Archaeological Monitoring Report for the Old St. Patrick's Cathedral Cemetery Wall Restoration Project, Manhattan, New York
Report Abstract
Restoration of the brick wall surrounding the churchyard and cemetery of Old St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is bounded by Mulberry, Mott, and Prince Streets in Manhattan. Archaeological monitoring of construction identified 21 intact burials and 14 reburials, 5 of which were avoided, and the rest of which were documented, excavated, and reinterred. As per the church’s wishes, only basic skeletal analysis was conducted on the remains, the results of which are included in the report. Other artifacts and animal bones found were out of context and thus of little use archaeologically, but photographs of finds are included as an appendix.

Report Abstract
Project involving multiple blocks along Delancey and Essex Streets in the Lower East Side. During the 19th century, most of these lots were occupied by multi-family residences, housing working-class and immigrant populations typical of this neighborhood at the time. Many of the lots have potential for intact remains of privy or cistern features in the former backyards, and one lot could possibly have remains of burial vaults from a 19th century church, so further archaeological testing is recommended in these areas.

South Ferry Terminal Project, Volume I: Text and Figures
Report Abstract
Large scale construction of subway infrastructure for the South Ferry station required extensive archaeological testing and monitoring. The area within and around the project site includes the former site of Fort Amsterdam, designed in 1626, along with a defensive Battery Wall, Whitehall Slip, and numerous other structures, built at various times, that were major landmarks of colonial and post-colonial New Amsterdam/New York. The excavation and analysis of these features and their associated artifacts provided information about the structures’ chronology, use, and construction techniques. The report recommends that further analysis and research should be conducted on the origin of rocks found in the battery wall, comparative studies with similar collections, and DNA analysis of remains found, and in addition this project should be used to create a solid framework for similar future projects.

Final Report: Phase IB Archaeological Investigation for the Randall's Island Sports Field Development Project
Report Abstract
Project located on Randall's Island in the formerly separate Ward's Island area. Five areas were investigated: Hell's Gate, Central Fields, Sunken Garden, Wards Meadow, and East River. Research showed the previous presence of potter's fields, various hospitals and asylums for the insane. However, archaeological testing and GIS-based modelling showed that significant disturbances would make the presence of archaeological resources unlikely. Potential testing might be necessary in the East River and Wards Meadows Fields as no subsurface testing was done there at this time. No further archaeological investigation is necessary.

Phase IA Archaeological Documentary Study Worth Street Reconstruction, Centre Street to Mott Street, New York, New York
Report Abstract
Project located in lower Manhattan. Research and previous archaeological study has shown a long history of occupation for this area. Historic resources associated with grocers, inn keepers, taverns, brothels, bakeries, and residential properties could all be present in the project area. Due to deeply buried sewers and other disturbances, archaeological monitoring is recommended as the most efficient way to reach buried resources.

Archaeological Documentary Study for West Thames St. Pedestrian Bridge
Report Abstract
Documentary study of area for proposed West Thames Street Pedestrian Bridge in lower Manhattan, alongside the Hudson River. The project may impact resources such as old piers, cribbing, or bulkheads as well as the Hudson River Bulkhead, which meets eligibility criteria for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Archaeological testing was determined infeasible as the project only entails drilling in certain areas. Instead, educational signage about the development of lower Manhattan is recommended to be displayed on the bridge.
