The dictionary for 311 calls is helpful but only general.I was hoping to find a list of specific complaint types and a list of the subcategory descriptors within the database.
Is there a list of the complaint types that the 311 calls are categorized into? It would make sense that the dispatch officers would have such a list to know which category to file each 311 call into.

The Service Request data set is comprised of 311 complaints, not just calls. These complaints are submitted through multiple channels, including the call center but also web and mobile. The complaint types are a part of the data set - there is a column specifically called Complaint Type, and a sub item of that called “Descriptor” (the next column on the dataset). We do not offer a full set of the complaint types we utilize as there are hundreds in use.

There are 19854 missing records for May 2016 and 55000
missing records for June 2016.

1. What does MVOInjurie exactly include? does it include motorcyclists injuries? - This category includes injuries to anyone inside or on a motor vehicle that occurred during a traffic crash. It includes motorcycles.

2. What does BikeInjurie exactly include? does it include motorcyclists and/or electric bikes? - This category includes injuries to anyone on a bicycle that occurred during a traffic crash with a motor vehicle. No it does not include motorcyclists or electric bicyclists.

3. What is the exact definition of an injurie? does it include "light" cases without hospitalizing? - All injury levels are included, hospitalization is not required.

4. Is it possible to get geolocation data about the motorcycles injuries and fatalities in NYC? - DOT’s crash data is a summary of NYPD data and we group all motor vehicles (motorcycle, auto, truck, etc.) in one count. Individual crashes from NYPD are available at https://data.cityofnewyork.us/Public-Safety/NYPD-Motor-Vehicle-Collisions/h9gi-nx95;
you can filter on the Vehicle Type Code columns.

5. Is it possible to get geolocation data about the vehicles (without motorcycles) injuries and fatalities in NYC? - (same answer as #4)

The dataset is now in excess of 11.9 PB (11,900,000 GB) unzipped(?) This is a huge amount of space, I am wondering if maybe there is some sort of corruption of the file. I have tried downloading two separate times and both times got the same message when I tried to unzip the file. Is there any way to download each Borough individually? I do not have enough server space to unzip this file let alone work with it.

Hi, this question is about accessing a property in ZoLa. Id like to construct the URL, similar to link I posted. I think I understand all parts of it except for the "p" attribute of the URL. How can I come up with the value for search by address or BBL? Thank you!

It looks like it is using the coordinates of that lot's centroid from GeoSupport. If you go to City Planning's GOAT application:

1) Use the Block & Lot function
2) Enter Borough=***, Block=*** and Lot=***
3) System returns the same numbers after "p=" in the X,Y Coordinate field (*** , ***)

The same would be true for the address but instead of using the centroid of the lot, it finds the approximate location on a street line segment within the range of addresses on that street segment.

You may need to use the Geoclient API in order to access those coordinates based on the geographic input (address/bbl).

Someone purchased the property next to ours at ***. The new owner gutted out the house, including the basement, redid the siding and all the garbage is piled up in the backyard which is now pushing against our fence and may fall over. They have put a door on the side of the house that is on our driveway. They own only 2 ft of this driveway and have not asked permission for the workers to be passing through with construction materials and such. I'm returning to an old project that involves NYC OpenData, and was hoping to find an official list of published datasets. I found this community link, but not a full catalog.

The project's basically just "run a customized Socrata query via an HTTP request, even if you don't know what any of that means." It needs the dataset in order to collect info about options for users.

Thru Socrata's api, we can get a number of columns for traffic violations from this dataset (https://data.cityofnewyork.us/resource/qpyv-8eyi.json). Is there a way to get access to more columns (restricted data), maybe by filling an application online or by visiting a city office ? Our application will be using this data to provide feedback to our client's 2000 cars drivers with traffic violations as they happen. Current data columns wont show amounts nor links to violation images if available. ..... thanks

Thanks for replying. We found another dataset that does have the columns we were looking for (mainly the violation amount, payments, fees and reductions). Currently looking for the last piece of the puzzle to implement the application for the client: Getting driver's toll info from ez-pass (toll by mail tolls mainly). Doesn't seem to be any dataset available that deals with this. We called their 800 number but only got automated answers. As a last resort, we're planning a visit in person to one of their customer service locations in the state. If you have any links that we could look at, it would be highly appreciated.

I was told in response to my 311 service requests not being found in the 311 Service Requests dataset is reserved for the historical and reference purpose as per Local Law 11 of 2012, and is not intended to service a specific complaint. A Unique ID field is used strictly for the identification of a record within the dataset, and has no relation to a confirmation number provided by the 311 service to check a complaint status.
If so why don't you call it LL11 database. You call it 311 and that's TOTALLY misleading.

I'm trying to load in the NYC geojson after I've parsed through it and filtered it to include the buildings I need. The subset file I'm using is 10.6 MB. When I run my website/program locally, the load time is too long and moving around the screen is very slow. I'm wondering how you load in your larger geometry and render it so quickly on the screen? What would you suggest for optimizing runtime speed on the large geometry input? Thank you so much!

Why am I getting this error? Please advise...."File Not Loaded Completely" when I down loaf csv excel

As of 07/30/2017, the DOB Complains Received dataset contains 1,062,019 records. Unfortunately, when you are trying to open this file in Excel, the program imposes a limitation of 1,048,576 rows that results in a truncation of data. In order to view all the records, we recommend to export file as CSV and open it using other programs that can handle greater amount of rows. For example: Notepad++ or Sublime Text. We also recommend using a filter feature to select records for a specific range of dates. Hi there.
I am looking into data about how long it takes for emergency services to arrive and then how long it takes to arrive at the hospital. My question is in regards to the process and oversight of emergency dispatch. Does this EMS data set include non-ambulance FDNY vehicle dispatch, as FDNY reports to medical emergency scenes? The data is generated from the EMS Computer Aided Dispatch System, which in theory seems like it would oversee all dispatches for medical emergencies, including non-ambulance FDNY/fire vehicles. Also, does this data include private ambulances or just the public ones overseen by FDNY?

This dataset includes dispatch timestamp data for EMS units at the incident level. The "first assignment", "first on scene", and others may include non-transport EMS vehicles and include all municipal and voluntary (private) units that are in the 9-1-1 system. While EMSCAD does collect information on Fire units (Engines/Ladders) on a limited basis, they are not included in this data set.

What is the point of the data set 311 calls from 2015? I make 311 requests, get service request numbers and then cannot find them in the data. The 311 people cannot give me a unique id from the Open Data. What is the connection? Is there a connection? If there is no connection, what is in this data set and how does it get there?

Driver Inexperience is number 5 on the list of Apparent Contributing Factors of the PAR there are a list of 58 different factors. The three general categories are Human, Vehicular and Environmental. Unlicensed driving is not on the list. An unlicensed driver is issued a summons and it is captured in the Ticket/Arrest Number(s) field.
