Thanks for reaching out, and apologies for the late response. We update the FHV Base Aggregate Report for all FHV bases simultaneously. Because new TLC rules have split the for-hire vehicle license into two separate license types, High Volume FHV and Traditional FHV, which have different data reporting standards, our IT team has required additional development time to incorporate both data standards into the same format of our monthly aggregate report. We anticipate that this work will be done soon, so please check back frequently.

Hello - I submitted a question to NYC OpenData to locate a data series and I did receive a helpful and prompt response back in early May. I did have a follow-up question that I submitted back in mid-May and I hadn't heard back yet. Can OpenData respond to my inquiry about the data series? The Response ID is: 2380079

My question was: I've located the row for my Apartment and under the Create_Date column, it shows 1/1/2018. Does this mean that if I were to have accessed this data base in mid-2016, that there would be no record? When did our building apply for the 421 exemption? Thank you.

Hello,

I am working on an app that uses DOB open data, and I have two questions about the DOB NOW Build dataset as compared to the data that is searchable on the DOB NOW website (https://a810-dobnow.nyc.gov/publish/#!/).

1) Created Date not present

When I view Job Filings on the DOB NOW website, I see a `Created Date` field in the results. This field is missing when I view the data on Open Data.

This is a useful field for sorting the results of a search. Why is this missing?

2) Open Data has fewer results

If I perform a search on BIN 3255603, I find 22 Job Filings on the DOB NOW website. Filtering on the same BIN on the DOB NOW Build Open Data site yields only 10 Job Filings. The rows that are missing from Open Data seem to be truly missing; searching for them by Job Number yields zero rows.

I had expected the results to be the same on both sites. What is the reason for this discrepancy?

I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. By "commercial and multifamily development projects" I think you're asking about larger buildings. At DOB, we generally classify buildings as "1-3 Family" or "Other", so I think all you need is to find the "Other" buildings.

If you're looking for brand new construction, then you're right - you need to find New Building (NB) jobs. If you're only interested in jobs that are currently underway, use our DOB Permit Issuance dataset, and filter Permit Type for "NB", and Bldg Type for "2" (this will get you those "Other" buildings). If you're interested in jobs that have been submitted for approval, but may be in various stages of the approval process (including construction that is underway), then you should use our DOB Job Application Filings dataset. Filter Job Type for "NB" and Building Type for "OTHERS".

These incorrect dates were errors that occurred with the metering of the trip or with the software, and were passed along to us. Hi,

I think you're highlighting an aspect of the design of this dataset rather than an error with it. Some DOB datasets update records, overwriting the row with new information. The complaints dataset instead adds a new row when the record changes. Take a look at the 3 examples you provide and you'll see that for each complaint, one record has no inspection or disposition. Another record has the date for the inspection and disposition. You can differentiate between multiple records for a single complaint most easily by looking at the DOBRunDate column to find the most recent record for the complaint.

There are some messy records in the Violations dataset. 2 of the 3 that you pointed out were deleted from BIS (see Disposition Comments), and shouldn't be showing up here. The third one, 40891, does still show up in BIS, but I think it's also an invalid record based on the Description of "WT".

It will take some time to research why these records are showing up in open data. As we migrate violations to our DOB NOW system, these issues should be resolved. We appreciate your patience as we work to improve the quality of our datasets. In the meantime, please disregard these records.

We use these data to populated DCP's Facilities Database, so it's important that the data are correct and up to date. I would like to know why there are names and list numbers (for the same exam, Exam: 7005, COMPUTER SPECIALIST (SOFTWARE), with a total list size of 2,403 names) that show up on Civil Service List (Active) Dataset, but do not show up on the Civil Service List Certification dataset? found here:

From own review, the only difference I can find between the two datasets are the names listed on the "Civil Service List Certification" dataset have been contacted by multiple NYC Agencies to attend a hiring pool (going by the "Request Date" and "List Agency Desc" fields).

There are people who are present on both the Active & Certification datasets who have been given "Request dates" on the "Civil Service List Certification" dataset who have a high list numbers (example list numbers: 2352, 2360, 2364, 2369, 2370, 2379, 2382, 2385, 2394, 2396, 2403). While there are list numbers present on the Civil Service List (Active) dataset with lower list numbers who are not listed at all on the "Civil Service List Certification" dataset (example: 476.5, 527.5, 606.5, 1073.5, 1163.5, 1358.5, 2226, 2237, etc...). Why is that?

In another case I've actually found a person with 1 list number displayed on the Civil Service List (Active) dataset (example: 1428.500,), but the same exact person has two list numbers (same exam: 7005) on the "Civil Service List Certification" dataset (example: 603.500 and 1428.500,) who appears to have been contacted multiple times recently for both list numbers to attend a hiring pool. Would someone from the NYC Open Data team be able to investigate the possible discrepancies and help clarify the differences between the two data sets?

You inquired concerning Exam No. 7005, Computer Specialist (Software), and the data for that exam on the Civil Service List and Civil Service List Certification datasets.

As you observed, the number of entries on the Certification dataset is substantially greater than the number of entries on the Civil Service List dataset, as a new record (row) is created each time an eligible candidate is included on a list certification to an agency. A single eligible candidate may be called on numerous certifications/hiring pools during the lifetime of the list.

With respect to candidates on the eligible list whose names do not appear on any certifications, those candidates may have taken other jobs, withdrawn themselves for consideration, or may have been disqualified. With respect to Mr. Delaude, his correct list number is 1428.5.

I work for Ally Bank, and we are consuming API "https://data.cityofnewyork.us/resource/uvbq-3m68.json" weekly to check if there are Ally Leased vehicles with parking tickets. While running our normal process today we realized we're getting around 37 millon recors with field ":created_at": "2019-04-30T22:08:05.051Z",

We're using that field to process records created in the last week... is this an issue that will be corrected? or we can't look at that field anymore...

Hi,

You could look up your house in our 2 Open Data violations datasets: DOB Violations and ECB Violations.

But since you're only looking for one building, I recommend you use BIS Web instead. Click on the first link, Building Information Search. Then you probably want to use the first option for searching by address: Next to #1 select your borough, type in your house #, type in your street, and hit Go. This will take you to a webpage that lists everything in our records for your building. Toward the bottom on the left, you will see a section that says Violations-DOB and Violations-ECB (DOB). If your building has violations, you'll see the number of them to the right, and you will be able to click on those headings to see a list of the violations with details. If you have 0 violations, you won't see the links.
