Overview Paragraph
Theatre Arts Production Company School (TAPCo) works hard to create a school informed by a real love of learning and our students. It's all about being professional and passionate about the privilege we've been granted of educating children. We employ the arts to foster high achievement in core content areas and provide students opportunities for deeper exploration of the performing and visual arts. Our staff effort is guided by our shared love of teaching and learning, combined with our recognition of educational possibilities rooted in the interplay of arts and academics. We always look forward to asking our students to "show me what you know" and having the answers surprise, confirm, and delight. This school year we are working with the Lehman College of Education as one of a select group of sites to help develop and mentor new teachers in conjunction with our qualified teaching staff. Fordham University's CFN 551 is our support network. We have a theater scene shop, dedicated dance studio, black box theater, full-sized auditorium, two vocal chorus rooms, and a radio station. We communicate with students and parents through our school website, daily morning and afternoon announcements, monthly Town Hall meetings, our TAPCo radio station, an active Parent Association, weekly student meetings with staff agents, and an open door policy for all administration. TAPCo also just held our inaugural Student Council elections to give students voice and experience in the democratic process. TAPCo celebrates student success through commemorating all student work via video and photographs, awards assemblies, and our recently formed National Honor Society. Pay us a visit and you'll learn how our community lives up to the highest behavioral and academic standards. We provide a safe, nurturing and stimulating environment for all students.
Program Highlights
Acting/Directing/Set Design & Dance are the primary tracks of study in our Arts Program. Chorus, Drawing, Painting, Sculpting, Computer Graphics, Filmmaking/Videography classes are also offered. We have 19 teacher-led after-school programs in academics, the arts, and sports.

Overview Paragraph
Knowledge and Power Preparatory Academy (KAPPA) International High School is an International Baccalaureate World School (IB) that offers the IB Diploma to all juniors and seniors. Scholars who earn the IB Diploma can receive up to two years of college credit. All scholars are required to complete a minimum of 150 hours of community service and write a 4,000-word senior research paper on a topic of their choice. KAPPA scholars, families and teachers jointly work hard to maintain our warm community and are committed to a challenging program, an internationally-minded education and inquiry-based learning. To complement our classroom learning, scholars travel internationally every year.
Program Highlights
All students are encouraged to study four years of a foreign language (French or Spanish). Freshmen and sophomores study music, while juniors and seniors choose between IB music and IB theatre. The program also includes an extended instructional day, Saturday Academy and monthly Town Hall meetings. Juniors and seniors can choose to participate in CUNY's At Home in College or College Now programs. International travel is a key component of the KAPPA educational experience.

Overview Paragraph
We offer a challenging, sequential, four-year pre-professional art program and an interdisciplinary academic curriculum within a close-knit school community. We offer two visual arts programs: one focuses on developing general knowledge of the visual arts, while the other prepares students to become professional graphic designers. Both programs emphasize skill-building, student creativity, interests and community contributions. Our cultural partners provide learning experiences and additional resources for students and their families. Our small class size and project-based, student-centered curriculum provide individualized attention and prepare students for college and careers in the arts.

Overview Paragraph
Harry S Truman High School is writing a new chapter in our history as the best-kept secret in the Bronx. Our current students and their parents will tell you that we have taken the "small school feeling" of intimate classes, teachers who know you by name, and the time and personal attention needed to achieve success - and combined it with the variety of courses, diverse student body and world-class facilities that you can only get in a large high school environment. We've even received awards for our work in this rebuilding. Our students not only get their core academic courses, but can also choose to focus on one of six career academies. With millions of dollars in scholarships earned by our seniors each year, internships for students starting freshman year, and students moving on to prestigious universities like Fordham, NYU, St. Johns and Penn State, the question shouldn't be "Why should I attend Truman?" but rather, "Why would I go anywhere else?" It's class-leading education, close to home. If it sounds too good to be true, come and visit for yourself.

Overview Paragraph
Bronxdale High School is dedicated to fostering a realistic, relevant and hands-on educational experience for all students. As an inquiry-based school, we use collaborative approaches that benefit students by teaching them skills they'll need beyond high school, such as the ability to work in teams, to solve multi-faceted problems, and apply what they learn in various settings. In order for our inquiry-based approach to be successful, our class sizes are smaller, with approximately twenty-two students per academic course, and our class times are longer; core courses are ninety minutes long on alternating days. We have planned an extended school day to provide structured time, individual attention, and other supports students may need to succeed. Bronxdale follows a Distributed Counseling model through which students learn to develop relationships and build community, leading to overall student success. Each student is assigned an advisor and becomes part of an Advisory group. Bronxdale High School will help each child develop the critical thinking skills and habits of work necessary for post-secondary success.

Overview Paragraph
New World High School is centered around the language acquisition needs of all students in all subjects. Our school engages all students in acquiring and developing the skills necessary for success by infusing English as a Second Language (ESL) into all content areas of instruction. Technology is also infused throughout the curriculum to develop and reinforce concepts and skills. Our classes are small and our academic program is challenging, with the expectation that students will have a successful transition out of the ESL program in a timely manner and be able to graduate in four years. Students share their native cultures and languages and learn to become active citizens in their new country as they adapt to and flourish in the American culture and the use of the English language. Our staff works closely with students to ensure a successful progression not only in high school years, but as they continue their education or join the world of work.

We are a Collaborative Learning Community that combines a challenging curriculum drawing connections between the humanities, science, math and the arts with an intensive training program in the arts. We use state-of-the-art 21st century media technology. The Arts Studios bring together study in the traditional arts (dance, theatre, fine arts, and music) with study in the contemporary arts (film, video/sound production, multimedia, graphic design, and animation). Through our partnerships our students gain special residencies both within and outside the school. Our students have the opportunity to participate in special programs, performances, exhibitions, mentorships and internships. The entire school is actively involved in the process of building a democratic, self-governing community. Our environment promotes self-directed learning and respects the individuality and uniqueness of each student.
