Concord High School will be offering multiple Arts courses in the upcoming year. Graphic Design/Art program for those interested in receiving hands-on technical and creative skills that are interactive and project based. These projects will consist of learning web programming skills and design as well as using industry standard programs such as Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator.

Concord HS will also be developing a Literature in the Dramatic Arts course designed to expose students to famous literature works that have been told through the lens of books, movies and theatre. Students will analyze the texts of books, plays, and films. Students will experience a class trip to a Broadway theatre production.

In addition, Concord students can learn about the other aspects of the Arts through art history. This course will focus on artwork such as paintings, architecture, and sculpture. Students will gain an understanding of various artistic styles. Students will attend (virtually/in-person) museums and famous architecture pieces around the world to gain a better understanding of the artist's work.
Q43 1
Concord High School is a small transfer high school that offers students the opportunity to earn a HS diploma through a personalized student schedule. Many of our students are overage (Ages 16 - 21) and under-credited in comparison to the traditional hs student.

Many of our students also want to be better prepared for the workforce. One pathway to developing our students for the 21st Century is by offering Graphic Art/Design as an option, allows interested students to develop hands-on technical and creative skills that are interactive and project based.

It was our goal to maintain our sequence for Theater, Music, and Digital Arts through this remote year. Along with Sundog Theatre, NAFME, and the US Marine Corps Band, our students were able to attend workshops both in person and virtually, as well as perform virtually for a myriad of audiences. A grant for a teaching visual artist was accepted for a full year, 32 weeks and was integral in keeping the spirits of our students, from novice to gifted at an all time high. Many students stayed in the virtual program the full year; the number of student visual artists participating in classes for drawing and sketching in this extracurricular workshop showcases the hidden talent in our school. We continue to utilize our TV Studio through hands-on experience when filming student productions, and for editing our remote events such as our upcoming Graduation and Senior Awards Ceremonies. We hope to be able to return with students to the opera, the ballet and Broadway to enhance their relationships with the arts in the future; we unfortunately had to cancel all excursions and our in-house dance teacher in residence, due to COVID. As a specialized high school with an active STEAM program, we continue to utilize our MakerSpace, creating multitudinous arts projects, as well as subsidizing our mural projects, adorning the halls of our school building for the third year now.

By June of 2021, 100% of our students will receive and engage in a comprehensive Art, Music, Dance or Dramatic Performance education, and will demonstrate NYS Next Generation Learning Standards as measured by the NYC Blueprint for the Arts. This includes Visual Art and/or Performance Arts. K-8 schedules in rotation blocks allows students to receive this education. Students will incorporate learning into stage and school performances which will be available remotely for parents/community. Intermediate students will be programmed with Art, Band, Chorus or Drama, depending upon interest/talent. Due to the pandemic our in person work with outside cultural organizations was restricted. We will resume our partnership with CASA next year subject to funding. Even though we have no residency this year, our teachers have been trained through past residencies to teach dance to our students and continue to provide quality arts classes for students. As a culmination, all students will display their talents through various performances and art exhibits remotely, which will be documented and assessed and be available to the community remotely.

PS/ IS 45K provides students with the opportunity to learn to act on stage, sing in a chorus and engage in hands-on arts projects. Funds are set aside to enable all students to participate in cultural activities, such as virtual field trips to the theater, virtual visits to art galleries and engage with virtual artistic consultants. In the past we have purchased keyboards and percussion instruments to enhance the musical capabilities of our students during the school day. However, due to the pandemic, we have instead shifted to virtual opportunities via singing and arts woven into the class time in elementary classrooms. Teachers of the arts continue to be provided with professional development training throughout the school year, which enhances their knowledge and our arts programs. This year, Music and the Brain, has been suspended due to the need for staff in blended and remote learning. The Early Childhood keyboard program, will be re-established next year focusing on learning literature through song and play. Our goal for the school year is to differentiate the arts learning for students of all grades. Our middle school student prepare for high school, by creating a body of artwork that spans their sixth through eighth grade years. This provides our students with an opportunity to build art portfolios with a visual arts focus. We want to have more parents participate in cultural activities and engage in a variety of musical and artistic experiences with our families.

