1. Do you have any information on the age of each cooling tower that is registered.
a. A date of commissioning can be self-reported during registration for each piece of cooling tower equipment, but it is an optional field and it is not validated and thus not reported in OpenData. Date of commissioning is the date that the system was filled with water and started up (turned on).
2. Exactly what does "sample sates mean" - is that required water sampling?
a. See the Data Dictionary’s column description for "Sample_Dates".
3. Are there any end markets that this dataset excludes? (e.g., healthcare, warehouses)
a. This dataset contains cooling tower systems currently registered in the NYC Cooling Tower Registration Portal. You can review the requirements for registration in Local Law 77 of 2015. If we understand your question, you can see that the requirements for registration do not depend on the end market.
4. Is there any other data we can get on this from you guys?
a. Results of Cooling Tower inspections conducted by the NYC Health Department can be found here and in Open Data here.
5. Does active equipment mean the number of cooling towers that building has?

So some datasets you update daily, we want to be able to maintain this data on our end to fetch the freshest data. The API for fetching data only allows to fetch 1000 records at a time. Is there a way around that?

I am looking at how future floodplains will impact NYCHA residential buildings and noticed some differences in the 2050 100-Year Floodplain from Flood Hazard Mapper compared to the one I mentioned above. 

When comparing the two, there are many subtle differences but there are also larger ones where one layer (from Flood Hazard Mapper) would exclude many entire buildings from the results of an analysis compared to the newer layer from Open Data. Both are said to originate from the same source (NPCC), but one is used in the Flood Hazard Mapper which I believe many departments still use.

Should we be using this latest version from Open Data or continue to use what is provided on Flood Hazard Mapper?

- Violation ID #18166179: I can find this violation in Site Compile; however, it seems to be missing in NYC. Could you please explain why this might be the case?
- Violation ID #18123097: In Site Compile, the status is listed as Violation Removed. However, in NYC, it is showing as Violation Closed. Could you please clarify why the statuses differ?
- Violation ID #17897241: In Site Compile, the status is Violation Open. However, NYC shows it as Violation Will Be Reinspected. Could you please advise why the statuses do not match?

The fiscal year ends on June 30th each year, and thus cannot be updated before that date. The data analysis for citywide pay is conducted only after the fiscal year ends. The results must be reviewed by various agencies to ensure that information regarding every confidential employee is removed and/or redacted. The datasets for separate agencies must be then combined and hundreds of thousands of lines of data must be reviewed to ensure the integrity of the data is maintained. Data accuracy is also reviewed. The aforementioned process takes months. As such, it is updated only once a year.

"DSNY Districts With Disposal Vendor Assignments" is overwritten upon each update. The information in it, which explains where refuse, recycling and organics are discharged for each of NYC's 59 community districts, is therefore relevant the present time only. However, over time District Disposal Vendor Assignments change. Historical information is lost upon each update.

Historical information on Disposal Vendor Assignments is of relevance to public information, especially in conjunction with new datasets that track where refuse is exported to over time, going back to 2018. Currently several independent dashboards are drawing from "DSNY Districts With Disposal Vendor Assignments" datasets; these dashboards work with historical as well as present flows data from other DSNY Open Datasets that do have a date column and reflect historical information.

I request either that:

1. Open data work with DSNY to amend the current reporting structure to include "data as of" or "last date updated" field. Current and past records would be in this dataset, distinguished by this date field. For users interested in current data only, it will be easy to filter by this column.

example: add a column called "DATA AS OF:" before existing columns including DISTRICT DISTRICTCODE MGP_CURB_PRI MGP_CURB_SEC MGP_EZP_PRI, etc.

this would be the easiest and most straightforward means of addressing the issue I have raised.

OR

2. Open Data work with DSNY to create a second historical dataset going back to 2018, or the inception of this dataset, whichever is earlier, in which versions have a "data as of" field. This historical dataset would need to be updated each time the current dataset it updated.

OR

3. Open Data post historical/archived versions of this dataset going back to its inception on Open Data. I would assume that Open Data saves past submissions from DSNY for this dataset (based on my experience working for City agencies with Open Datasets prior to my retirement in 2022). Historical datasets would need to be updated each time the current dataset it updated.

Given pressing technological and operational demands and projects, DSNY does not currently have the staff nor resources to either add a new “last date updated” column to this dataset or create a new historical dataset given the manual nature of the data and the analysis required to determine when a change was made to any of the vendors listed going back to 2018.

I was curious about the HPD Housing Litigations dataset. If I filter the dataframe to show only cases where case type = "Tenant Action/Harrassment" (sic), then in the column named "Finding of Harassment" there are four values:
- "After Trial"
- "After Inquest"
- "No Harassment"
- "NA"

The NA values do not clearly correspond to a date range or to a case status, so I wanted to ask if there was any further interpretation to guide interpretation of the NA values, specifically for the subset of cases in the file where the value in column case type = "Tenant Action/Harrassment" (sic).

This map is supposed to show the elementary school zones, it shows the lines, but does not tell you which elementary school zone eg PS9, ps75, PS84, PS87, just the boundaries. Its hard to read the streets because of the red/orange overlay. If you didn't already know where the elementary schools were, you would have trouble finding the school.

Previously you could click on the zone and a pop-up would appear to tell you which elementary school served the zone.

I compared the dataset to NYD Department of Finance for the property tax account history, and it seems to me that the dataset is not up to date. For example, for a Brooklyn property at ***** the query with block and lot only returns the Charge up to *****. The property charges dataset contains snapshots taken when the property tax bills are generated. The most recent snapshot was taken on August 16, 2025 and the dataset appended with that snapshot on September 16, 2025.
 
Filtering the dataset for PARID starts with 3062730006 and EXTRACTDT is greater than or equal to August 15, 2025 results in 39 records, with due dates January 1, 2025 through January 1, 2026. If you are querying through the website, be sure to view all the pages of the result set.
