Our school's art program consists of orchestra and dance. The orchestra program is a four-year program that teaches students how to play the violin, viola, bass, and cello. Towards the end of each academic year, students perform in a school concert, where performances are done by grade. Our dance program is also a four-year program that focuses on ballet, contemporary and modern dance. Students study and analyze different time periods of dance, as well as different cultures of dance, in order to understand the essence of dance and how storytelling is done through this artistic medium. We are part of the National Honor Society for Dance Arts. Furthermore, the dance program also has a literacy component where students write daily reflections and conduct research. In addition, we are currently working on creating a dance regents program for our students as well as infusing musical theater.

South Bronx International Middle School integrates arts education into many of the content areas. Our social studies curriculum incorporates an in-depth study of Egypt during which students work with our arts partner to create a museum exhibit of artifacts. We have an advisory program that meets daily and students meet with their teaching artist to explore the themes of their grade: love for myself in sixth grade; love for my community in seventh grade; and love for the world in eighth grade. Students also have the opportunity to engage in Capoeira Martial Arts as well as a lunchtime drum circle. Our students all have the opportunity to work with Learning through an Expanding Arts Program (LeAp) afterschool as part of their extended day programming. LeAp provides our students with dance, visual arts and theater arts. At South Bronx International Middle School, we leverage the arts to provide a more supportive environment to our students as well as to provide real world context for our units. We also engage families through the arts. This year we engaged in a Family Paint Night as well as a Cultural Fashion Show.

Students are exposed to the arts in a variety of ways at PS/MS 3. They regularly participate in developmentally appropriate arts instruction in areas, including dance, music, theater, and visual arts. We have a full-time visual arts teacher that teaches students in grades K-8. Our Pre-K through 5th grade students receive additional instruction and support in music through Education Through Music. Additionally, our 6th through 8th grade students receive instruction and support in the arts through SOBRO, our community based organization. We look forward to increasing student participation in the arts for the 2021-2022 school year by expanding our relationship with Education Through Music and SOBRO sharing resources with neighboring schools and exploring virtual experiences in the arts.

Our current arts program is focused on expanding access of visual arts and dance instruction to specific student populations, including English Language Learners (ELL), Students with Disabilities (SWD) and students from low income families. Additionally, Public School 8 focused on cultivating partnerships with community based organizations, including Alvin Ailey Dance Foundation, Flamenco Vivo Carlotta Santana and Studio in a School. Public School 8 met its goal for the 2020-2021 school year by including these partnerships in addition to having two full-time visual arts teachers to provide instruction. Our goal for the 2021-2022 school year is to expand on our relationships with community based organizations and focus on bringing music instruction into our school through partnerships with cultural organizations and or a full-time music teacher.

The art program at The Ryer Avenue Elementary School serves a diverse and multicultural community in the Bronx. Our art department promotes culturally responsive group and individual expression. In previous years, our students used our art program as a means to express themselves through the creative outlets of dance, music theater and visual arts. The department would come together with productions and exhibits to be viewed and enjoyed by our school community.
This year, the pandemic has caused us to have to utilize all of our art department to support the academic need of our students.
It is our hope, that as the school reopens and normalcy returns to our community, that the arts department will return in full swing. It will once again provide our diverse community with the richness of expression that is received through our art program.

Our arts program is focused on providing students with skills and knowledge of visual arts techniques and strategies to express themselves and share their understanding of the world around them. Students are provided opportunities to explore different art mediums and methods and how those intentional choices help the artist to make a statement. This year we welcomed our partners from RedBull Theater Shakespeare Company. Our students were able to engage in a study of Romeo and Juliet which included speaking with actors to learn about their craft.

Next year during the 20-21 school year, BAE’s Arts Education will provide the students with a dance program that engages the students to explore avenues to express themselves (Social-emotional Learning), while providing an enrichment program in dance (Culturally Responsive Sustaining Education). Students will also be challenged to creatively lead and collaborate through the art education program (21st Century Learning Standards), as well as have fun through an in-person and virtual learning if necessary.