This term was very difficult for our school community. We were able to bring the Empire LEAP After school Program back. The students of grades four and five who returned to in-school session were able to participate in this program. Students received visual arts. We hope for a continued partnership with Empire so that we can build a strong arts program at PS 75K.

We currently have two certified arts teachers on staff, one in music and one in dance. Students receive arts instruction in both disciplines. There are a select group of students who participate in an additional after-school Musical Theater Program. Students are highly engaged and involved in the arts programs. This year PS86K - The Irvington School had many in-school residencies; Dance with Movement Research, Dance Parade, Isadora Duncan Company, Ballroom BAsix, City Center, MCGD as well as Visual Arts with Studio in a School, Museum of Arts and Design, NY Historical Society and the MET. In addition we had an after-school program with Inside Broadway. Students attend multiple visual arts field trips. Our school is committed to exposing our students, parents, and community to different art forms and experiences.

At BSMART we have 2 Art classes for our high school students. We have Visual Art, and Advanced Art classes. In Visual Art class students learn the elements and principles of art, and explore these principles through various 2D art projects. Students learn to master the use of color, realistic art, and advertising art. In Advanced Art class, students are introduced to new mediums of art in both 2D and 3D. Students participate in an art show that showcases students' paintings to be sold in a silent auction. This art show, Canvases for a Cause donates all proceeds to our charity of choice. This year we donated to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

At Public School 106, we currently offer Dance and Visual Arts in Grades Pre-Kindergarten through fifth. Each student at our school is given the opportunity to enroll in our Arts Program; our goal is to instill in our students a deep appreciation of the arts. In addition, our students are offered the opportunity to participate in after school activities. Through after school programs and art organizations, the students receive a rich array of disciplines which include: Music, Dance, Performing Arts, Mural Painting, and Multi-media Production. Our curriculum is based on NYS Standards and the Blueprint benchmarks. Our students work is showcased with dance performances; their art work is displayed throughout the school. In addition, our art work is displayed at our annual Art Expo that takes place in art galleries throughout Brooklyn. Our Arts Program is supported by parental and community based involvement. We continue to look forward to enriching our community through the arts.

n 2020-2021 Public School 116K continues to reap the benefits of two licensed teachers; one in music and one in art. This year we also had an auxiliary teacher that is licensed in the area of Theater and she supported some of our classes with Reader's Theater. We had many virtual performances that were Science and Arts related and Festivals that incorporated Computer Science for All. As we are committed to the arts, we funded a Saturday Arts/ESL class where students in Grades 1-5 participated in one hour of Music and Visual Arts.

As a magnet STEAM school, the arts are an important part of our daily programs. All classroom teachers weave arts learning into their daily lessons.
Our Music and Visual Arts teachers create engaging lessons in alignment with the NYC DOE Blueprints for The Arts. As Arts teachers, they are involved in numerous professional learning activities that enhance teacher pedagogy in their field.

Public School 145 has a collaborative residency with Studio in a School that has been on-going for the last six years. The artist in residence provides visual arts instruction to the majority of the students in the school throughout the year. Students have shown growth in their artistic techniques in a variety of media such as; sculpture, collage, painting and animation. Students' culminating projects show their in-depth thinking and understanding of artistic creativity. We typically have a music program through Little Kids Rock and a Disney Theater Grant. These 2 programs did not occur this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic, but we will be expanding both next year.
Q43 1
Teachers of our arts programs were used in other capacities this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

This is our sixth year with the school instrumental music program: for Kindergarten through second grade, the students have learned keyboard using the Music and the Brain program, and the students in Grades three through five learned recorder and music composition using various music technology programs such as Chrome Music Lab. This year, visual arts students experimented with different painting techniques. This year our fourth grade dual language and ICT students participated in the LEAP residency dance program. Our afterschool programs are in collaboration with Bronx Arts Ensemble, ASPIRA and LeAp, and our select students are participating in Theater, Creative Arts, Sculpture, Hip-Hop, and Violin. Our students participate in our afterschool Music, Dance and Arts program perform in our afterschool culminating event. Due to COVID-19, our annual June festival were not held. During remote learning, Music and Visual Arts teachers provided live Google Meet instruction. Teachers and students used digital platforms like flipgrid, Artsonia, google slides, PowerPoint, etc. to design, upload, display their art and music.

