These developments are located in the Long Island City neighborhood of Queens Community District 2. Rikers Island North and South Pump Stations Upgrade

Upgrade of two pump stations on Rikers Island. Rikers North: consists of improvements to the facility in order to bring the station up to current building codes and standards. The upgrades would include elevating equipment, replacing deteriorating equipment, and upgrades to electrical, mechanical, and heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The end result of the upgrade will be a pump station which serves the same purpose but with greater reliability and functionality while bringing the station up to new federally mandated standards. The Rikers Island North Pump Station is a sanitary waste facility located north of Executive Road on the northern shore of Rikers Island in the Bronx and within the Hunts Point Wastewater Treatment Plant drainage area. Rikers South: Demolition of existing undergrond pump station and reconstruction of new facility within existing foprint. Upgrades include: new fence, standby emergency generator, & electrical and mechanical equipment The Rikers Island South Pump Station was initially built and commissioned in 1968 and no major upgrades have taken place since. The Pump Station is located west of Hazen Street on the south shore of Rikers Island in the borough of the Bronx, within the existing Bowery Bay Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) drainage area. The proposed comprehensive upgrade will improve the facilitys numerous deficiencies and will involve demolition of the existing underground pump station and reconstruction of a new underground pump station within the existing footprint, in order to bring the station up to current building codes and standards. The upgrade includes a new fence, addition of a new standby emergency generator, and upgrades of electrical equipment and mechanical equipment.