During the 21-212 school year, we will continue to partner with ETM to provide a comprehensive, sequential and standardized arts curriculum that met local and state requirements. In addition, ETM provided a full curriculum, musical instruments and supplies, and a well-trained, highly competent and well-supervised music teacher who successfully engage our middle school population. ETM will also to continue to work with our school to provide service to our students for in-perspn and remote learning throughout the school year.

This school year we were extremely limited to our usual performances, field trip, and other arts-related activities. However, we managed to have a full-time dance teacher and visual arts teacher who worked with in-person students as well as, the remote only students. We also had a music teacher from Education Through Music who worked with students two days a week as well. We tried our best learning about technology and finding new ways to engage the students whether they were in-person or at home. We took some virtual field trips and lecture demonstrations through Zoom, Google Meets, and through recordings. Two students had their artwork accepted into the Annual Bronx Borough Arts Festival online show. We found and used many resources which we will continue to use as part of our curriculum. Next year, we look forward to live performances, arts shows, and concerts with all of our students.

We currently have an Arts Leadership Team comprised of students, teachers, and administrators. The Team works towards our Arts Mission Statement and goals set earlier in the year. They organize pro around the Arts. We highlight teacher strengths in the Arts, even if they are not certified as arts teachers. Teachers take these strengths and create programs during and after school, in addition to sharing environment consists of an Art gallery, "The Belmont Art Gallery', located in a hallway/bridge where all grades and programs are represented. Hallways, bulletin boards, and classrooms also come alive w partners, particularly DreamYard, who have assisted in deepening the work around the arts disciplines.

In spite of the pandemic, we were able to provide arts instruction this year virtually with our Arts partners. We were also able to celebrate and share our Black History Celebration virtually via a pre-recorded video.

For the current school year, we have a licensed visual arts teacher servicing students in various classes in grades six through eight, including our English as a New Language (ENL) and Students with Disabilities (SWD) populations. We received a CASA grant again this year and worked with Creative Art Works. Due to Covid-19, we were unable to hold the Creative Art Works classes in-person, but they were able to have virtual workshops for the students. Also, teaching artists from Lincoln Center worked with two of our eighth grade classes virtually which culminated in a performance of a Shakespeare play.

At the Bronx S.T.E.M & Arts Academy, the fine arts are a vital part of our comprehensive education plan for every student. We believe every student should have access to quality materials and instruction in all arts disciplines: music, theater, dance, and visual arts. Students learn skills in each area in accordance with the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and NYS Standards for Learning in the Arts. Students make connections between the arts, academic subjects and technology while expressing their creativity and critical thinking skills. They engage with many arts experiences throughout New York City, including live performances and art museum visits. Students also have the opportunity to show their growing artistic skills with performances and exhibitions for our school community during the school year.

Public School 54 provides visual arts, poetry, music and film to many of our students both in person and remotely. However, COVID restrictions have put limitations on our abilities to reach out to cultural organizations. The arts have been implemented through the school’s staff. We continue to celebrate our students’ accomplishments with visual arts exhibitions, film screenings and modes of expression to promote social change with our entire school community to promote the concept of a Violence Free World. Visiting museums have been done virtually through virtual field trips on Google Meet. Two of our students exhibited artwork in the 2020 Bronx Borough-Wide Annual Visual Arts Virtual Festival which will be virtual once again this year. One of our 3rd grade teachers provide music instruction in connection to the lessons taught. Connections are continuously made with the core subjects to support learning through the arts.
Q43 1
We as a school community are working hard in anticipation for the coming school year as we continue to prepare ourselves for the challenges that await us. We hope to use the arts as one of many tools to help our students navigate their way back into a school environment that many have been cut off from while working to address their social and emotional needs. Our school’s staff already makes use of the RULER Mood Meter and the Universal Design Language to reach out to our students to address those needs along with their academic needs while establishing a risk free, caring environment where every child feels valued and respected while being able to take ownership over their academic achievements.

