Improvements to the Intersection of Victory Boulevard and Clove Road
Project Description
The New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) as lead agency on behalf of the New York City Department of Design + Construction (DDC) is proposing the Victory Boulevard and Clove Road Intersection Improvement Project. The proposed capital project would extend approximately 900 linear feet along Victory Boulevard (from just west of Grand Avenue on the east to Seneca Avenue on the west) and 225 along Clove Road ( from about 145 feet north of the centerline of the intersection with Victory Boulevard to 80 feet to the south of the intersection). The proposed project would reduce traffic congestion and enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety and circulation for all street users at this intersection including private motorists, transit users, pedestrians, and cyclists. Proposed improvements include widening the north and south sides of Victory Boulevard both east and west of Clove Road. The proposed improvements include a widened intersection with additional exclusive turning lanes and improved sidewalk and pedestrian conditions. To implement the proposed improvements requires acquiring portions of 12 lots (portions of the front and side yards) with a total of 17,278 square feet of private land within the mapped right-of-way. In addition, the proposed project would require a tree replacement plan for the clearing of about 16 street trees that are under the jurisdiction of the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation (DPR).

Ceqr
13DOT009K
Project Name
Closure of Franklin Avenue between Empire Boulevard and Washington Avenue
Project Description
The closure along with the redesign of Empire Boulevard at Washington Avenue and Washington Avenue at Franklin Avenue would allow for safer pedestrian crossings, fewer turning conflicts and enhanced safety for all street users. The street closure and modifications will enable the implementation of a protected crosswalk across Empire Boulevard at Franklin Avenue without any conflicts from turning traffic, provide an extended left-turn bay on westbound Empire Boulevard and eliminate the existing southbound right-turn prohibition at Franklin Avenue. In order to account for diverted traffic as a result of the closure, four parking spaces on the east side of Washington Avenue approaching Empire Boulevard would be removed to accommodate the added right-turning vehicles. In addition, a bulb out would be installed on the northeast corner of Empire Boulevard and Washington Avenue.
