DOT Resurfacing Program

DOT is proposing a roadway resurfacing at two Queens sites as part of the National Highway System Improvement Program. The program improvements include a total of 16.63 lane miles of resurfacing (i.e., milling and repaving), pavement improvements (i.e., pavement markings), and general repairs (i.e., regrade street hardware, cushion or repair problematic roadway base, etc.) to extend the service life of existing facilities. The improvements project is routine maintenance work that repairs worn, cracked and broken roadway surfaces to provide for a smoother and safer wearing surface for vehicular traffic. The limits of the program (attached) are 21st Street from 47th Avenue/Jackson Avenue to Broadway in the Hunters Point section of Community Boards 1 and 2 and Jamaica Avenue from 168th Street to Francis Lewis Boulevard in the Hollis and Holliswood sections of Community Board 12. The estimated time of completion is 2016.

The proposed law would require applicants (individuals or businesses) in the heating oil supply industry (such as dealers, deliverers, dispachers, operators and owners of heating oil delivery vehciles) to obtain non-transferrable licenses from BIC, and would make any business between registered and unregistered individuals and businesses illegal. In addition, the local law requires extensive reporting under BIC's oversight to avaid future fraudulent business practice in the heating oil supply industry.

Roma and Hett Avenue Area Street Reconstruction and Drainage Improvements

NYCDOT is proposing the Roma Avenue and Hett Avenue Area Street Reconstruction and Drainage Improvements project located in the New Dorp neighborhood of Staten Island. The proposed action would reconstruct approximately 3.8 miles of streets to current NYCDOT design standards with new curbs, sidewalks, and street lighting as well as the installation of new street drainage infrastructure coupled with upgraded sewer and water infrastructure. To implement the proposed project, the City must acquire portions of the front yards and driveways of privately-owned residential properties within the mapped City streets primarily along Hett Avenue. The proposed project would also require the clearing of about 164 trees with the pruning of an additional 30 trees. The NYC Department of Design & Construction in conjunction with the NYC Department of Parks & Recreation would therefore implement a tree replacement, transplanting, and protection plan as part of the project. The action is located in Staten Island Community Board 2 and is bounded by Milton Avenue to the north, New Dorp Lane to the east, Cedar Grove Avenue to the south and Navesink Place to the west. The Build year is 2019.
