Art teacher to our staff.

PS 20 strives to provide an enriching Arts education for all of our students. We were limited during the 2020-2021 school year due to Covid and were not able to fully implement an Arts program aligned to this vision. Our plan for the 2021-2022 school year is to resume our normal residency with our in-house arts teachers, visual arts, theater and dance. We will resume our partnership with Disney Musical in Schools and will also initiate a partnership with Arts Connection.

During the 20-21 school year P.S.21's arts program includes visual arts classes for all students Pre-K 3 - 5th grade. Students were introduced to collage, painting and drawing this year. Since time, space and supplies were limited for some remote students, projects were created in person and virtually to embrace creativity, technology and generate an understanding and appreciation for art. Student's work will be displayed through a virtual gallery as well as an Instagram page. A part-time music teacher also implemented a music program for our early childhood classes. Music class incorporated technology, movement, interactive songs, singing warm-ups, and introduction to instruments from the orchestra. Through grant funds awarded by Staten Island Arts-Art Brings Change Grant, a local graphic designer collaborates with our art teacher to teach about art as a career. The fifth-grade art students design and create t-shirts to celebrate PBIS and our very unique school year thus far. Tee shirts were printed for children and adults to enjoy. Our students also had the pleasure to work with Creative Connections through grant funds. Once a week students in grades two through fifth were introduced to Readers Theater. We also partner with Education through Music, which provides music instruction to all students in our school community. We will have one culminating music.
Q43 1
P.S.21's provided all students with visual arts and music both in-person and/or remote during the 2020 - 2021 school year. All classrooms were utilized for our in-person learners to ensure the classes were socially distanced. Google Classroom, Padlet, and Instagram were the platforms used to share our work for the students working remotely and in person. Since teaching art and music is a hands-on experience, distance learners were encouraged to use what they have on hand at home while incorporating technology into our everyday lessons to make every lesson enjoyable for each student.

During the 2020 - 2021 academic year, the Arts Program at Public School 22 plans to expand our schools arts program (post COVID restrictions). Our program includes Music and Visual Arts. The goals of the Arts Program include multiple opportunities to experience a variety of musical, visual arts, dance, and theater presentations as expressions of voice, culture and points of view. Students also share and learn about their own culture and personal histories through the arts with our Culture Day Celebration. Exposure to the arts provide students with expanded awareness of multiple interpretations of events and develop an appreciation of other cultures. Our Chorus program expanded to ensure all grades participate in music assemblies-there was the formation of a Junior Chorus on Grades 3 and 4 which feeds into our fifth grade Chorus; our junior students experience learning two and three part harmony, working within a cooperative group, building relationships, analyzing songs for musical elements as well as meaning. Students have had past performances such as singing at the Oscars and singing at the Inauguration of President Obama. Our young artists have created a gallery presentation that adorns the school hallways and have created poems to accompany their work. The goal of these programs is to give students a well-rounded arts education which enhances or further develops their academic and personal growth. Additionally, each grade has a music assembly one time a week.

Due to Covid-19 guidelines, Public School 23 has not been able to offer our Band or music instruction to second through fifth grade students. In addition, we have also paused our visual art instruction this year. We have been able to continue our partnership with Richmondtown Historical Society through a CASA Grant. This grant provides students on all grade levels the opportunity to participate in a remote arts-based program with a historical twist.

As a result of covid we did not do any in-person events.
Q42 1 Rev
At Intermediate School 24 the Arts Program includes: Visual Arts, Performing Arts, Instrument Music (Band), Music Appreciation, Graphic Arts, and Media, taught on all grade levels. This past year teachers took a different approach as in-person events did not take place. Students did have the opportunity to share their abilities by pre-recording what they learned. During a normal year, students do enjoy a hands-on experience with culminating activities that offer the opportunity to exhibit the skills they have acquired as they reach each benchmark of the New York City Department of Education Blueprint For Teaching And Learning In the Arts. When visiting our school you will find that, we have been successful in reaching our past goals in transforming public space (halls, cafeteria, school yard walls, classroom doors) into lasting pieces of student artwork. Both the interior and exterior walls become student canvases, as individual art work is permanently fixed on the walls throughout the campus. As part of our goal to maintain our arts education programs, we implemented individualized programming. With a wider selection of art programs to choose from, students have more possibilities of being placed in an arts education program that best fits their interests. We developed an eighth grade Music Appreciation class where students can have an interactive class experience while studying various genres of music. September 2021 we will re-connect with various cultural organizations.

