Rockaway Wastewater Resource Recovery Facility Sludge Dock Improvement project will replace and rehabilitate the deteriorated and aging sludge dock and other anciallary infrastructure and equipment needed to operate the treatment plant as per the Bureau of Wastewater Treatemt strandards and design principles for optimal efficiency and outcome. The WRRF plant was built in 1972 and has the capacity to treat 45 million gallons per day of sewage from a drainage area of 6259 acres serving a population of approximately 91000 New Yorkers. This project is being designed and implemented under a design build delivery approach for greater cost and schedule security and time efficiency. Notice to Proceed date for the design and construction is January 2025 and the construction duration is expected to last 36 months. The project is expected to complete is 2028.
