I would like to find out why the NYC Open Data - DOB - Complaints Received website does not have an update since October 24, 2018.
Previously, the webpage was a wonderful tool which updated new complaints regularly.
Please advise if there is system maintenance going on or is there a new database webpage for this information.
I have been able to search one address at a time through the Department of Building page for current complaints but they do not appear on the NYTC Open Data page.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

This is the most up to date data for NYC Election Districts.

Generally, the election districts only change 2-3 years after a decennial Census update (i.e. after 2020 Census -> Election district redistricting would occur in 2022 or 2023).

This election district dataset is "updated" as part of a quarterly release of NYC districts. All districts are aligned with the City Street Centerline dataset so if there was a slight adjustment to the street centerline, the election district boundary (and any other district boundary) on that centerline would reflect that adjustment.

The next quarterly release of the Districts will be released mid to late November 2018 (but won't contain any significant changes to election districts).

Hi,

There are a couple of ways to track violations for your building. First, you should know that there are 2 types of violation: DOB Violations and DOB ECB Violations.

Recommended method: Building Information System
Since you're only interested in one building, I'd suggest you just check the building profile on our Building Information System (BIS). You can find all the information we have in our database for this building. Near the bottom left is a link to Violations-DOB and another to Violations-ECB (DOB). Scan the lists on those pages for any that say Open. I see 11 Open ECB Violations.

Other method: Open Data
If you're looking at multiple buildings or you want to download a list, you should use Open Data. You'll need to look at DOB Violations and DOB ECB Violations. On the ECB dataset, I filter for BIN (Building Identification Number) is 1083870 and ECB_VIOLATION_STATUS is ACTIVE, and I see the same 11 open ECB Violations that I saw on BIS. DOB Violations are harder to filter on open data because the violation number changes if the violation is open or closed.

You can get details for each of the violations on BIS by clicking into the profile details as mentioned above. Here's a detail page for ECB # 35231521L. If you still need more information, please call our customer service line at (212) 566-5000.

Hi, we are looking at April of 2010, 2014 and 2018 to run exploratory tests on available data.

We noticed that for the whole month of April, years 2018, 2015 and 2014 have in excess of 30,000 observations (i.e. rows). By contrast years 2010 to 2013 and 2016-2017 only have less than 200 observations for April. Is this normal ? Or are we applying filters wrongly ? (Note: we filter using "CMPLNT_FR_DT"+ "IS_BETWEEN" 04/01/2010 AND 04/30/2010)

i am working on a project to try to determine the average turnaround of a ticket in NYC. Since the data by the Department of Finance is not edited, but accepted as provided. it is not always possible to compute the age of a ticket since the issue date is not always valid. i would like to request the addition of a new field call "DataEntryDate" which would represent the date in which the record was loaded into the DOF dataset. Either that or add a sequential "Rownumber" to the dataset so that it van be determined which records have been newly added to this file. As this file now contains over 31M records it is not possible to identify the new tickets in the system (because the issue data is not always valid).

i am working on a app that collects and merges the traffic data feed from the URL listed above. There are many linkids in the file for which the data is not current(122,123,148,157,224,225) for example. if there are no plans to reactivate the sensors, is it possible to have them (and all the other inactive sensors) removed from the data feed?

i am working on a project where I am geocoding parking tickets, parking as well as red light and speed cameras. I am using the geoclient application and Visual Basic .NET. i am getting errors where the API tells me that the roads do not intersect, but when i check on Google Maps it is apparent they do. In addition when streets have more than 2 point of intersection, the API does not provide any instructions on how to resolve that programmatically. i have screen shots that I can provide to illustrate my points.

The Department of City Planning creates the data that supports GeoSupport and GeoSupport products like GBAT and GOAT. We can inform you how your issues are handled in those formats but GeoClient is an API created by DOITT, that use GeoSupport data, so we cannot assist in how GeoClient functions.

Regarding your first question, any intersection discrepancies between Google maps and Geosupport should be sent to GSS_feedback@planning.nyc.gov for review. Any valid intersections that are missing will be added to GeoSupport.

Regarding your second question, we can provide assistance on using GeoSupport products: GBAT and GOAT using Geosupport Function 2 (intersections).

For GOAT users, if it is a situation where two streets intersect exactly twice, you can provide a direction (North/South or East/West) to get a hit to the correct intersection.

Function 2 (intersections) have been enhanced to return a list of NodeIDs for situations where two street names intersect more than twice. This allows the user to go back into Function 2 (intersections) using NodeID instead of two street names in order to get a hit.

GBAT users of Geosupport need to use Function 2W (intersections wide), while Geosupport Desktop Edition GBAT users need to check off a box requesting Auxiliary Nodes.

This isn't exactly an error in the data. The problem is that the name of the dataset is School Point Locations and the updated date is September 10, 2018. So I would think that this would include all NYC schools as of 9/10/18?

However, the data in the file hasn't been updated since 2011. So I guess there may be errors in the data where schools have opened or closed since 2011 and are incorrectly included/not included in the data.

I was actually in the process of chasing that down myself. I've updated the Data Dictionary to provide the best definition I have for this field. For your reference, here it is:

Indicates whether the application has been withdrawn by the applicant or closed for another reason. Expected values are:
• N = New Initial Filing. Not withdrawn or closed.
• blank = Not withdrawn or closed.
• W = The entire application was withdrawn by the applicant.
• C = The application was closed for administrative reasons.
• A = Subsequent document.

I noticed that in the Multiple Removals datasets released by the DOE, data for each variable is provided at the school level, as well as a citywide total. However, the citywide total for every category that I have checked is much higher than the total of the school-level information. For example, totaling the school-level information available in the dataset for the number of students with multiple removals results in a sum of 7610, whereas the dataset reports that the citywide total is 9139. I'm wondering how those totals were obtained? Is it an estimate or an actual measurement? If those totals reflects additional information that is not included in this dataset, could that information be made publicly available?
