I am using the BIDs dataset and wanted to check what these fields (that populate in the csv download) are:

In the attached data dictionary xlsx, I see these Column Names:

What is the difference between this Business Improvement District (BID) [https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Business/Business-Improvement-Districts/ejxk-d93y] dataset owned by SBS and the one maintained by OTI as part of CSCL [https://nycmaps.nyc.gov/datasets/423ffb8f85e643e98c386601189523cb_0/explore?location=40.725966%2C-73.984783%2C10.88]. They do not align spatially so colleagues at DCP are wondering what the SBS version applies to and why it is different than the OTI/CSCL version.

One other note, the tags for the SBS version include doitt gis and doittgis but is owned by SBS, while there is another, distinct OTI version.

Hi,

My question about this dataset:

The column Violation Type has a bunch of codes. There's no column for Violation Type Description.
The data dictionary that comes with the dataset shows all of the codes as expected/allowed values but does not provide a description of the codes.

How can I get a description of the violation type codes?

I came across this page that has some of the descriptions: https://www.nyc.gov/site/buildings/safety/types-of-dob-violations.page
However, many codes are still missing. Where could I find the rest of the descriptions?

Both the ‘individuals served’ at food pantries and the ‘meals served’ at soup kitchens are self-reported and reflect the duplicated persons served by CFC-funded programs:
1. The number of individuals served by CFC-funded food pantries represents the total served by the food pantry based on the family size. This figure is duplicated meaning that individuals served are counted more than once depending on the number of visits. For example, if one person is picking up a pantry bag for a family of four, the pantry will record that four individuals were served. If that same family received another pantry bag that month, the pantry would record that eight individuals were served, etc.
2. Soup kitchens are able to convert persons served to meals as each individual served represents one meal; again, this is a duplicated figure as an individual can be served at a soup kitchen multiple times in a month.
 
The number of individuals served at food pantries and meals served at soup kitchens are reporting the same ‘Total Service’ measure that reflects the number of duplicated individuals served in a month, with pantries using the family size to count the number served and the soup kitchens counting the number of meals/individuals served.

The dataset does not filter for "WELDER" in the License Type even though it is obvious that the dataset includes many welders. Additionally, NYC DOBNOW website shows 3103 actively licensed WELDERS yet NYC Open Data has only 29 welders of which only one has an email address. Please data mine all 3103 actively licensed NYC DOB WELDERS so that I can export said list. Additionally, please fix the filtering feature on your website to acknowledge "welder" in the License Type. Something is wrong with this DOB dataset. I have successfully exported tens of thousands of contacts for NYC DOB actively licensed GCs, Electrical firms, and Plumbers without any problem at all. Thank you!

1. BY JUST SEARCHING FOR "DETACHED TRILER" VIOLATIONS YOU DON'T GET VIOLATIONS ISSUED AFTER 12/31/23, WHEREAS IF YOU FILTER THOSE RESULTES BY A SPECIFIC DATE IN 2024, YOU GET SCORES OF DETACHED TRAILER VIOLATIONS ISSUED IN 2024.
2. IF YOU SEARCH BY DETACHED TRAILER AND SORT THE DISSUE DATES IN DESCENDING ORDER, YOU GET A DIFFERENT NUMBER OF SUMMONSES FOR A PARTICULAR DATE THANIF YOU FILTR THE RESULTS BY THAT DATE. FOR EXAMPLE, I SEARCHED FOR "DETACHED TRAILER" VIOLATIONS, SORTED THE RESULTS IN DESCENDING ORDER, AND GOT ABOUT 11 SUMMONSES WITH THE ISSUE DATE 12/31/2023. HOWEVER, IF ISEARCH FOR DETACHED TRAILER AND THEN FILTER THESEARCH RESULTS BY 12/31/2023,I GET WELL OVER 100 SUMMONSES. I WANT TO FIND ALL THE SUMMONSES IN YOU DATA BASE FOR DETACHED TRAILER AND VIEW THEM IN DESCENDING CHRONOLOGICAL ORDER BY CLICKING THE SORT BUTTON, RATHER THAN BY CLICKING THE FILTER BUTTON AND ENTERING A SPECIFIC DATE THOUSANDS OF TIMES.

I cannot find all the DETACHED TRAILER parking summonses. When I search the database Open Parking and Camera Violations for the violation DETACHED TRAILER, I get over 100,000 parking summonses. When I click on the three vertical dots in the box captioned ISSUE DATE, I get a dropdown menu that allows me to click on SORT ASCENDING or SORT DESCENDING. But when I click on SORT DESCENDING, the top issue date becomes 12/31/2023. However, when I FILTER the search results by any specific date in 2024, I find summonses issued on that date. How can I find all the DETACHED TRAILER violations so that when I click on SORT DESCENDING the top date will be a 2024 date?
