You will enter the address or the BBL for the property and this will take you to the Property Information screen.

Currently the Open Data law does not allow for the removal of Parking Violations data from the portal. The stakeholders are aware of the historical nature of a portion of the posted data but for now, because of legal reasons, no action can be taken to remove it.

I am trying to get a breakdown of the types of ECB violations for elevators. Under the column Violation Description, there usually is a sentence on the violation that occurred. But there are also terms like "CU05A10." Is there a glossary I can access that can explain what each of these terms means?

The Violation Description field is free text and is not recommended for the search you are doing.

There are a couple of other things that might help you better.

First, check the Data Dictionary on the dataset homepage under the Attachments section. That explains what each of the columns means, and it has links to other code lists that can help you.

One of those code lists is the list of infraction codes (link will download Excel file). Older violations will have outdated codes that aren't on this list, but you'll still see the description in the SECTION_LAW_DESCRIPTION fields. For newer violations, take the INFRACTION_CODE, add a B on the front, and you'll find more information in the list about that type of ECB violation.

All of the job documents that you reference are Post Approval Amendments (PAAs), and this dataset excludes them. I think that decision was probably made to optimize performance. Hi There,

First of all, many thanks for the data you made available to the public.

I am using the NYPD Motor Vehicle Collisions database to track accidents in my neighborhood to help improve the safety of the roads.

There was an accident on June 19, 2019 around 6:00 PM on Greenway South and Roman Avenue in Forest Hills (ZIP code 11375), but I do not see an entry for it in the database.

In general I find the NYPD Motor Vehicle Collisions database to be accurate.

Hello - I'm currently doing some research with the NYC expense budget dataset and have a quick high level question.

If I sum the values in the "Adopted Budget Amount" or "Modified Budget Amount" columns for a given fiscal year I get totals that are 2-3 times the total NYC expense budget for that year. Is there some double counting of expenses in the dataset that I should be excluding that generates these large totals? Any advice you could share would be much appreciated.

It look like “OFF STREET NAME” field is sometimes filled out with an address, or if it’s not then “ON STREET NAME” and “CROSS STREET NAME” are filled out. Do you know why one or the other is filled out, not both? Also it’s confusing to name it ‘OFF STREET NAME’ when it’s actually the address of the incident. Why not just “ADDRESS”?

Hi, You are correct in your observation. The OFF STREET can contain the address. This was a result in the conversion of the paper form previously used to the digital one currently used. The original form only allowed for ON STREET and CROSS STREETS. The original intention of OFF street to be used if you had an accident in a parking lot or maybe in your driveway.

I was trying to build an app that would list the current events that are going on in NYC Parks Department on any given day. When I tried to compare the JSON call back to the nycgovparks.org/events/ website I notice that the events I was getting in the JSON didn't match the results on the website. I was wondering if this was a bug or do I not have full access to current events happening in the NYC parks like the nycgovparks.org/ website has.

Thank you for contacting NYC Parks regarding the Events datasets. We think there could be a few reasons for the mismatch. First, the events datasets are currently updated monthly. Events present on the website may have been added after the last Open Data Portal update. Secondly, it could be technical because Socrata JSON API results are limited by default to only 1000 records. A $limit parameter must be used to increase that number.

hank you for reaching out to ask. The discrepancy here is that the Job Application Filings dataset does not include Post Approval Amendments (PAA). You can see that Document #1 for this job (the original application) has a status of Last Action: PERMIT ISSUED - ENTIRE JOB/WORK 10/24/2016 (R) in both BIS and Open Data. The PAA in J Status is excluded from Open Data. I think that was a data optimization decision when this dataset was released because since a single application can have multiple PAAs, it would have made the dataset monstrous and unwieldy.

Please see our response to your questions regarding HPD's Complaint Problems dataset below:

The problem types are associated based on a general understanding of the hazardous nature of the problem type.

The violation classes are statutory or assigned based upon HPD classification.

There is not a 1-1 correlation between the problem being described and the possible violation; a problem could be hazardous but when the inspector actually observes the condition it could be more or less serious than the problem category.

There are Ns of 0 for many zipcodes and the biggest ones are a couple of hundred. I am comparing with IRS data which shows thousands of returns per zipcode.

You can tell if a permit is active by looking at the Issuance Date and the Expiration Date. If today's date falls between the two, then the permit is active. If today's date is after the Expiration Date, then the permit has expired.

Hi! I would like to know which source for ACS preventive services is more up to date? ACS Community Partners on Open Data (last time updated in 2017) or the Search Engine Portal on the Administration for Children's Services website (http://a068-preventivesse.nyc.gov/psse/search?actionType=search).

ACS recently launched the ACS ConnectMe portal. The portal has the most up-to-date prevention programs listing. You can visit the site here: https://acsconnectme.nyc.gov

The portal replaced the preventive service search engine which will be removed from the ACS website.

Hi! I would like to get in touch with Open Data coordinator in charge of DYCD data. I have been using multiple DYCD datasets that were all last time updated on September 16 2017. I did notice that DYCD redesigned their Discover DYCD web portal (https://discoverdycd.dycdconnect.nyc/programme-public?categoryList=Housing%20Support). I would like to know if the portal has more up to date information compared to datasets on NYC Open Data. Additionally, if the web portal has more updated information I would like to inquiry if I could obtain the data in excel sheet or any other format. I am more than happy to provide information on various applications of DYCD data, but one of the main purposes is to update community resources on our web portal keeping Track Online (https://data.cccnewyork.org/assetmapping#?domain=1245&assets=Bank).

Thank you for contacting NYC Open Data Help Desk. The new version of Discover DYCD has the most updated data resources for all of DYCD’s programs, but it lacks the functionality to download the data at this time.
The existing DYCD data sets on the Open Data portal contain outdated data. The agency is planning to release new datasets on the Open data portal labeled ‘DYCD Program Sites’ in the coming months that should be helpful in your research.

I am an undergraduate research fellow currently working at the Advanced Science Research Center at the CUNY graduate center on projects which involve NYC's 311 service data.

I apologize in advance if you receive this enquery a lot, but my research requires some way to group 311 service requests by individual caller/requester. Whether or not you have this data available, I do understand the inherit privacy conflict and would appreciate anyway to group requests (whether it be some encrypted hash based on a phone number, geolocation, or other means).
