Project Description

The two two-story, pproximately 21-foot and 25-foot (ft.) tall facilities currently encompass 11,045 sf of gross floor area (5,225 sf for 100-30 Atlantic Avenue and 5,820 sf for 100-32 Atlantic Avenue). However, all construction and renovations will be completed by the time the facility opens. According to the project sponsor, the DHS facility will have 13 dormitory-style residential units that will contain 53 Safe Haven beds that will house a maximum resident population of 53 single adults and will also contain drop-in space for up to 75 single adults. The drop-in space would include tables, chairs, lockers, bathrooms, showers. There would also be a medical suite, offices for drop-in center, safe haven, and outreach staff, multipurpose room space, interview rooms, conference rooms, maintenance rooms (including bed bug oven room), a dining hall and laundry rooms. Maximum staffing is approximately 17 persons during the daytime shift. The buildings are currently unoccupied. The Department of Finance classifies the building at 100-30 Atlantic Avenue as F4 (Factory/Industrial). The existing Building Identification Number (BIN) is 4196974. The Department of Finance also classifies the building at 100-32 Atlantic Avenue as K2 (Store Building). The existing Building Identification Number (BIN) is 4196975.
