<p>The City preserves landmarks and historic sites to safeguard its architectural, historical, and cultural heritage.</p> <p>Once a site is designated a landmark, the City must pre-approve interior or exterior construction or painting, including any work on fences and sidewalks. The City offers grant money and technical assistance to nonprofit organizations and low- or moderate-income households that seek to restore landmark buildings.</p>

Snow or Ice on Sidewalks Report

Report that snow or ice has not been cleared from sidewalks.

<p>While snow is falling, complaints are not accepted for snowy or icy sidewalks. After the snow stops falling, if you are a property owner, you must clear snow and ice on your sidewalk to create a path for pedestrians. You must also remove snow and ice from sidewalks next to bus stops and hydrants.</p> <p>If snowfall ends:</p> <ul> <li>Between 7 AM and 5 PM, sidewalks must be cleared within 4 hours.</li> <li>Between 5 PM and 9 PM, sidewalks must be cleared within 14 hours.</li> <li>Between 9 PM and 7 AM, sidewalks must be cleared by 11 AM.</li> </ul> <p>You may receive a summons for failing to clear the sidewalks within these timeframes.</p> <p>You can make a complaint about snow or ice on sidewalks in front of private property after property owners have had an appropriate amount of time to clear their sidewalks.</p> <p>You can also make a complaint at any time about snow or ice on sidewalks in front of public property, such as bus stop shelters, park paths, or schools.</p>

Alternative Enforcement Program (AEP)

Recreational Camps

Get information or make a complaint about a summer, day, or overnight camp.

<p>You can get information about camps permitted by the Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), camps run by the Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR), and camps for children from families receiving public assistance from the Human Resources Administration (HRA) or services from the Administration for Children's Services (ACS).</p> <p>All camps with 10 or more children are required to have a permit from DOHMH. These camps serve children 16 and younger. Some are free and some require a fee.</p> <p>DPR runs 19 summer camp programs citywide from July to August for children ages 6 to 13. The age range varies at each site. Programs include arts, crafts, sports, computers, field trips, and more.</p> <p>HRA Job Centers offer summer camp referrals to public assistance recipients. ACS provides summer camp information to families who receive their services, including children who require transfer vouchers.</p> <p>The City inspects licensed camps regularly and responds to complaints about summer day camps, overnight camps, traveling camps, and camps for the developmentally disabled.</p>

The City also accepts complaint against tax preparers.<br> <br>Consumer protection laws require tax preparers to sign every return with their true business names, provide a copy of each return to the consumer, give an itemized bill, return all personal papers to the consumer, and provide representation at any audit if that service has been promised. Tax preparers may not reveal any details of the return to any unauthorized person or alter any entries after the taxpayer has signed.<br><br>Tax preparers are required by law to give each customer a current legible copy of the Consumer Bill of Rights Regarding Tax Preparers for free before they begin discussing tax preparations. Tax preparers must disclose to customers that a Refund Anticipation Loan (RAL) is not a tax refund, but rather a high-interest loan against an anticipated tax refund. By law, any advertisement for a RAL must state that it is a loan, that the lender will charge a fee or interest, and it must identify the lender. The City accepts complaints about tax preparers that do not disclose legally required information about RALs.