During the 2020-2021 school year, there were no in-person arts programs at PS56 due to COVID-19 guidelines. We did, however, take advantage of a CASA grant which allowed up to 25 students each in grade 4 and grade 5 to participate virtually in weekly afterschool virtual dance classes and a culminating virtual performance by students for their families to watch. Also the students and their families were able to watch four virtual performances by Alvin Ailey dancers during school hours. Through our partnership with Metropolitan Opera, virtual courses were made available to our grades 3, 4 and 5 classes in various opera performances.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we were unable to take part in our usual arts education. Teachers were able to incorporate some art into classroom activities. Over 60% of our students were fully remote this year. We are looking forward to next year when students are learning in-person in the building, and we have more consistency with the timing, space constraints and materials to incorporate the arts in an interdisciplinary way at PS59.

At Public School 77 we are committed to nurturing the whole child by providing students with high quality education filled with life enriching experiences.I am a full-time music teacher, and I am dedicated to providing our students with a deep and strong understanding of music as a language and an art form. Additionally, we have a long-standing partnership with Music in the Brain, and I am able to provide music instruction to our students in our early childhood program (PK-2). Our arts offering this year is supplemented through a partnerships with Studio In A School. Since this school season was in three different group setting, as remote/blended/in-person, we were not able to have partnerships with other arts organizations such as NYC Ballet and Dream Yard which we usually do.

Tapping into the artistic talents of other staff members, we have been able to offer a visual arts club as a part of our after school programs. We are looking forward to getting back into fully in-person school next year, working with other arts organization again, and expanding our art program.

The goal of the P.S. 86 arts program (PreK-6) is based on a commitment to provide our students with the elements of art allowing them to "live the arts" through an arts-integrated curriculum. The arts are basic to the needs of mankind, aesthetically and socially; however, the uniqueness of the 2020-2021 school year continued to create a "new normal" placing contemporary technology in the forefront of educational objectives. By combining The RULER Approach with a Growth Mindset curriculum and an emphasis on the social emotional substructure needed to balance the technology of distance learning, our arts teachers and classroom teachers recognize and instill the tenets of STEM in correlation with arts and the humanities. P.S. 86 continues to collaborate with New York City's cultural institutions. Our school has worked with The Guggenheim's "Learning Through Art" program since 1997. The students' artwork has been exhibited in the Museum regularly for over 20 years. This year, their artwork will again become part of a virtual exhibition. "Dancing Classrooms". Two 4th grades will complete ten sessions with instructors teaching swing, tango and rhumba online. Our professional music instructors accelerated student work in composition with choral classes singing their own music and poetic lyrics for parents and the P.S.86 community.

Public School 91 has two certified music teachers who provide general music instruction. All students in grades kindergarten through fourth grade receive music instruction at least one period a week. We have a certified visual arts teacher who provides instruction for most students in grades kindergarten through five for at least one period per week. In addition, we have a part-time dance teacher who works with grades K-5. Additionally, we have residency artists from Materials for the Arts who work with classroom teachers and students on culminating projects teaching art through socials studies content to students in grades 3 and 4. Art residents from Studio in a School provided visual arts lessons to classes in grades 2-5. Afterschool programs met weekly and included visual arts (30). During remote learning, visual arts, dance and music instruction continued.

During the 2020-2021 school year, we at Public School 94 believe we are giving our students another way of learning and expressing themselves allowing them to explore new ideas and develop their imagination through arts education. We have seen the programs in the arts at Public School 94 provide our students with skills in cooperative decision-making and leadership. It has also helped in the social and emotional development of the child which can lead to an increase in academic achievement as well as overall school success. We have a variety of arts partners: Lehman College Art Gallery, Studio in a School, and Arts Horizons. In-house clubs supplement our arts program with residencies designed to expose our children to music, theater, dance, and the visual arts. It is our obligation as educators to support our students by every means possible. We will continue our arts partnerships and engage all our learners through the arts.

The Kings College School is a kindergarten through fifth-grade school located in the Norwood section of the Bronx. We serve a unique and multicultural community. The school is situated in the hub of the Montefiore Hospital complex, the Jerome Avenue marketplace, the historically noted Gun Hill Road, Varick House Museum, and the Woodlawn Cemetery. Families from many parts of the world serve to create a distinctively rich educational and cultural community. "We cultivate and inspire lifelong leadership."