The 2020-2021 school year was a challenging time in the PS 274 Arts Program. Despite all of the limitations imposed by the COVID pandemic, PS 274 was still able to offer some quality arts instruction to our students. Our Visual Arts teacher Ms. Savello met remotely with each cohort throughout the year and engaged them in a variety of arts projects. Mr. Clifford delivered in person Music instruction to different Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grade classes, incorporating bucket drumming, ukuleles and keyboards into the curriculum. In addition, Ms. Savello offered an afterschool Arts program to 2nd grade students while Mr. Clifford offered an afterschool music program to 4th graders in the spring. PS 274 was also able to partner with BAM and EASE to offer different cohorts a unique arts experience.

While this year was a difficult one, PS 274 is looking forward to coming back with a full fledged arts program in the 2021-2022 school year.

IS 291 is becoming an Arts and Leadership Academy. Students in Grades 6-8 receive Visual Arts and Music instruction as required by New York State Learning Standards. Students are introduced to the elements and principles of art through units in Painting, Drawing, and 2-D Design in-person and virtually. Music students studied elements and principles virtually through the application of theory, history, and music creations from January-June of 2021. Instruction was adapted as NYCDOE transitioned to Remote Learning throughout the school year. Therefore, the arts teachers provided flexibility for students to have access to the arts curriculum and continued integration with Social Studies the rest of the 2020-2021 school year. The Art and Music Teachers continue to develop an integrated curriculum using Social Studies and the elements of Music and Art that is interdisciplinary, user friendly and standards based. We implemented Music and Visual Arts by using Google docs/forms, Soundtrap (music), and Kleki (visual arts) for assignments. Students were able to express themselves remotely through assignments that included analyzing works of art, designing visual artwork at home, taking virtual field trip, and concerts, sharing work, listening and responding to selected modern and historical music pieces, and creating their own musical compositions influenced by history. Lastly, IS 291 completed their first musical theater production (virtually) & community broadcasted.
Q43 1
100% of our student population lives below poverty. Furthermore, a majority of our school community are first generation immigrants learning a new culture and language. The arts provide a universal language for those students and communities to breakdown barriers our underserved students are rarely provided. As a new Arts and Leadership Middle School, we are in need of funding, licensed NYCDOE teaching staff, and additional resources to provide services to our untapped students' across ALL grade levels in dance and musical theater/acting. In conclusion, it is our hope to garner funding, personnel, and additional resources of any performing arts school across NYCDOE; especially within our underserved minority community of Bushwick, Brooklyn.

The arts are still alive at Public School 299, even through the last 15 months of the COVID-19 Pandemic. Although we are without a dance, theater, music, or art teacher during the school day, all of our talented staff members work together to provide arts education for our students. This school year, P.S. 299 was able to collaborate with the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music. The Conservatory offered our students instrumental music with the Ukulele for students in grades 3 through 5 and Music and Movement in grades 3K through 2nd grade. We are hoping to extend these offerings for the next school year, building upon the foundation that was established this year. Along with this, every class participated in all our assembly programs this year. This included our blended learning and our fully remote classes. Our assembly programs included Hispanic Heritage, Thanksgiving, Holidays Around the World, African American History, Women's History, and Mother's Day to name a few. We are hoping to hire full-time teachers of the arts in the 2021-2022 school year.

Intermediate School 347 is fully committed to the arts. We have full-time visual arts and dance teachers that provide instruction to students in Grades 6, 7 and 8. We currently have a Humanities team which conducts interdisciplinary planning and execution of lessons for our eighth grade students through Visual Arts, Dance, English Language Arts, Social Studies and Foreign Language. We hope to build on the gains and performance made by this team to infuse both Math and Science as well. We currently have residencies and partnerships with prestigious organizations such as the Center for Arts Education. Our school hosts numerous arts exhibitions and shows throughout the year as well as provide off-site family trips to prestigious institutions such as the Lincoln Center. We also provide arts instruction for our families by offering numerous workshops. We hope to extend our residencies so that even more exposure to the arts is offered.

