In addition, there will be 10-foot wide parking lanes to facilitate a two-way bicycle lane on the west sidewalk which will be separated from vehicular traffic by a 5-foot wide concrete buffer. Ribbed Mussel Bioinfiltration Pilot Project

The New York City Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) is proposing a project involving the placement of constructed surfaces for ribbed mussel (Geukensia demissa) attachment in the intertidal and subtidal water of Fresh Creek in Canarsie, Brooklyn. The purpose of this pilot project is to evaluate the potential in using ribbed mussels to filter suspended particulate matter, algae and pathogens from stormwater-related discharges, which would help improve water quality in Jamaica Bay. Three different types of constructed surfaces would be installed  mesh gabion basket, cargo netting and metal grating  to evaluate ribbed mussel colonization, growth and filtering capacity. In Fresh Creek, a bottom area of approximately 450 square feet would be covered with gabions and posts (approximately four inches in diameter). The posts would serve as support structures to elevate the cargo netting and metal grating on the creek bed. The proposed project would utilize not more than 30,000 square feet of bottom area in Fresh Creek. The proposed project will be intensively monitored by DEP on a bi-weekly basis for up to two years and can be removed at any time.

The Facility at 2248 Webster Avenue would be located in an existing 16,120 square-foot, five-story building and would contain 27 units for homeless families with children. The facility at 548 East 183rd Street would be located in an existing 22,345 square-foot, five-story building and would contain 32 units for homeless families with children. In total, over the two transitional residences (Buildings or Project Sites), there would be 59 units for homeless families with children. Homeless families staying at the Shelters would have access to comprehensive on-site social services. Adults would have access to services to assist them in obtaining employment and permanent housing, while children from both Facilities would have access to child-care services at 2248 Webster Avenue. There are expected to be up to 30 staff members at the Facilities over three daily shift periods, and staff would rotate between the proposed transitional residences as needed. The Facilities would not contain any accessory parking spaces.

The proposed project is to repair Dryden Brook Culvert located in the Town of Tompkins, Delaware County within the Cannonsville Reservoir on Dryden Road (BWS Road No. 2B). Dryden Brook Culvert (BIN 2226500) is a double barrel, cast-in-place, reinforced concrete box culvert, which conveys the Dryden Brook, a class A(TS) stream to the reservoir. This culvert is one of eleven structures planned to be rehabilitated in the Delaware Watershed under a single construction contract, DEL-150. Construction work on this contract is expected to take three years, with 9 months planned for Dryden Brook Culvert site, starting in 2013. The structure exhibits structural deficiencies such as concrete spalling, horizontal and vertical cracks, mapcracking, efflorescence, scaling, exposed wingwall footings and eroded stream banks. The scope of work for this construction contract is to provide a minimum 15 year service life for the structure at completion of construction.