All of our teachers integrate the arts into all curriculum areas and all grades are involved with inquiry-based instruction. Arts instruction is an integral part of the curriculum for all grade levels. Students in Grades K , 1 and 2 participated in Visual Arts programs. Students in Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 are taught weekly dance, music, theater and visual arts by their classroom teachers who introduce them to various types of dance and movement. Third, fourth and fifth grade also participated in dance and music. Fourth and fifth grade participated in dance and performed for each other's grade level peers. In addition, we were fortunate to be chosen by the Staten Island Foundation to participate in the Alvin Ailey Dance Program which provided dance instruction for Grades 4 & 5. Students received 10 weeks of instruction. The Staten Island Children's Museum provided 5 weeks of instruction in Visual Arts to our kindergarten, first and second grade students. A CASA grant enabled us to offer after school enrichment classes in Theater, Voice and Dance to students in Grades K-3, provided by Sundog Theater.

Intermediate School 27 is committed to providing its students with a multi-faceted arts experience. We do this through the study of Instrumental Music, Vocal Music, Theatre and Visual Arts. We engage in a multi-disciplinary approach, infusing the Common Core Learning Standards in all our arts lessons. We require all of our arts students to participate in writing assignments that align themselves with NYS Standards. Throughout the school year, students are involved in various arts activities that include Composition, Music History, Musical Theatre, Choreography (creation, analysis, and performance).
Q43 1
Unfortunately, this school year was very different because of the pandemic. Our Arts program was nonexistant this year. There were too many restriction to have a proper Arts program, and all of our Arts teachers were assigned other subjects. The minimal amount of Arts given to our students was through the Sports and Arts after school program. This program only reached a small amount of children. Hopefully next year we will be able to go bak to our normal Arts program, and reach as many students as possible.

Due to the pandemic, we were not able to have any arts programming at our school this year. Both the Visual Arts teacher and the Music teacher were programmed to teach regular academic classes. Our music teacher retired in January. Beginning in April, our principal was able to hire a new Music teacher, who has been providing virtual Music instruction to all virtual and in-person classes. Visual Arts instruction has been provided by the classroom teachers. Next year, we plan on reinstating our full-time Visual Arts and Music teachers. We will follow all safety recommendations to have an appropriate music and art show at the end of the next school year. We will also participate in any contests, grants, or residency programs that we are able to.

Students at Public School 31 were encouraged to explore the arts through classroom instruction as well as virtually attending concerts, dance and theater performances and visits to online cultural institutions. We anticipate that we will be able to resume our partnerships with community organizations, and bring that expertise of practicing artists and performers back to our school during the upcoming year. Scheduled time for the arts was conducted by teachers using online resources to provide exposure to the arts for our students and as a tool to check in on their social and emotional well being. Moving forward, our goal is to resume providing Standards based arts instruction to all students while nourishing their talents and creating a lifelong appreciation for the arts.

Our Arts Program is a carefully developed curriculum that promotes, intellectual and emotional growth, self-efficacy while enhancing student’s own individual artistry. We offer many disciplines including; Theater, Dance, Music, and Fine Arts, and our curriculum is driven by research, analysis, the critique of students' own work as they use peer-to peer and self-assessment. Our Fine Arts Department artwork can be found displayed throughout the hallway throughout the school year as well as a Visual Arts Show. Students study different art techniques, including painting and sculpture. Our Dance and Theatre Department studies a wide variety of disciplines and techniques such as Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Improvisation, and Tableau, with a strong emphasis in Musical Theater as well as Stage Design. Our school takes great pride in the annual school musical, A Broadway-style production in which students in all grades perform onstage together.

