Data Question

The NYC Open Data Team

I was trying to pull this dataset for analysis on traffic data in NYC, specifically before and after Congestion Pricing went into effect in Manhattan.

I'm not sure if maybe I was pulling from the API wrong or something, but the data was very strange.

From what I managed to pull:
- There were tons of date gaps both in Manhattan and in general, especially in 2024 (205 days missing?)
- There seem to be dates that haven't happened yet in the data, specifically some data dated December 3, 2025 - December, 11 2025 in Brooklyn on DeKalb Avenue

I hope I just did something wrong, but I pulled 1.84m records which is the number of records listed on the main page, so I'm not sure.

If there's a better dataset to look at for congestion traffic zone data or if I'm for sure doing something wrong and someone could help me, that would be much appreciated.

Hi,
I'm reaching out with a question regarding Certificate of Occupancy (C of O) data found in both BIS and DOBNow.
Specifically, I'm having trouble differentiating between the issue_type field in BIS and the c_of_o_filing_type field in DOBNow. From what I can tell, they seem to represent different concepts, but I’m trying to determine how (or if) the DOBNow field can help identify whether a Certificate of Occupancy is Final or Temporary—without having to manually open the PDF file.
I understand that currently in DOBNow, the C of O type (Final vs. Temporary) is only viewable within the attached PDF. However, is there any way to infer or access this information via the DOBNow OpenData dataset?

On a different note, Also, is filing_status_raw the same as or related to c_of_o_filing_type, or are they entirely different?

Any clarification you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

I am writing to request clarification regarding the jurisdiction codes used in NYPD datasets on the NYC Open Data Portal for Arrest Data.
From the documentation, I understand that:
- 0 = Patrol
- 1 = Transit
- 2 = Housing
The documentation also notes that codes 3 and higher represent non-NYPD jurisdictions, but it does not provide a breakdown of what each of those codes refers to.
When reviewing the datasets, I see the following jurisdiction codes in use above 3:

2) I noticed that a few entries have dates set in the future (up to 08.12.2025). Can these be attributed to data entry errors or are there other explanations?

The online dataset is updated daily and Marshals report data daily. Marshals enter data when they serve notices of eviction and when they schedule evictions, and evictions are generally scheduled the day before the eviction will take place. Therefore, the dataset generally has up-to-date information within a few days of a notice and/or eviction. Generally dates of eviction will not be set more than two weeks in the future so data outside of that range is more than likely an error. You can reach out to the individual Marshal for additional information. However, the date cited in the query is in the past (08.12.2025), not the future.

We are in the process of updating the NYC Parks Events dataset – our sincere apologies for how out of date it is. We’re aiming to get it up to date (and then going forward, update on a 6 month schedule) before the end of the year.
As for the upcoming 14 day events, although it says “Last Updated October 30 2024,” because it is a JSON feed the data itself is actually up to date. There are plenty of ways to get the data in a format that works for you (using Python or pulling it into an Excel spreadsheet, for example). If you let me know how you’d like to view the data, I can help you find some resources that may help or a quick Google search should get you started.