The RKA Arts Department has worked hard to strike a balanced approach in our middle school arts curriculum. As students move from sixth grade to seventh, we encourage them to commit to a two-year sequence in either visual arts, band or chorus during grades seven and eight. As sixth graders, they experience two half-year arts classes so they can make a more informed choice about the longer commitment. We are blessed with truly gifted arts teachers who provide rich classroom instruction. These teachers also provide authentic performance experiences at our Winter Arts Festival and our Spring Arts Festival. In high school, there are opportunities for Advanced Ceramics in our AP Ceramics class in addition to high school core art classes. We also offer a guitar class, Painting through History, and ceramics electives. We are proud of the array of arts experiences available to our students in grades six through twelve.
Q43 1
During the Pandemic, many of our additional arts opportunities such as field trips and working with our CBO partners were curtailed. We look to the return of the these important components to our overall Arts program in the coming year.

Public School 159 created a full-time arts integration teacher. The role of the arts integration teacher is to incorporate the visual arts into all content areas. Through collaboration with classroom teachers, they develop art units that support core content areas. We have added a part-time school music teacher to provide our students access to music theory, instrument playing and music composition.

Public School 205 will continue to implement the Next Generation Learning Standards and the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts integrating them across the curriculum. Our interdisciplinary approach promotes student progress, improves instructional practices and leads to teacher sustainability in the arts. In addition to our kindergarten through fifth grade fine arts curriculum, we have an additional full-time cluster specialty arts teacher to service our students as well as a full-time music instructor.

Arts experiences and programs are provided at I.S. 206B that support the academic development of all students. Through these rich experiences which include music lessons, dancing, and visual arts, all students are molded into well-rounded children ready for 21st century college and careers.
Q43 1
We are a small school. We would like to hire an arts education teacher; however, it is challenging to do so given funding. We need to share a part-time teacher with another school. It would be helpful if some assistance in this manner were provided.

Our school has partenered with a number of arts organizations this year to impact and enhance student engagement, student voice, social learning, creative skills, and arts-related knowledge and skills. Among them are Studio in a School, Bash the Trash, VTS, Child's Play, DreamYard, Arch For Kids, Young People's Chorus and Digital Age Learning. Our students also participate in the Music and the Brain Program taught on-site by our full-time music teacher. Students use photography and slide shows to memorialize special events throughout the year. Arts education is also encouraged in all classrooms with teacher led activities related to academic content students are learning. Our school fully supports arts education as it promotes healthy risk taking, helps children recognize new skills in themselves and others and builds collaboration among both students and teachers.

The students at Public School 209 are exposed to various artists and media that are aligned with the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Our students have opportunities to participate in visual arts exhibits as well as take part in dance, music, and theater productions during our fall, winter, and spring performances and assemblies. They also have an opportunity to share their artwork and performances with their families during our quarterly culminating task celebrations. Our students receive instruction in visual arts, dance, theater and music from outside artists as well as their classroom teachers and school based staff. These arts residencies were initiated to provide students with additional opportunities to further their artistic capabilities. Our Project Arts Committee plans schoolwide and grade specific field trips to cultural institutions, including museums, botanical gardens and zoos throughout New York City to enable students to make meaningful connections.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and a modified school schedule, we offered our students dance, drumming, choir and band classes as an afterschool program through several arts and cultural organizations. For next year, our goal will be to move some of our arts and cultural instruction that is occurring afterschool to our in-school instructional hours so that all our students may benefit.

Public School 226X, The Nadia J. Pagan School, is a school where children come first! Our focus is building future leaders who encompass college and career readiness, a well-rounded education through the arts, and a strong foundation of 21st century skills. We are most proud of our arts programs where students are exposed to music, visual arts, and dance. We offer a variety of cultural programs to our students. In conjunction with our partnership organizations, we house our own enrichment programs such as student council and chess. Parents are supportive of our school initiatives that are in place, and our attendance rates exhibit the love that students have for coming to our school.

