Inquiry
Original: Is there a dataset with a demographic breakdown, at the zip-code level, that includes more in-depth information about ancestry/place of origin/national affiliation for Latinx people (e.g., Dominican Republic, Puerto Rican, Mexican, Cuban, South American, Central American) and Asian people (e.g., Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Korean, Japanese)?
Edit: I’m looking for data on NYC residents as a whole.
In my lab, we want to examine zip-code COVID-19 data (from NYC DOHMH) and overlay this over zip-code demographic data, but we want to go beyond the broader demographic categories (Black, Latinx, API).
Is there a dataset with a demographic breakdown, at the zip-code level, that includes more in-depth information about ancestry/place of origin/national affiliation for Black people (African-American, Caribbean, African), Latinx people (Dominican Republic, Puerto Rican, Mexican, South American, Central American) and Asian people (e.g., Chinese, Indian, Filipino, Korean)?

The Department of City Planning (DCP), and I believe the City of New York, does not put out census (demographic) data by zip codes since zip codes do not align with census geographies. You can use the Population Fact Finder (PFF) to download various demographic data, both decennial census and American Community Survey (ACS), by several geographies including census tract, census block, neighborhood tabulation area (NTA), community district tabulation area (CDTA) community district (limited to decennial census), borough and citywide (see more geographies tab). You can also select smaller geographies like census tracts or NTAs to create custom geographies that could approximate zip codes but would not be a 100% match.
Thank you,
