NYCDOT is proposing the rehabilitation of the Coney Island Avenue Bridge over Long Island Rail Road's Bay Ridge Branch along Coney Island Avenue between Avenue H and Avenue I in the West Midwood section of Brooklyn Community District 12. The rehabilitation includes the following: removal and rehabilitation of pressure relief joints; rehabilitation of the underside of the prestressed concrete slab units at locations of spalls, hollowing sounds and exposed tendons; removal and replacement of deteriorating concrete deck wearing surface; removal of pot holes filled with asphalt patch and the milling of pavement of deteriorated sections at approaches; removal and rehabilitation of spalled sections at the wingwall; removal of deteriorated water main insulation material and installation of new insulation material at missing and deteriorated sections of the water main; implementation of work zone traffic control and track protection per railroad requirement. In addition, the bridge deck will be waterproofed. During bridge rehabilitation, traffic will be maintained at all times. The estimated year of construction is 2023.
