Amboy Road and Huguenot Avenue Intersection Improvements

The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) as lead agency on behalf of the New York City Department of Design + Construction (DDC) is proposing street and utility improvements along Amboy Road and Huguenot Avenue in Staten Island, New York. The proposed capital project would extend approximately 554 linear feet along Amboy Road (from about the intersection with Huguenot Avenue on the west and Kingdom Avenue on the east) and approximately 324 linear feet along Huguenot Avenue (north from the intersection with Amboy Road). The proposed project would reduce traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety and circulation for all street users at this intersection including private motorists, transit users, pedestrians, and cyclists. Under the proposed project the north side of Amboy Road east of Huguenot Avenue would be widened to create new turning lanes. Additional proposed improvements would include new sidewalks and pedestrian ramps, signal timing changes and coordination, and bus stops. To implement the proposed improvements requires acquiring a portion of 1 lot (a portion of the front yard) with a total of 6,672 square feet of private land within the mapped right-of-way (ROW) of Amboy Road. The proposed project would require a tree restitution plan for a total of 18 street trees under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR) that would need to be cleared.

East Tremont Avenue Improvements - Williamsbridge Road to Bruckner Boulevard

DOT is proposing traffic calming and intersection safety improvements on East Tremont Avenue from Williamsbridge Road to Bruckner Boulevard in the Westchester Square and Schuylerville sections of Bronx Community Board 10. The action would improve traffic flow, clarify traffic patterns at complex intersections, reduce delays for motorists and pedestrians through traffic calming measures, provide safer crosswalks and enhance the streetscape. Specific improvements will include the alignment or relocation of existing crosswalks, installation of five new crosswalks and neckdowns at Fink Avenue, Ponton Avenue and Whittemore Avenue. In addition, the intersection of East Tremont Avenue/Fink Avenue/Williamsbridge Road will be reconfigured to include a new traffic signal and revised signal timing. In addition, the street direction on Hutchinson River Parkway East will be modified to a one-way southbound street between East Tremont and Westchester Avenues. The community board has approved this proposal. The Build year is 2015.

The Grand Concourse Bridge over East 174th Street

NYCDOT, as part of its efforts to extend the useful life of its bridges, is proposing necessary maintenance and rehabilitation work of the Grand Concourse Bridge located between Mount Eden Avenue and East 175th Street in the Tremont section of Bronx Community District 4. The existing bridge roadway geometry consists of two travel lanes plus median plus service road and turn lanes at intersections in both direction over the East 174th Street and carries sidewalk on either side of the bridge. The Grand Concourse Bridge consists of a reinforced concrete arch with waterproofing membrane, fill, concrete pavement slab and asphalt overlay on top of bridge. There are adjacent buildings on the south side of the bridge and NYCT subway station on the north side and having 14,900 square foot of deck area. The bridge carries utilities such as water, and sewer.