At PS 35, our goal is to afford our students with opportunities tp activate their imaginations. through the implementation of observation, tactile learning and self expression create hands-on art projects which stimulate thoughtful inquiry and careful perception. It is our priority at PS 35 to instill a love and appreciation of the arts in every student.
Q43 1
The answers provided in this year's survey are greatly impacted by the restrictions of the past year. It is with great hope that next year's survey will be reflective of the well rounded arts program that is provided to the students of PS 35.

Public School 36 has an extraordinary, comprehensive Arts Program. Our four licensed arts specialists share their knowledge and passion through small group and individualized lessons. Our Band/Music Director conducts two bands in addition to teaching the general music curriculum. The theater arts teacher directs two theater companies as well as teaching the theater curriculum: physical/vocal expression, playwriting, pantomime, scene work and improvisation techniques. He produces two showcases and two full-scale musicals per year. Our dance teacher works in a fully equipped Dance Studio and teaches different forms of dance as well as choreographic elements and the study of human anatomy. The visual arts teacher works in a variety of media, stressing problem solving. We have an Arts Academy for Grades four and five that allows students to specialize in an art form/talent.

P.S. 50 continues to emphasize the arts as a priority for our students. We maintain 2 full-time arts certified arts instructors (chorus, visual arts) who deliver instruction in their content area for all students K-5. We also maintain a part-time band instructor who services groups of students in grades 3-5.

Due to the restrictions from Covid-19 during the 2020-21 school year, we were unable to invite students and families to any live performances, concerts, or art exhibits. However, we did have a "Virtual Talent Showcase" featuring student performances that was shared with our school community remotely.

Our certified visual arts teacher provides visual arts for all of our students and is an artist by nature who also acts as a District Arts Professional Development facilitator. Our school has transformed into a museum-like gallery ,exhibiting a plethora of visual arts and multimedia projects throughout our corridors and adorning our walls, all produced by students. Some examples of the variety of art work include but are not limited to: clay, collage, paper mache, stitchery, watercolor, sculpture, puppetry, print, and documentary photography. All of our visual art teacher's work, as well as our art resident's, is aligned to the Blueprint for the Arts and is aligned to our curriculum across all content areas. Although we only have one visual arts teacher, we ensure that our students are provided with every opportunity to explore other art forms such as Photography, Technology, Dance, and Theater through experiences with on-site and off-site cultural organizations. We further immerse our students in real world experiences by aligning a variety of field trips and afterschool arts enrichment programs.

PS 39 is a school that embraces the rights of all students to participate in an arts education. We believe it is imperative that students participate in the arts for cultural exposure, enrichment, enjoyment and increased achievement. Students are guided by their arts teachers to put on visual displays, concerts and drama productions. These rich experiences help us cultivate an appreciation for the arts as well as a child friendly environment where students feel a sense of belonging.

At Public School 41 we provide our students with quality arts instruction. Our Art Program for Pre-K through fifth grade will continue to be taught by our certified visual arts teacher. The teacher will instruct our children in all art media, organize our two annual Art Expos and art gallery/displays (virtually this year), and coordinate participation in notable art contests such as PSArt, Doodle 4 Google, and the Borough Arts Festival. Our Music Program will continue to be taught by our certified music teacher and includes the following instruction: recorder, violin, general music history, music composition and theory. Additionally, the teacher will oversee third grade Strings, fourth grade band and fifth grade band. Our classroom teachers also work with students to incorporate the arts into their general education projects while the visual arts units are usually cross-curricular and align with Social Studies, Science or Reading and Writing units by grade. Our students will hopefully continue to have the opportunity to explore Dance and Theater in both their regular school day and afterschool programs (COVID permitting) with resumed partnerships such as: Kinderdance, Sundog Theatre, and PAL, as well as our ongoing Visual Arts/Theater residency with the Staten Island Children's Museum servicing our English Language Learners (ELL) and Students with Disabilities (SWD) populations in the arts that was cut short in 2020 due to school closures.

