Stipulationdescription
Crane must occupy the three lanes on the L.L. of Manhattan Bridge (Close the Bridge Lower Level Roadway for 400 ft). The permitted crane must move with Crawl Speed not more than 5 mph on bridge. It is recommended to maintain same speed and not apply brake when crane is crossing the bridge. The crane must use the lower Roadway on Manhattan Bridge, this approval is not valid for the upper Roadway of Manhattan Bridge. Do not travel over the bridge if the winds exceed 30 mph. The Crane must be escorted by vehicles weighting not more than 5000 pounds, 200 ft behind the crane. The crane is responsible to keep 200 feet behind the flow traffic. All Vehicles including NYC police shall not be allowed within 200 ft behind and 200 ft in front of the crane on the bridge. Permittee is responsible for any repair for damage incurred to the bridge structure and any appurtenances caused by proposed crossing operation. Follow all posted signs on and before the bridges such as weight, height, speed limit, etc. Follow all applicable procedures with regard to conforming to any constraints in geometric (height, length, etc.) of the roadways on their selected route and obtain any other permit if required. It is also recommended to take approval from other appropriate agencies such as Bureau of Traffic and Safety, Street(s) / Roadways, NYSDOT, etc., and follow their suggested recommendations. No substitution will be allowed for the proposed crane, and prior approval for any modification on the transporting crane. Axles weight should be transferred to each axle as per the attached information. Note: approval of the above mentioned crane on the subject bridge does not in any way predispose the permittee of the responsibility for any damage done to the bridge structural integrity, due to this move.