Visual Arts Assessments via Google Forms
Q42 1 Rev
As part of a robust and well-rounded curriculum, students receive the Arts as part of their schedule. Children acquire skills through Visual Arts and Dance to engage their creativity to make them better problem solvers and critical thinkers across subjects. Students create works in a variety of media and movement. Overall, Students are guided to connect their artwork (both Dance and Visual Arts) to the culture and fabric of their everyday lives. This is encouraged so students can access and use art in a way that is useful to them and relate to the world around them. That said, I.S. 349 has added social emotional and social justice components to arts instruction to help students become critical thinkers. As a result, students have created work that reflects current societal events in hopes to spur change.

Overall, our arts programming is based on the New York State requirements and standards for arts learning, and guided by New York City's Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts (https://www.weteachnyc.org/resources/resource/visual-arts-blueprint-for-teaching-and-learning-1/). The arts and core subjects such as ELA and Math are often integrated within the arts lessons and projects.
Q43 1
Our school is full of talented artists - visual arts and dance. We hope to connect more with cultural institutions and resources that can help better prepare our talented students for schools that specialize in the arts. Getting our students ready for the portfolio and audition performances for visual arts and dance is something we desire for next year. We hope to source support both academically, artistically, and financially to realize this goal.

We also hope to source more funding to have more in-house exhibitions of student work. Depsite the pandemic, we were able to hold five exhibitions of student work virtually. Four were in-house, an another was district wide - co-presented with two other schools.

During the 2020-2021 academic year, we continue to provide opportunities for students to showcase their unique talents and abilities while engaging in Media Arts, Dance, and Film (IMovie, Claymation, and Stop Motion Animation) Furthermore, our teachers facilitate in-house professional development for staff members to share their expertise in digital and visual arts. Our 21st-century learning environment utilizes project-based learning and instructional technology to provide rich artistic experiences for students. We continue our partnership with Brooklyn Arts Council and CASA afterschool program to provide our students with additional virtual opportunities in Music and Theater. Throughout the year we offer professional development and conduct observations to provide meaningful feedback to ensure our Arts instruction is aligned to the Next Generation Learning Standards and the Blueprint for the Arts. Our professional development in Instructional Technology fosters a trans-disciplinary approach to STEAM, to set the expectation that the arts should be integrated across all subject areas. This year, our visual arts teacher was able to provide remote learning to our K-5 students in visual arts to both blended and remote students. We also continued to showcase students' art products, by submitting them to the P.S. Art exhibition at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and by engaging students across grades K-5 in the design and selection of the PS 376 school mascot.

The Arts Program at Philippa Schuyler Middle School for the Gifted and Talented has been one of our prized jewels for many years! This versatile program offers students the opportunity to study a variety of disciplines. From Modern and Contemporary Jazz dance to Steel Pan and Theater, our students are immersed in learning activities that afford them the chance to express themselves and showcase their many talents in a multitude of ways. This year, given the constraints of COVID 19, we utilized the cohort model to introduce all of our students to a visual or performing art class. Here teachers got to work with a vast number of students to peek their interest in a variety of talents. Given the configurations of the cohorts, students on various performance levels were able to pair up with our beginner level students to assist them in developing their foundational skills in the talent. Through these student to student interactions, students learned valuable, life-long skills that are necessary to working in large and diverse groups. Additionally, they broadened the scope of our school community, allowing for teachers, students and parents to come together virtually and acknowledge the hard work and diligence found within our school's Arts programs.

The visual arts curriculum at the Brooklyn School for Social Justice is a full year, double credited course in 10th grade. The art program is divided into two terms: Fall/Into to Studio Art and Spring/Intro to Design. Art History is a mandatory component for both terms.
In Studio Art students learn basic art theory, art making techniques with an emphasis in drawing, painting and 2D art making.
In Intro to Design, students explore fashion design, industrial design, graphic design and architecture. Students develop experience working in teams to solve art challenges and learn the basic skills of public speaking through classroom presentation.
Art history is a full year course weaved into the arts curriculum. Students build on their knowledge of global history and learn introductions into Ancient, Classical, Modern and Contemporary Art. The course is presented digitally incorporating content both in film and written text. Students meet their reading and writing requirements in this component.
AP Studio Art Drawing is offered to our excelling artists in 11th and 12th grades with the emphasis on portfolio development and college readiness. AP art is offered as both a single or double year program.

