The dataset contains X, Y coordinates. You need a GIS application to convert X,Y to Lat, Long coordinates such as ArcGIS or the open source QGIS.

Use the Calculate Geometry tool in the attribute table. More information about the tool on the ArcGIS website:https://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/manage...
1. Export data to CSV and format the WktGeom column (remove "POINT" and parentheses). Separate the X,Y into two columns (use the space as the break.)
2. Load the data into the application as a CSV, add two new columns in the attribute table (long, lat).
3. Use the Calculate Geometry tool in the attribute table (right click on the column header) to process the conversion. Fill in as follows:
a. Coordinates system of the data sources: NAD1983 State Plane New York Long Island FIPS 3104 Feet
b. Use coordinate system of the data frame: WGS 1984
c. Units: Decimal Degree

2) You may use ArcPy to convert the data into geometry, see information from ESRI below.

I have been attempting to resolve a payment made and not reported by Dept of Finance for Summons 035659130L. As a heavy civil NYC GC, the registration of change orders for Project PO002-116 is required. We are not able to do until the ECB Violations 035659130L is corrected in Passport. Dian Cranston of the Dept of Finance suggest I reach out to you for resolution. This process has gone on for more than two weeks and it seems that we are still no closer to resolving this issue. We are heavily relying on Department of Finance and/or any other department responsible for reporting the violation fine as paid to ensure that the payment has been properly recorded.
Can you please advise?
The attachments to this email string represents proof of the fine for the violation in dispute being paid in full in July of 2023. Unfortunately, Passport does not reflect that payment. Until the payment is recorded in Passport, we cannot move forward.

Can you please update your records accordingly and forward proof of payment or the violation fine at issue so that we close this matter.

I'm seeing that for pre-k, middle, and high school, the latest update date is May 2022, across all names in the year (2018, 2019, 2020). Does this mean that those years' data was overwritten with 2022 data? For example, on an alternate sides no parking sign, it may state that the rule is in effect on Tuesday and Thursdays for that side of the street. If a car is parked on that side of the street on a Tuesday, the traffic agent would write an alternate sides violation and notate Tuesday & Thursday in the days-in-effect box.

Hi, I am trying to isolate OATH Hearings violations issued only by Dept of Consumer and Worker Protection (fka Dept of Consumer Affairs) ("DCWP"). The "OATH Hearings Division Case Status" dataset contains summons from many agencies, and a field called "Issuing Agency." This field is not always populated. So, I filter by "Ticket Number" contains other numbers and letters that appear in DCWP summonses, but that is not enough because other agencies also use that. So I add one last filter for "Issuing Agency does NOT contain" and I exclude certain other agencies. However, doing this excludes the Ticket Number "230576HR" (which has blank Issuing Agency). That is, without the filter, this Ticket Number appears, but with a filter to exclude other agencies, this Ticket Number does not appear. Help me Open-data Kenobi, you're my only hope.

I'm running an analysis of shootings using data from New York City and other cities across the United States. In the above mentioned NYC dataset there is a variable labeled "Loc_of_Occur_Desc" (the values for 2022 and 2023 are either the words "Inside" or "Outside").

Hi there! I'm doing a personal project on tree coverage and growth and I am looking at the tree censuses from 1995, 2005, and 2015. I noticed that 2015 has a primary key tree_id, but this doesn't exist in previous versions. Is there a field you'd recommend I use as the join key for these datasets? I believe that the values for HERRCs facilities through OTI are duplicated in months 11/23 and 12/23. Both months have identical values which seems unlikely. The number often reported is represented in other pdfs on the city council site (https://council.nyc.gov/budget/wp-content/uploads/sites/54/2024/01/Asylum-Seekers-Report-December-2023.pdf). It's usually total individuals - DHS individuals in table iii. Would you be able to confirm if the number in this dataset is accurate or needs to be updated? Thanks.

The stop, frisk, and search data from 2017 to 2022 include “STOP_WAS_INITIATED”. The column includes three elements: Based on Self Initiated, Based on Radio Run, and Based on C/W on Scene.

Based on my understanding, each element can be defined as below.
Based on Self Initiated – Police officers initiated police stops without a warrant in hand.
Based on Radio Run – Police officers engaged in police stops after communicating with dispatchers.
Based on C/W on Scene – Police officers engaged in police stops after communicating with cooperating witnesses on scene.

Question1: Would you please confirm whether my understandings are correct? If possible, would you provide any document that includes more detailed information on each element?

Your assessment of the data variables are mostly correct, but there are many facts and circumstances that may lead a police officer to conclude that there is reasonable suspicion that a person has committed, is committing or is about to commit a felony or Penal Law misdemeanor. Such factors may include information received from third parties as well as the actions of the suspect, the suspect’s physical and temporal proximity to the scene of a crime, the suspect’s resemblance to the specific description of a perpetrator of a crime (based on more than just race, age and gender) and information known to the officer about the suspect or particular location, among other factors. Each situation is unique and the information available to members of the service will vary.


Question 2: Is “Yes” equivalent to “Based on Radio Run” in the 2017-2022 data? Does "No" indicate “Based on Self Initiated” and “Based on C/W on Scene” in the 2017-2022 data?

The SQF data prior to 2017 contains 2 data variables that can be used to gather additional information regarding the source of the information for a stop. Column #42 "radio" has a value of 'Y' or 'N' which indicates whether the stop was based upon a call from the police dispatcher. Column # 43 "ac_rept" has a value of 'Y' or 'N" which indicates whether the stop was based upon a report by a victim, witness or a police officer.
