Project Description
The proposed project is the new construction of a residential building containing 215 units, 214 of which will be considered affordable housing (all except 1 unit for the building superintendent) in the Longwood neighborhood of the Bronx, Community District 2. The proposed dwelling units will be rented to a mix of individuals; of the proposed 133 studio units, 92 will be available to individuals with a diagnosis of Serious Mental Illness (SMI) and 41 will be for individuals with income up to 57% of Area Median Income (AMI). Of the proposed 17 one-bedroom units, 3 will be available to formerly homeless individuals or couples and 14 will be for individuals or couples with income up to 57% of AMI. Of the 65 two-bedroom units, 25 will be available to formerly homeless families and 39 will be for families with income up to 57% of AMI. Eight (8) of the units (3, one-bedroom and 5 two-bedroom) will be designated for recipients of Section 8 housing vouchers from the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development HUD). The proposed project consists of a new, 10-story, residential building containing approximately 215 dwelling units on the ground floor and upper 9 floors; storage, fitness, laundry and support uses within the cellar level; and residential units and support uses on the first floor. Outdoor recreation elements will be located in the rear yard consisting of wood deck and walkways, planted buffer with trees and understory vegetation, a recessed amphitheater with seating, patio, and childrens natural play areas, with net area of approximately 9,400 SF.
