NYC Web Development Fellowship

Free training for eligible New Yorkers to become web developers.

<p> The NYC Web Development Fellowship trains eligible New Yorkers in the skills necessary to start a career in web development.</p> <p> If you receive a fellowship you can take a 22-week intensive training course at the Flatiron School at no-cost. This program normally costs $12,000. To apply, you must be eligible and go through a competitive screening process. Restore Electricity to Buildings Affected by Hurricane Sandy

<p>If your electrical system was damaged by the storm and your utility company will not restore power to your property, you need to hire a licensed electrician to inspect your building&#8217;s electrical system.</p><p>If there was no damage to your building&#8217;s electrical system, your electrician must submit a letter to your utility company stating there are no problems with the electrical system in order to have your power restored. Your utility company will turn your power back on after they receive the letter.</p><p>If there was damage to your building&#8217;s electrical system, your electrician must make the necessary repairs and submit a letter to your utility company certifying there was damage and the necessary repairs were made to have your power restored. Your utility company will turn your power back on after they receive the letter.</p><p>Your electrician can perform the repair work immediately without having to file an application or obtain permits from the Department of Buildings (DOB). However, the necessary applications must be filed with DOB within two business days of commencing work.</p><p>In most cases, any electrical wiring that came into contact with salt water will be required to be removed and replaced. Dried salt can be a conductor of electricity and cause an electrical fault or a fire. A licensed electrician may be able to disconnect the affected wiring branches to permit equipment in the rest of the building to be returned to service.</p>

Social Innovation Fund Family Rewards

Rewards program available to eligible families for completing health, education and work- related activities.

<p>The Social Innovation Fund Family Rewards study is an initiative of the City's Center for Economic Opportunity. Working with outside partners, the City is seeking families who live in the Bronx, are receiving public assistance or food stamps, and have a child enrolled in 9th or 10th grade in a New York City public school.</p> <p>The study will offer cash incentives to selected participants for completing specific activities related to health, education, or employment. Half of the families who sign up will be selected for an opportunity to earn up to $2000 or more per year. All families who sign up for a chance to be in the program will receive a $23 MetroCard and may be contacted for a paid interview.</p>