As a small school, we are proud to be able to offer a robust, yet growing, music program. All students are introduced to playing musical instruments in the sixth grade. As interest emerges, student can then join a middle school band in seventh and eighth grade. Growing musicians can join our concert band in ninth and tenth grades, our symphonic band in eleventh and twelfth grade, and ensemble opportunities, including a jazz band, exist for our most dedicated musicians. During the 2020-2021, our program shifted into a music history and appreciation program to adjust to both safety protocols and the limited number of students engaging in in-person learning, but we are excited to transition back to in person music experiences during Fall 2021.

We also work in partnership with My Voice Theatre an organization under the umbrella of Riseboro, Inc., that is dedicated to developing the whole child by using educational theatre programs and staged productions to build self esteem, confidence, and a sense of community, while celebrating diversity in a supportive, non-competitive environment.

Our current art's program includes theater, and music. Our goals include offering opportunities for students to be exposed to as many art programs as possible. We also hope to support student in discovering the joy and creativity that lives within them already. We want to support those interested in attending an arts based high school by preparing them for auditions/interviews and the application process.

We provide our Students with Disabilities (SWD) with opportunities to experience the arts in many aspects of our curriculum. A few examples are: Black History Month, where each class created a visual art display reflective of a famous quote and various art forms (painting, collage, drawing and lettering) were utilized. Our school had a virtual talent show that celebrated various talents of our students in all classifications. Asian New year provided students with the opportunities to experiences the art, music and dance of Asian cultures. Our Physical Education staff provided opportunities to learn about Tai Chi and Qi Gong to enable students to better manage their own behaviors and develop a deeper self-management and internal practice while learning to appreciate this beautiful movement meditation of Asian culture. We've also increased student opportunities to visit other school performances. Our goal is to increase student opportunities to participate in all forms of the arts.

The P53K visual arts program develops our students’ talents and abilities at all levels. While students learn the fundamentals of art, explore the principles of design, and study art history, our P53K visual artists learn to express themselves creatively. The art curriculum fosters curiosity about materials and process while providing a strong foundation in visual art. Students are encouraged to develop their own artistic voice using a variety of materials such as oil pastels, paint, clay, and fibers, providing a creative outlet that is both joyful and challenging. Many studio lessons share the art of cultures from around the world. Many projects are art history based, which allows students to recognize important pieces, styles, and artists. At times, class projects are cross-curricular with other disciplines to help enforce important concepts. The art program helps students to establish a lifelong appreciation of the arts by exposing students to a variety of media, as well as cultural and historical styles of art. In addition, our P53K students cultivate an appreciation of the arts through classes that include drawing, painting, and mixed media; 2-D design including traditional black and white photography, digital photography, computer graphics; and 3-D design exploration of sculpture through the mediums of paper mache’ and clay. The P53K art program encourages students to create imaginative visual expressions, develop an artistic voice, and take creative risks.

P77K is a K-12 D75 school serving students with autism. We believe that the arts play a key role in learning and give students, both verbal and nonverbal communicators, a way to express themselves creatively. P77K has a strong visual arts program, in which students learn skills in drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital media and animation. Student artwork is highlighted in school art shows, an annual student film festival, and exhibited nationally and locally through the VSA Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., PSArts at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival at the Brooklyn Art Museum and Children’s Museum of Art, D75 Arts Festival, and the Ezra Jack Keats Bookmaking Competition at the Brooklyn Public Library. Our artists also expand their practice through participation in programs with MoMA and Benchmarks. In the performing arts we have a lively music program in which our students study a wide variety of musical genres and explore playing different instruments, as well as a theatre/dance program for our elementary levels. In order to expand our performing arts programing and expose our students of all levels to dance, we partner with cultural organizations including Marquis Studios and work with our Physical Education specialists to provide opportunities for students to express themselves through movement. Despite Covid-19, school closures and remote learning platforms students were exposed to various art forms such as visual arts, dance.

