Reconstruction of Dock Fender System Reconstruction of Dock Fendor System Port Richmond WRRF

The purpose of this emergency contract project is to provide a safe docking structure to be used by marine vessels when delivering sludge to the Port Richmond Wastewater Resoucre Recovery Facillity (WRRF). Sludge boats bring 200,000 -300,000 cubic feet of sludge per week from other WRRFs to the Port Richmond WRRF. This sludge is then transferred to the Oakwood Beach WRRF via a force main. The piles and chocks on the fender system of the Port Richmond dock have deteriorated and are beyond repair. Without them, sludge vessels cannot safely dock at the pier. Therefore, the proposed site changes are: replacement in-kind of 12 diameter untreated greenheart piles (approx. 26), the installation of ½ stainless steel Bend Plate on top of new piles and the installation of new 10 H x14 D Rubber Loop Fender Welded to existing steel whaler (approx. 204 LF). Construction activities would be within the existing footprint of the pier and are anticipated to last approximately two months.
