The building is undergoing minor interior upgrades to create the proposed residential and community facility space, however, all renovations will be completed by the time the facility opens. According to the project sponsor, the DHS facility will have 41 residential units that will house a maximum resident population of 185 adults and children. There will be a staff of 39 employees across three shifts.

NYCDOT is proposing a street redesign to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety at the intersection of 34th Avenue and 114th Street in Queens Community Board 3. The action (see attached), which will reduce crossing distance for both cyclists and pedestrians as well as provide a simpler access to the Grand Central Parkway Multi-use path which also borders Hinton Park to the south and connects to the Multi-use path to Citi Field. Intersection improvements include extending the concrete island; creating a signalized access for cyclists and pedestrians traveling to the Multi-use path, installing two-way dedicated bicycle lanes directly to the center island on 34th Avenue, relocating existing signals to improve path crossing and installing high visibility crosswalks, stop signs, pedestrian/bicycle ramps as well as a right-turn lane on 34th Avenue. The number of moving lanes at all approaches will be maintained. The Build year is 2013.
