1. There is no direct relationship between the JUDGMENT ENTRY DATE field and the VIOLATION STATUS field. The JUDGMENT ENTRY DATE field provides the date the violation entered into judgment status, which is based on a pre-determined penalty schedule. The VIOLATION STATUS field provides the status of a contested ticket, such as whether there is a hearing pending, or what the outcome of the hearing was. Hearings can take place both before or after the entry of judgment.
2. That is correct. Any uncontested ticket, whether it is ignored or paid, will have a blank VIOLATION STATUS.
3. There isn’t a set workflow associated with the VIOLATION STATUS values. All of the statuses, with the exception of ‘Hearing Pending’ reflect the outcome (or determination) from a hearing, whether it be an initial hearing or an appeal hearing. While there are common scenarios, the sequence of values for VIOLATION STATUS will depend on the specific case related to a disputed ticket. As an example, one common sequence might be…
‘Hearing Pending’ ---> ‘Hearing Held–Guilty’ ---> ‘Appeal Reversed’, which translates to a scenario in which a ticket was contested, found guilty at the initial hearing, and then dismissed at an appeal hearing. There are many other possibilities.
