This data is borderline unusable. There are datatype errors in so many columns and given the size / breadth of the dataset, it's nearly impossible to correct the errors manually (I know the majority of these datatypes are listed as "text" but that's honestly an unacceptable shortcut to skipping simple QA/QC of the data). I've queried directly in Socrata then exported (and also connected via odata and JSON api) and have had so many issues I'm not sure I'm going to be able to proceed with my analysis for the comptroller.

Issuing agency names are inconsistent. Dates are often mistyped (I found several 0223 values where they should be 2023). The respondent first and last names are dirty. I ran into several instances of 4 digit and non-numeric zip codes. Additionally, the Charge #1-10 columns are absurd - given the above type issues, I can't even unpivot the data to make it machine readable in PowerBI.

This needs to be sent back to OATH and completely reworked.

I am inquiring regarding the publication schedule for the "Local Law 79/2022 - Temporary Housing Assistance Usage" report.
Although LL79 data is typically published at the start of every month with a two-month lag, last month's report was published a month late and this month's report has yet to be released. More specifically, the data available as of 5/21/25 is still only displaying data from February (whereas it should be March), and in about two weeks it should be displaying April data. To confirm, the report's data dictionary states that, "The report is published on a two-month lag. E.g. the May 2023 report is published on July 1, 2023."
Given this, I was hoping you could please let me know: 1) when you anticipate that the LL79 data will be updated, 2) whether the data publication schedule will return to its normal cadence for future reports, and 3) what is the reason or agency that is responsible for the delay in publication.

My is question is about the Civil Service List (Active) dataset. In the description it states A Civil Service List consists of all candidates who passed an exam, ranked in score order.And below in the What's in the dataset section it states Each row is a candidate who passed an exam.
I took the ***** Exam last year ***** and I have passing grade, but I have not been listed. However when I filter the dataset by exam number there aren't any results. I'm curious to know why it's missing.
I do get results when I filter by List Title Desc but they are from 2022. I also had trouble filtering by Published Date. Not sure if I did something wrong but even when I put 2022 as the start date, I was not getting results.
Not getting results for ***** is my main concern. Thank you for your time.

I am trying to get tickets issued based on parking between May of late year to present day. However, I cannot do this because the fields of the column "issue date" seem to be coded as standard text. The dates under the Issue Date columns are not coded as date fields, so it is impossible to load a specific date range. This is not usual, as most databases on NYC Open Data portal have date fields that are coded as such, which makes it easy to filter just this past year. Please code this column as dates to make it easier to filter a specific date range.

The project I'm working on involves attempting to recreate NYC property tax bills, and as a part of that I need to take into consideration any abatements that exist on the property. However, I'm seeing a discrepancy between the abatement amounts listed on the individual property tax bills and the abatement amounts that show up under variable ACTABTPYR on this DOF Property Abatement Detail dataset for the same BBL. I assumed that I would add up the ACTABTPYR amounts listed for that quarter and subtract that from the net Assessed Value less exemptions, but that isn't adding up either. Is there a variable I should be looking at that shows exactly how much of each abatement was applied for that specific tax period?

I'd like to export this entire dataset to BigQuery, but I'm having trouble querying the entire dataset since it's very large.

When I try to export it via the button the request times out. I have a script that's trying to query it from the API in chunks, but if I set $offset above 98,500,000 it times out. Here's an example URL that times out:

I'm trying to map Sanitation Violations, a view based based on OATH Hearings Division Case Status , provided by the Office of Administrative Trials and Hearings (OATH) but there is no latitude/longitude georeference data. Can you create a new column with long/lat based on the "Violation Location" address columns? This would help me be able to visually display how many DSNY tickets are given out in specific neighborhoods compared to other neighborhoods and would help future recommendations on neighborhood design as well as DSNY transparency. And, since this is part of a larger OATH dataset (not just DSNY) would make it easier for future research on a host of other issues.
