City Island Bridge over Eastchester Sea Wall

NYCDOT is seeking a temporary easement in a private property underwater to access and reconstruct the seawall which supports the esplanade. After the reconstruction, the seawall will be handed over to the NYC Department of Parks and Recreation (NYCDPR) as part of a Memorandum of Understanding signed between NYCDOT and NYCDPR. The temporary easement will project out 50 feet from the face of the wall into the private property to allow for work barges and or platforms from which the work can be performed. The seawall work will occur toward the end of the bridge construction period after the temporary City Island Bridge is removed. The seawall rehabilitation work will include the removal of deteriorated concrete from the face of the wall, drill and grout rebar dowels, installation of horizontal and vertical bars on the dowels, form new cast in place concrete facing, install tieback anchors through the wall into the soil behind and place protective stone fill in front of wall to improve the existing stone fill. The rehabilitation work would be performed in 2015.
