Assigned Agencys Response
You are seeing this message because the dataset has been removed from the portal. Below is the business reason from the Department of Housing & Preservation (HPD). You will need to access data at the new dataset endpoint (ygpa-z7cr)
Removal reason from HPD
"With the release of the Housing Maintenance Code Complaints and Problems dataset at https://data.cityofnewyork.us/d/ygpa-z7cr, which merges the Housing Maintenance Code Complaints dataset and the Complaints Problems dataset, HPD will sunset and archive this dataset on or after January 31st, 2024. This change will make it easier for everyday New Yorkers to link complaint problems to building addresses, allowing the public to more easily identify complaints and complaint problems that have been issued in their buildings.
Should you have concerns, suggestions, or questions about this change, please email the HPD Open Data team at opendata@hpd.nyc.gov."
Note on future API access for NYC Open Data
NYC Open Data now requires users to register for an App Token before accessing data through the API. This helps protect the platform, improve performance, and ensure fair use for everyone. Here’s how to get started:
- Step 1 – Create or Sign In to Your Account Go to https://opendata.cityofnewyork.us/ and select “Sign Up” or “Log In.” You’ll be redirected to our Data & Insights portal, where API credentials are managed.
- Step 2 – Open Your Developer Settings Once logged in, click your profile icon (top right) and choose Developer Settings from the dropdown menu.
- Step 3 – Create a New App Token Click Create New App Token. Enter a Name and Description for your application. Example: Name: “My NYC Open Data Project” Description: “Used to access public datasets via the NYC Open Data API.” Click Save, then copy your newly generated App Token and keep it somewhere safe.
- Step 4 – Use Your New Token Example API Request: https://data.cityofnewyork.us/resource/abcd-1234.json?$$apptoken=YOURAPP_TOKEN Note: Application names must be unique across all Data & Insights domains. For more information on what an app token is, please see: https://dev.socrata.com/docs/app-tokens.html