Public School 231K, a District 75 school, offers rigorous arts education with a full range of creative arts for our student body. Student engagement in Music, Dance, Drama, and Visual Arts is designed to promote creative thinking, problem solving, and social competence while addressing student IEP goals and personal growth. Instructional plans are aligned with the New York State Learning Standards in the Arts and the Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts, with special attention to cross-curricular connections, and the school-wide Comprehensive Educational plan. Arts lessons build on prior knowledge and are designed to demonstrate growth over time. Each arts teacher provides hands-on experiential learning in large and small groups with a range of differentiated supports to facilitate student success across varied populations of student ages, needs, and abilities. The Arts Program includes multi-sensory experiences linked to cultural, historical, and social contexts guided by teachers and artists in residence. Arts exploration provides our students with opportunities to increase personal and community awareness, creative expression and development of peer-to-peer interaction. Throughout the year parents are invited to engage with students during various special events designed to enrich student life and nurture a lifelong enjoyment of the arts. Events may include student performances, student art exhibitions and visits to a variety of cultural institutions.

The 2020-21 school year has been very difficult due to COVID-19. Our annual performances, Winterfest, Black History, Hispanic Heritage were cancelled due to the pandemic. However through it all P368K was able to offer visual arts to students in K-8. The Arts Program spans across grades and supports all students in both alternate and standardized assessments. During this pandemic our art teachers produced virtual art shows that displayed the works of both in person and remote students. Our students creativity was not stifled due to the situation instead it blossomed with wonderful pieces of student created art that were entered in the Positive Exposure Fill NYC with Love Initiative, two of our students wrote poetry and participated in the D75 Speech and Poetry slam.
Their poems will be published by City College,

Our school Art Program is focused primarily on the Visual Arts, although we are in the process of building a strong Music program. Our student population is primarily students with emotional disturbances and students with Autism. The benefits of the arts for both disability classifications is well established and aligns with our philosophy of educating the whole child.

Arts education is infused throughout the curriculum in all grades. The techniques students utilize and the knowledge they acquire are gained through various multi-media projects in Visual Arts and Music classes. This knowledge has helped them grow in English Language Arts, Math, Science and Social Studies.

Our school services a range of students with diverse special needs. Arts education allows the students to learn and explore through a different means and by infusing arts into the everyday curriculum. By infusing a variety of arts into our curriculum, we see students excel and shine. Students are extremely motivated to participate in our Arts Programs and remain engaged for extended periods of time. We currently have a Fine Arts, Music and Dance program. This year, due to the Covid19 pandemic, the students have participated in virtual arts assemblies with their peers and families present. All classroom teachers use arts education as part of their everyday instruction. This year we have continued to infused the arts into remote and blended learning by exposing the families to the arts through live instruction and facilitating art projects that they can do with their students. The arts have continued to play a huge role during the pandemic for our entire school community.

The goal of our arts programming is to support the development of the whole child by engaging children in discovery and expression through the arts an in collaboration with classroom teachers. Based on National, State and City Standards, and aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards, our Arts Programs develop young artists, future audience members, and lifelong learners. Although our goal remains the same, due to the pandemic this past year had to be modified. We are really looking forward to getting right back on track and providing valuable and neccessary arts education to all of our students.
Q43 1
Our school is composed of two sights. One signt is for our inclusion program and the other is our ASD sight. Both locations are engaged in the arts and are supported by cultural organizations in a range of disciplines throughout the year.

Students at Public School 373K (The Brooklyn Transition Center) have the opportunity to participate in Visual Art, Theater, Music, Dance, and Film in a variety of settings in our school and local community. Our students regularly visit cultural organizations, museums and galleries, attend lectures and educational films, and participate in hands-on learning experiences. Our school has built a well-rounded Arts Program that continues to grow and has been largely documented by the students themselves and showcased on the new school website. Our school hosts several annual end of the year culminating arts celebrations which highlight work produced in visual arts, dance, drama, film and music classes. This year our school is using the remote learning platform to showcase student work by creating virtual galleries and performances. Our school's Arts Program continues to evolve yearly, as nearly all classroom teachers and service providers collaborate to incorporate different arts disciplines into their instruction to support our curricula and our young adults' creative endeavors.