As we continue our focus of increasing the arts within our instructional program, our school leadership, parent teacher association and the faculty have been engaged in grant writing to help support and sustain the arts. We have retained a grant to support electric piano instruction for our students. We have also been able to obtain technology and audio equipment for our students to utilize. The Public School 42 leadership, parent association, and faculty are committed to sustaining the arts as well as utilizing the community resources that are available to ensure that the arts continue to grow and our program is enhanced.

Public School 44's Art Program includes Visual Arts through a partnership with Sundog, and Dance through a partnership with Alvin Ailey. Due to the pandemic, all classroom teachers ensure visual arts that are an embedded component in their literacy programs and most classrooms, in-person and remote participate in multiple performances involving Dance, Music and Visual Arts; we also have a thriving Chorus for students in Grades three through five. In the future, Public School 44 will continue to develop a passion for creative learning in each and every child, allowing students to reach their fullest potential. We will continue to cultivate school-wide initiatives around arts education.

The arts curriculum at Public School 45 is aligned with the NYC DOE Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and the NYS Arts Standards. In addition, rigorous arts instruction supports Common Core Standards. The students have the opportunity to participate in virtual school performances and virtual school exhibitions. They also have the opportunity to work with students from mentoring schools in the community, as well as teaching artists and cultural organizations, in order to create products and performances, collaboratively. The arts are integrated in other subject areas, such as: Literacy, Science, Mathematics and Social Studies.

The students at Public School 46 have a love of the arts and are eager to participate in all arts programs that are offered. Unfortunately our visual arts teacher retired last year and due to budgetary constraints we were unable to replace her. Throughout the school year our classroom teachers have been doing Visual Arts, Dance, Music, and Theater instruction which usually culminates in grade level theater productions and a whole school Dance Festival. This year due to the pandemic we were unable to do our culminating activities. Once again during this school year we were fortunate to enhance our program with Alvin Ailey Dance instruction and Staten Island Museum afterschool Visual Arts program.

At CSIHS the Arts are a means of expression and engagement for students’ higher order critical thinking. The Arts are incorporated across disciplines. We expand upon our school's int'l mission through instruction the Arts. We offer classes in Visual Art & Digital Photography, Instrumental Music via Percussion Ensemble, Drum Circle, Modern Band Class as well as Vocal Music through our Glee Club. Students in our Music Program are exposed to professionals to enhance students’ musical experience. Occasionally, Artists in Residence are brought into lessons. Through our 10th grade Poetry Project, students wrote and dramatically performed their compositions on the stage in our Poetry Slam. Other outlets for artistic expression include our talent show production, which incorporates music, dance, drama and vocal performances. Through our Senior Capstone Project, students utilize the Arts to spread global competence and take community action to address a societal/international dilemmas. CSIHS has two major concerts annually, Glee Club concerts, and hosts smaller events, including our Arts Reception celebrating students’ artistic talents with mini performances and an art expose.

In a non-pandemic year, Public School 58's Arts Program strives to achieve fidelity to the NYS-mandated Blueprint for the Arts. We always aim to provide learning opportunities across all grade levels to all children in theater, music, visual arts and dance. We believe that learning through the arts is a valuable and necessary part of students'education. Our goal, as we move to a more "normal" school experience for our children, is to continue to provide these opportunities through one full-time visual arts teacher as well a full-time music/theater teacher who serve the entire school community. For the 2020-2021 school year, we were able to provide enriching remote Arts opportunities. In conjunction with community based organizations, we provided Music & Dance residencies, that were originally projected to be provided in-person to all 2nd-5th grade classes, however, the pandemic caused the inability to do this and caused this to be executed remotely to students. Normally, culminating performances throughout the school year celebrate student achievement in the Arts within the school community. In spite of the countless impediments, we celebrated the arts with a filmed performance showcasing the students' achievements Dance through our annual Happy Feet Dance Festival. Additionally, our building displays students' visual artwork done throughout the year to showcase our commitment to the Arts. We are looking to a more "normal" and fruitful celebration of the Arts in 2021-2022!
Q43 1
During this pandemic year, we were able to partner with Marquis Studios to provide remote music & dance opportunities to engage students. Our goal with this was to give students the opportunity to "move & groove" with physical activity to promote healthy habits.