At The Marie Curie School for Medicine, Nursing and Health Professions, teachers endeavor to instill in the students an appreciation of the arts as well as increase their understanding of the arts in history and the real world through hands-on activities. As part of our program, the students learn about visual arts and music therapy and careers that might allow them to incorporate their love of the arts with their interest in health. Our English and social studies departments work with several cultural arts institutions to integrate theater and visual arts, photography, music, drama and dance into the curriculum. They provide professional development sessions, both on and off-site, to explain demonstrate and model techniques for incorporating the arts into our academic programs to increase cultural awareness and raise student achievement by providing engaging artistic activities into their planning. As the arts program continues to grow, we look for ways to implement new opportunities for students to learn through the arts. Most recently, our school has implemented the College Boards Pre-AP Visual Art curriculum, and we are planning to offer Advanced Placement Visual Arts in the near future.

Our school offers a sequential arts program for high school students. In grades six through eight, each student has the opportunity to take both visual arts and music classes. At the end of ninth grade, high school students select either a visual arts track or a music track. In grades ten through twelve, visual arts students take elective courses in creative crafts, 2D and 3D design and have the opportunity to take Advanced Placement Studio Art in their senior year. Tenth through twelfth grade music students take survey courses, including voice training, percussion, guitar, and keyboard. We have increased our arts programming through a variety of arts institutions throughout the city. Our high school students also have the opportunity to join the campus band and study one instrument throughout high school. Our vision is to continue to expand our arts program and provide students not only with traditional hands-on arts opportunities but with critical thinking skills in the arts that will prepare them for the global 21st century.

We strive to offer a wide array of artistic programming to our students. We believe that arts education is an integral part of the middle school experience because of the opportunities it provides to expand student engagement and encourage creativity in expression. Currently, we offer instruction in band, dance, piano, and visual arts. To offer this range of artistic options, we actively seek to bring in cultural organizations to supplement and expand our own in-school offerings. One of our greatest partnerships, the Park Avenue Armory, has afforded our students an extraordinary level of enrichment through its residency programs and student workshops. All our work around the arts culminates in large-scale school performances held three times a year. These performances bring together the various artistic disciplines in a celebration of the arts. In a poignant performance held each February in honor of Black History Month, our school community is able to see the fullest integration of the arts and core subjects, including English Language Arts and social studies. As a school community dedicated to increasing the exposure and learning our students gain from the arts, we look forward to future expansion and opportunities for our students to connect to and through the arts.

PS/MS 280 is a kindergarten through grade eight school with a total student population of 753. We have a full-time certified arts teacher for grades six through eight, a second full-time teacher to teach visual arts and music to our kindergarten through second grade students, and three part-time art teachers who teach grade three to five students. It is our goal for all students to be enriched in the arts as much as possible. Classroom teachers' support include all aspects of art, dance, theater, music and visual arts in their lessons by creating thematic units. Throughout the school year, we engaged the students in virtual workshops and performances to enhance this curriculum.

Our school relies on the talents and interests of our teachers for our arts provisions as well as work with Manhattan School of Music. This year Manhattan School of Music provided one-on-one vocal coaching for six students and is giving one additional student a free summer class of her choice. Additionally, we offer art history, music history, and the ever popular crocheting where we mailed home the crochet kits this year. That is a very popular class even remotely. We also hosted a string of movies as part of our community building.

This year Arts was limited due to the pandemic. Our hope and our plans are to once again infuse our school with various opportunities in the arts in order to expose and develop well rounded students.
We look forward to continuing our relationship with DreamYard and to offer our students a variety of activities in dance, music, theatre, photography as well as incorporate more digital platforms to showcase students' work in addition to the art exhibit displays we showcase in school.

Our visual arts teacher offers sequential art instruction to all students in kindergarten through grade five. Students are also given in-school art residencies in visual arts, creative dance, ballroom dancing and theater. We offer interdisciplinary connections to help build on the students’ learning inside the classroom. Our visual arts teacher develops integrated arts units based on the NYS Standards for Learning in the Arts and aligned with the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. Through creating, performing, responding and connecting, students develop their art skills and imagination. Students learn how others express themselves through music, dance and visual arts. Our students share ideas and emotions and learn how to turn those into images, sounds and actions. As our students create artistically through the arts, they become more imaginative and strengthen their problem-solving skills.