P396K’s SOARing Arts Department is comprised of teachers in dance, music, theater and visual arts. These disciplines are taught through a Social Studies lens, providing cross curricular connections that allow students opportunities to showcase their talents in gallery and performance showcases. P396K follows a center-based instructional model for core academic subjects as well as the arts. The Arts is taught through a Social Studies lens and other content areas such as writing, math and reading are also infused within the art centers. Grants, cultural partners, community partnerships and in-house initiatives support the work of the SOARing Arts Department. Some of the highlights for the 2020-2021 school year includes receiving an extension of the Shubert Theater/Musical Theater International Broadway Junior Grant. Our 6th-8th grade students were immersed in preparing for a virtual Snapshot of Schoolhouse Rock! In addition, a selection of students (remote and in-person) rehearsed weekly on Zoom in preparation of participating in a recording for a virtual performance which streamed on-line for the school community and other District 75 schools.

Despite the challenges of the COVID19 pandemic, our school stayed committed to the arts. We offer arts instruction in dance, music, theater, and visual arts both traditional and digital programmed into the school day. We created hybrid performances streamed for our families and communities multiple times during the school year. We further supported Arts instruction by utilizing cultural providers to enhance student access to the Arts. Our Educators are always expanding their own knowledge and sharing that with others: Facilitating Professional Development to their peers via OASP as well as leading in-house professional development in art instruction to classroom teachers and paraprofessionals. We connect students and their families to the arts through extensive opportunities for Arts engagement outside of the school day via links to free digital programming and in-person programming provided by various NYC cultural organizations. Our Theater Teacher facilitated student involvement in the ALL IN(clusive) High School Teen Theater Program. Our students' artistry has been recognized at D75 Festival of the Arts, The Brooklyn Borough Arts Festival, and more. Our Arts teachers were asked to adapt curriculum from Roundabout Theatre and National Theatre (UK) for diverse learners. Our vision for the arts at our school is ever expanding as we continue to provide individualized, authentic arts experiences for our students so they can develop the skills to be as independent as possible.

The Brooklyn School for Career Development (BSCD) explores and embraces a various art forms and programs that have proven helpful to our student population. Our program is unique because it supports our students’ social and emotional learning and incorporates practical skill-building; a well-staffed and supportive team of professionals working collaboratively accomplishes this. Students are prepared on a social and emotional level, and can graduate from the school with practical job-related skills and experiences. We have utilized the arts to communicate and personal expression in working with our student population on the emotional and autism spectrum. Our goal is to stress the importance of academics, job skills, and competitive employment. We facilitate specific programs that are aligned with the Common Core Learning Standards, Next Generation Learning Standards, and the Blueprint for the Arts. In March 2020, BSCD transitioned to remote learning due to COVID-19. This provided additional opportunities to enhance and enrich the students learning experience as they were able to tour different museums globally and develop a deeper appreciation for the visual arts.

Public School 771K is a District 75 Special Education school across eight sites in South Brooklyn. The school as a whole participates in arts through literacy, and the art teachers work closely with classroom teachers to create a curriculum based on units of study. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were unable to continue partnership for this school year with outside agencies. We have worked with Positive Exposure and contributed to their art instillations. The goal of the art program is to provide the students with resources and hands-on experience that will help foster their love and understanding of the arts. This goal will hopefully lead the students to discover a lifelong enjoyment and appreciation of the arts. Through these experiences, Public School 771K hopes to provide an environment that will help the students develop in ways that will improve their educational, social and emotional goals, as well as to enhance their skill set. We have also received donated art supplies from Donor's Choose and Staples.

The Connie Lekas School provides a rich arts programming for all of our students. We believe that the arts help our students learn, grow and connect with others. When faced with the challenges of the pandemic, we have all continued to expand our skills and create. We currently partner with Marquis Studios, The Morgan Book Library & Museum and New Victory Theater to provide residencies with teaching artists and professional development for our teachers. This past year, our students won prestigious awards in the Morgan Book Project. We look forward to gathering in person again and resuming our school chorale, art club, Family Arts Day celebrations and many additional arts activities.

