PR-138 Replacement of Main Sewage Pumps at Port Richmond WWTP

The Port Richmond Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) is located at 1801 Richmond Terrace in the Port Richmond neighborhood of Staten Island. The Port Richmond WWTP treats combined sewage from a 9,665-acre drainage area and is designed to treat 60 million gallons per day (mgd) with a peak wet weather treatment capacity of 120 mgd. The plant was constructed in 1953, and the existing main sewage pump (MSP) equipment was installed in the 1970s. The MSP equipment is currently approaching the end of its reliable useful life, and DEP has reported leaking in the suction piping feeding the MSPs. The Port Richmond WWTP Headworks Improvements project (PR-138) is a state of good repair project and scope of work includes replacing equipment that is at the end of its useful life and addressing regulatory codes and standards applicable to the work.