PS 307's goal remains to instill an appreciation for the arts throughout our school community and infuse the art disciplines into core subject areas. A CASA Grant was awarded by our councilman. With this grant, we collaborated with three different arts institutions to provide residencies for our students. Fourth and fifth grade students participated in Greek Mythology & Poetry Slam with teaching artists from Marquis Studios. Second and third grade students participated in theater arts with New Victory, and kindergarten and first grade students participated in Dance with LEAP. Due to the pandemic and remote learning, teachers found new venues of introducing the world of art to students' beyond the walls of their NYC homes. Through virtual trips, they visited cultural organizations such as Museo del Barrio and the Whitney Museum of American Art.

The Bronx Dance Academy provides a highly engaging art program, where students create works that correlate to our thematic units. Our focus is to provide our students with a platform where they can express their interpretations of proven artist structures, which are aligned to Career and College Readiness.

Students participate in a focused sequential arts program in Dance or in Visual Arts during their tenure at Bronx Dance Academy. Our arts teachers strive to engage all students in rich experiences aligned with the goals of the Blueprint for the Arts and NYS Arts Standards in creating, performing/ presenting, responding, and connecting.
Q43 1
In a typical school year, students at Bronx Dance Academy are given the opportunity to audition for and choose a major track in either Dance or in Visual Arts. Students schedules are programmed so that they will have their major class 5 periods a week.

Public School 310's goal is to provide an arts curriculum aligned with the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts and supports the Common Core Learning Standards. We believe arts instruction enhances academic performance. Our teachers are fully aware of the value of the integration of dance, music and visual arts in the content areas. Due to the pandemic, we were forced to initiate remote and blended learning in our school. Our classroom teachers diligently integrated arts lessons into the curriculum increasing the level of joy and creative expression for our students.

Students at the Lab School will demonstrate independence and develop content knowledge through creative expression in the arts. This will be measured by assessing growth in music composition and performance. Twice a week students in kindergarten through eighth grade will be offered music instruction by a full-time certified teacher. Lessons are aligned with the New York State Standards for Learning in the Arts and the NYCDOE Blueprints for Teaching and Learning in the Arts. We offer weekly, forty-five minute, small group instruction in music for selected students. Selected students in grades five through eight will have the opportunity to participate in the afterschool enrichment music program. Selected classes will receive instruction in various art forms from cultural arts organizations. At least four performance opportunities will be given by the end of the year: two Cultural Arts Presentations, Kindergarten Graduation and 8th Grade Graduation.

P.S. 386 has a great art program where students are taught to understand the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as a basis for composition. Students explore a variety of artists, art processes and materials such as drawing, painting, printmaking, two & three-dimensional design, and sculpture.

Students are introduced to art history and learn to appreciate different art forms through viewing original works of art and use of the Smartboard technology. Art projects are often designed to complement the classroom curriculum.

Here at P.S. 340 we value and support a well-rounded arts eduction that is interdisciplinary with a range of subjects. In particular, the arts curriculum has direct alignment throughout the year with Passport to Social Studies and Civics For All correlating art projects with a range of social studies and civics units. Students exercise both their oral and written language abilities through goal setting, critiques, artist statements and reflective writing pieces. A large push this year in the arts programing was aligning identity work done in the classroom with identity based art projects in the art classroom. In addition, students studied a range of historical and contemporary artists from different countries and cultures. Next year P.S.340 has the intention of adding a music teacher to the school base staff with the purchasing of instruments to expand arts exposure for our students.

ISLA's Studio Art program offers a foundation for advanced courses in art such as Pre- AP & AP courses that are offered in high school. This satisfies the Art graduation requirement.
Beginning in middle school there is an emphasis placed on understanding the Elements of Art and Principles of Design as a basis for learning about and building artistic skills. Students will explore a variety of artists, art processes and materials such as drawing, painting, printmaking, two & three-dimensional design. Student artwork will reflect aesthetics & cultural and historical contexts. Current topics and themes are introduced to build student interest/relatability as well as a tool to teach and reach across the curriculum.
Willingness to get involved in the creative process is a more important requirement than the student’s talent or previous experience.