The arts are celebrated and valued at Public School 52, where we are committed to providing quality instruction in all arts disciplines. We recognize the importance of family involvement and have provided our families with grade specific remote chorus performances, remote band concert and a remote ballroom dance finale. We offer arts opportunities throughout the day with a full-time music teacher and a part-time visual arts teacher. We offer additional arts opportunities in our afterschool programs as well, which is sponsored by NIA Community Services Network. Our teachers connect the arts to their curriculum in order to make learning more meaningful. Our administration supports the students, teachers, and arts residencies in enriching and extending student learning through the arts.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our arts teachers served as classroom teachers for the benefit of our students during the 2020-2021 school year. As DOE decisions, along with local government guidelines, continue to be updated daily, we are hoping to have our Arts instruction reinstated for the 2021-2022 school year. As always, we are committed to the arts, and providing our students with quality instruction in the arts as much as possible.

P.S. 54 is a 3K - 5 school dedicated to providing school-wide Arts Programs which enable our students to express themselves through music, visual arts and theater. Due to COVID-19 restrictions this year, we were unable to have any music or art classes or extracurricular activities in any of these areas. We did received grant money from our local politicians to provide some of our students with the Arts through Community Based Organizations. Prior to COVID-19, The Visual Arts Program follows the NYC DOE Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in Visual Arts. Our 3K and Kindergarten receive Music and Movement; which includes movement activities, small percussion and singing. Grades one through three receive either Recorder class, Vocal class, or Keyboard class depending on scheduling and location. Using Literacy curriculum as their source, students participate in group, partner and individual activities which include dramatic play, storytelling, puppetry, music, and dance. All activities are embedded in the English Language Arts (ELA) Next Generation Learning Standards for the appropriate grade levels. Our goal for the next school year is to return the ARTS program to our building.

Our goal is to provide every student with access to the arts at PS55. Some of our students are working remotely and some are in person, so it was important for us to design a program that allows students to learn according to their schedule. Each day, the music teacher allocates time for live instruction and students can choose to participate in the lesson. He also works with small groups that use specific instruments. The music teacher also posts lessons so students can learn at a time during the day that is more convenient for them. The visual arts teacher organized her art program in the same way. One period per day is designated for our students to log into either the music or visual arts lesson, and this is built into every classroom schedule. This year is so different, because of the pandemic, our dedicated arts instructors are also teaching non-arts classes. We had to think of creative ways to give all of our children opportunities to engage in this important learning.

At P.S.56, we are proud to provide an inclusive environment, where special needs students are able to showcase their talents and build upon their unique artistic abilities. Accommodations have been made to meet individual needs, highlight strengths, and work around limitations, including the Covid-19 pandemic. All in-person students from Kindergarten through Fifth Grade received Theatre Arts education as a cluster period this year anywhere from once to twice a week. Remote Learners were able to access their Theatre Arts curriculum via Google Classroom. New theatre lessons and assignments were posted every week. Feedback to Remote Learners was provided by our Theatre Arts teacher. The Theatre Arts curriculum at P.S.56 is based on both the Theatre Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts as well as the Dance Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Among the topics covered this year were pantomime, improvisation, tableau, jobs in the theatre, music and mood, directing, and playwriting. Due to Covid -19 constraints, we were unable to have any in-person performances for the school community as well as for families. However, students were given the opportunity to perform informally within the classroom several times throughout the school year.

