Alley Creek Living Shoreline and Coastal Restoration
Project Description
NYC Parks proposes a salt marsh restoration project with the goals of stabilizing the shoreline and restoring or reconstructing lost marsh along Alley Creek where it has eroded over the last 40 years. The project will implement several different living shoreline materials and techniques to stabilize the shoreline and prevent future erosion. Living shorelines are nature-based features that incorporate hard materials, such as oyster castles, to buffer wave energy and soft materials, such as native vegetation plantings, to provide habitat value. Salt marsh restoration and reconstruction will be completed following the installation of the living shoreline.