Public School 35M is an elementary through high school with students from kindergarten through grade twelve. Our school is dedicated to academic excellence. We offer students multifaceted arts experiences in an environment organized to provide opportunities and supports appropriate to student abilities. Teachers implement the NYCDOE Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and The NYS Standards for Learning in the Arts by aligning arts instruction with the Common Core Learning Standards. Assessment is made on individual achievement related to each student’s stage of growth and development. An arts integration model engages students in various arts activities linked to literacy in the arts, making arts connections to other academic areas, utilizing community cultural resources, acquiring knowledge of arts careers and encouraging students to regard arts as a means of expression and a source of lifelong enjoyment. The art program enables each student to develop positive attitudes toward self, others and the environment through creative experiences. Problem solving and creative learning encourage the student to relate visual knowledge to other core subjects and to respond with originality, appreciation, flexibility and imagination.

At P94M, we believe the Arts to be a vehicle for students to access and engage with the content areas. The school community has been invested in this vision and mission through a school-wide arts program involving all staff and children. The arts programs push learners to synthesize and generalize their classroom skills in a larger collaborative setting. Arts partnerships are vital to our school community. Partnerships that P94M is working with include the following: - Theater Careers Residency - ARTSConnection – This partnership supports a transition/vocation-centered residency exploring careers in theater and film. - Marquis Studios – This year we received a SWD/ELL renewal grant through the Department of Education, providing an opportunity for our students to participate in 10-week cycles of arts instruction through Marquis Studios. As a pARTnership school, we have had a decades long relationship with Marquis Studios, but receiving the grant allowed us to expand the residencies to include all P94M students. Through this grant, we have students participating in visual arts residencies, creative movement, music, and Circus Arts residencies. - Access Ambassador Program – Through the Lincoln Center Access Ambassador program, students with disabilities are introduced to working within a performing arts environment. Under the guidance of performance staff, students explore a variety of careers in performing arts while learning essential work readiness skills needed for success.

At Public School 226M, we strive to maintain programming in the arts that is sequential, expands the skill base and knowledge of our students, and aligns to the Next Generation Learning Standards. We expect students to increase their physical and intellectual proficiency in the arts as they engage in a variety of motivating, hands-on curricular experiences. Our goals in the arts include developing critical thinking skills through in-class creations, paired with writing about the experience and learning about the arts by viewing art in museums, galleries and the theater. Interaction with the arts develops students’ interest in art-making, theater, dance and music and promotes higher order thinking skills by making connections to other subject areas.

Our goal is to expose students to the arts and encourage life-long learning. Through Virtual visits from our arts partners, students are introduced to and develop an understanding of how the arts reflect diverse cultures of the past and present - through music, movement and visual arts. Our collaboration with the arts' organizations has led to an important kind of thinking which transfers to all areas for our students. These multisensory means of engagement despite the challenges of a Zoom Program. This was a very stressful year and the arts have positively contributed to supporting our SEL program. Thus, our students have exhibited increased respect for personal space, taking turns, listening and responding appropriately. Our visual arts units exemplify collaborative teamwork among students. The virtual offerings have made a strong impact on our students by increasing peer to peer respect, building vocabulary and confidence to express themselves in a safe environment. In addition, through music our students worked through impulse control, sequencing skills, following directions and socialization. The multisensory nature of the arts is vital to our students most of whom are in psychiatric crisis. We believe in the expressive, creative and therapeutic benefits of engaging through the arts. This year more than ever we needed this joy and healing that the arts brings.
Q43 1
Our students are hospitalized for medical, rehab or psychiatric reasons. Our student population is transient and changes on a daily basis. Therefore, it is important to mention that the numbers reflect a snapshot of students, but does not truly reflect the attendance for a full school year. In addition, we do not have students for a full day in many sites so we must integrate the arts into other content areas to address all standards in a short amount of time. We greatly value the arts and appreciate what the Arts Counts budget affords for our very special students. Although, capturing growth and data is a challenge for a transient group of students, we see first- hand the power and magic of the arts