Public School 60 students receive high quality arts education. We have licensed visual arts, music and dance instructors who bring their expertise and knowledge to the students. Throughout the pandemic, in person or remote students received well rounded arts education. Curriculum was revised to meet social distancing and CDC guidelines but it did not deter the arts educators. Our Arts Educators believe the arts allow our students to creatively communicate and express themselves while having new experiences and learn problem solving. With all the challenges in society, it is necessary for students to be able to express themselves through the arts. Units of study align with the NYC Blueprint for the Arts and NYS Standards. Educators have incorporated social justice standards and provide culturally responsive curriculum in the Arts. Our structured dance program enables students to have fun while understanding the techniques that go into putting on a performance. Cultural dances are explored to allow for diversity. The Music Program gives students the opportunity to become proficient in voice, gain knowledge of music history and understand types of music. Visual arts students learn various skills and strategies for art making along with art history and cultural art. Students share work and partner talk and utilize a sketchbook. Art is displayed throughout the halls. PS 60's students are well rounded in the arts and have pride because of these experiences. The Arts are thriving.

William A. Morris Intermediate School 61, a designated Magnet School of the Arts in New York City, is a thriving middle school with a teaching and administrative staff committed to nurturing and encouraging the artistic potential of all of our students in Grades six through eight. We continue as a School of Arts and Letters through Museum Studies as designated by our previous Federal Magnet Grant through the NYC Department of Education. We are proud of our reputation as a school which both infuses and enriches arts education for our students during their time at our school. We continue to develop young musicians, singers, actors, dancers, and visual artists, while cultivating a lifelong love of the arts in all of the young men and women who attend our school. Our school continues to teach and encourage immersion in the many different arts disciplines as indicated by the NYC Department of Education Blueprint for the Arts. All of our students benefit from the many different tenets for success in the arts and those in the three-year immersion disciplines for the arts: Band, Orchestra, Choir, Drama, Dance, and Visual Arts, receive an unparalleled experience at the middle school level.

Students in grades Pre-K through Grade 5 received Visual Arts, Dance, Zumba and Theater instruction each week by a cluster teacher. The curriculum is aligned to the Common Core standards as well as the NYC Blueprint for the Arts. During this time students were made aware of the Standards, were given opportunities to self-assess, peer assess and create goals so that they can take ownership of their learning process. Students also received visual arts, dance, Zumba and theatre instruction in the classrooms. Inside Broadway, taught Music, Dance and Theater to all grade 3-5 students. Families were invited to watch classroom instruction and remote showcases in theater. This year our Pre-K classes participated in the NYC Pre-K Explore: Visual arts, Dance, Theater, and Music were incorporated into ongoing instruction to promote student learning in multiple common core domains. Through Professional Development we learned new ways to design classroom learning centers so that arts activities are integrated. Additionally, we have partnered with our after school organization, New York Center for Interpersonal Development (NYCID) to extend the arts into after-school clubs, where they are offered: Creative Writing, Theater, and Visual Art. All clubs were determined based upon parent surveys. Students participated in the Borough Arts Festival. We plan to continue to offer Theater, Art, and Dance in the 2021-22 school year and provide opportunities for family involvement in the arts.

At Marsh Avenue Expeditionary Learning School, the arts are integrated in every aspect of the students' lives. As well as using the arts to strengthen English Language Arts (ELA), we also incorporate them into our expeditions and presentations of learning. Students take great pride in their performances and have made a name for themselves throughout our school community. Music performance classes are offered to those students who are interested in band, chorus or musical theater. All students are enrolled in music appreciation classes, where we further and foster that connection between ELA and the arts.

PS 65 infuses arts into the curriculum daily. Teachers have received professional development in how to successfully embed arts' instruction into their current curriculum, therein providing an entry point for all learners while reinforcing skills, concepts, and strategies being taught. For example, while students are working on countries around the world, and are reading and writing about these different places, they also learn about the Music, Dance, Theatre, and Visual Art which are all embedded into their Units of Study. Likewise, our Units of Study incorporate all elements/art strands, as students' final pieces may encompass any/all of the art strands in the form of: visual representation, theatrical representation, dance and/or musical representation to demonstrate understanding of the concepts embedded in the Unit. PS 65 also partners with many arts' residencies that provide Professional Development to our staff and direct instruction to our students. We will continue to engage with these arts' partners next year.

