The Guild for Exceptional Children Main Building Renovation Project
Project Description
The New York City Economic Development Corporation on behalf of the City of New York is facilitating the allocation of City Capital funding to the Guild for Exceptional Children, Inc. (GEC) a 501c3 nonprofit to renovate the building and upgrade equipment. GEC provides person-centered and individually tailored programs, support and services for all New Yorkers living with developmental disabilities. The building has not been renovated or upgraded since 1974, creating safety hazards for those with ambulatory difficulties, and limiting programmatic capabilities and function. Several building systems will be updated or replaced. The electrical, plumbing, HVAC, elevator, and fire alarm systems require renovation and updates to accommodate the needs of adults with intellectual/developmental disabilities.

Met Council Food Warehouse Renovation Project
Project Description
The New York City Economic Development Corporation on behalf of the City of New York is facilitating the allocation of City Capital funding to the Metropolitan New York Coordinating Council on Jewish Poverty (Met Council; the organization) to upgrade and expand its warehouse facilities in Canarsie, Brooklyn. Met Council had been operating as a tenant from one half of the current warehouse space since 2003. In 2021, Met Council purchased both sides of the warehouse (21,687 sq. ft. total) and has been operating in the bare bones, bifurcated space since that time. The warehouse is largely undeveloped, with minimal shelving to facilitate the storage of food and a small refrigeration area. Plans include expanding the building by roughly 765 square feet into the existing forecourt to serve as a food pantry; renovating the existing buildings interior; replacing plumbing, HVAC and electrical systems as needed; replacing and relocating the existing small office space with construction of a larger office space.