This year, through our partnership with Sundog Theater, Puppetry and Arta Connection our students benefitted from theater arts and the theater artist was able to continue servicing our students virtually through June. We were also able to have an Art teacher this year who worked full time with all students/grades in our school. Our students also enjoyed several shows (virtually) that brought our families and school community together for evenings of fun.

P.S. 69 focuses on fostering and developing a Culturally Responsive Curriculum through the Arts. This will enhance students' capacity to integrate skills, attitudes, and behaviors to deal effectively with daily tasks, a variety of cultures and challenges. In addition this will be implemented through the analysis of varied artists of different cultures/ethnicity, as well as integrating literature that embraces multicultural aspects.

Our Arts Program is dedicated to the Visual Arts, Dance, Music and Theater. Each program is a three-year sequence and is a comprehensive application of each specific discipline. Our Performing Arts Program offers Band (two units), Chorus, Drama, Dance, Video and Stage Production. The collaborative effort allows our students to reach their potential in each area and provides them with multiple venues in order to perform their talents. Holiday shows, concerts, musicals and extra-curricular functions allow our students to showcase their talent. Many of our students audition for schools (such as LaGuardia High School) and have achieved high levels of success in their secondary and collegiate careers. The Visual Arts includes Digital Arts and Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Arts and Print Production. Fine Arts allows our students to express their talents using media such as watercolors, pastels, oils and charcoal to generate beautiful pieces of art that adorn our building. The Digital Arts program affords our students with the opportunity to utilize current software applications to generate a wide variety of projects of student interpretations of design. Graphic Design and Print allows our students to work on the design and application of logos and other media displays. Our program is supported by an extremely talented and gifted staff who lend their expertise to our developing artists. The talents of our students are showcased each year in our annual Night of the Arts.

The units of study we implemented this year aligns with the Common Core Learning Standards as well as the Blueprint for the Arts. Our past and present residencies with the New York Philharmonic, Sun Dog Theatre, Alice Austin House, Marquis Studios, New York City Arts Cypher, Music IQ, and Babaloo, have opened the doors to the resources that are an integral part of the development of young artist. Even during a pandemic, we have continued numerous community partners that include, NY Philharmonic, Sun Dog And Alvin Ailey Dance Company. Each month during pur PTA meetings, we highlight the students that exhibit leadership qualities. In our community school, we collaborate to create activities that ensure family participation. Our objective is to listen closely to the needs and concerns of the school community so as to enhance the ownership of the work we do here at Public School 78. Our partnerships and programming in the arts ensures that every student and family experience all that New York City has to offer.

Port Richmond High School is committed to providing a comprehensive arts education. Our highly qualified arts teachers constantly assess student work throughout the year. We offer many classes for students to begin or continue their studies in the arts. The performing arts classes offered at Port Richmond High School are Beginning Band, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Big Band, Marching Band, Chorus, Beginning Guitar, Guitar Ensemble, Beginning Strings, Advanced String Orchestra, Introduction to Theatre, Advanced Theatre, Beginning Visual Art and Advanced Visual Art. We also offer a 3 year sequential TV/Media sequence culminating in the production of our weekly TV show Good Morning Port Richmond. Our Marching Band can be seen in parades throughout New York City as well as up and down the eastern seaboard. We have a SING production in the fall and a musical each winter and spring. The students in our Music Department attend music festivals outside the school each year and perform at various school and community functions. Partnerships include Exploring the Arts (Tony Bennett & Susan Benedetto), Roundabout Theatre Company, Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and ABC Grants awarded through Staten Island Council on the Arts. We moved to remote and blended learning fairly easily utilizing web based resources such as Soundtrap, MusicFirst, Smartmusic, Nearpod, Sling Studio, and many more.
